Was a long line and found officers very friendly... was worried about my bags been left alone as I was in line so long but officer just said be more worried about process and get approved. Sent to a room asked a couple of questions and told I could go to my connecting flight.. I asked for the ead stamp and was told it was already in my passport :-). So flying the long way using JFK as first point of entry is a bonus in the process. |

Everything went pretty smoothly. I didn't have to wait longer than other people in line. I was asked just several questions, told that I need to get married within 3 months (as if I didn't kbow that ;-), and off I went! |

Yamile told me that she was treated fine by the Airport security and the INS. They even help her to go meet the connection fly to San Juan de Puerto Rico/ |

Fiancee entered alone, in Visitors' line. While waiting for her flight to land, I called the IAH Customs & Border Protection line, asked to be transferred to Immigration, and asked how long today's wait would be. Although on weekdays around 2:15p the wait can be 1 to 3 hours, I was told "30 minutes." The actual was perhaps 45 minutes. Fiancee said that the lady CBP officer was efficient, asked several basic questions (when we planned marriage, when was the last time I [the fiance] visited, had she [the fiancee] been in the U.S. before), and spent most of the time filling out the internal CBP forms. Officer pointed out that 90 days would be 1/9/09. Zero harassment. At IAH, you can wait for your incoming loved one on the bottom level of Terminal E in the "International Arrivals" area (known on the airport's website as the "Customs meet & greet" area). |
