KristenJ Spencer & Kristen K1 Houston TX 2019-01-08 2019-02-05 2019-11-19 2019-11-20 Yes We had a 12:30 appt and waited maybe 30 minutes before being called back into the processing officer's office together. She told us to raise our right hand and swear to tell the truth in the interview. We sat down and she said show me everything you have. We didn't prepare enough items because (in addition to our birth certificates, passports, social security cards, spouse's ead/ap card, marriage license) all we gave her was our car insurance policy, dental insurance policy, lease agreement, and a few pictures. I was under the impression that we should bring items with both our names on them which is why we didn't bring more. Also, we had previously submitted documents at the embassy interview and in the original application. But the point is we didn't bring enough documentation so the officer told us to fax various documents to her by 5pm. She said that even documents with only one of our names on them but with our address would be good, to establish we were at that address. She wanted basically copies of all our utility bills, a letter from our landlord with his id and signature, the purchase agreement of my spouse's car, bank statements, employer letters, check stubs, and more pictures. We didn't end up sending all of these items but sent as much as were able to by 5pm and the rest first thing in the morning. We checked online and were approved the next day. Here are the questions we were asked in the interview: (She wanted specific dates and years for questions about when) Where and when did we meet? Do you know each others' families? Who have you met? Where do you work? How long have you worked at your job? Do we have kids? (We said no, we have 2 dogs and she said she didn't want to hear about the dogs) Have either of us been married before? Do you have any other name you go by? Other questions about each other and our story of how we came to be together etc. Other questions she had as she went through our files. Also she went through all the questions on the application about being a terrorist or a prostitute or drug-cartel related etc to which all the answers are obviously no 20x. It was a very stressful interview for us because we didn't have enough evidence that we are "building a life together" as she said. But in the end we got approved after faxing additional evidence so all's well that ends well. 2021-10-12

We returned about 20 minutes before our interview, but the office was having trouble capturing fingerprints, so we spent around 15 minutes checking in at the windows. I got slightly worried at one point, as over an hour had elapsed since our interview, however eventually a very friendly officer called for us who said her previous interview had run over by 1 hour. Asked how we met, where we live, occupation (of applicant), and ran through the various yes/no questions which she qualified with an "are you sure?" for a few of them. We went through the photos, a few of which she kept, and she kept our 401k beneficiary information, copies of IDs, and copies of my EAD, bank and credit card statements. She then asked whether we had anything else, so I provided our joint wine club membership and copy of the lease on our apartment. We were recommended for approval, said she said she needed to complete a background check before we could be approved, which most likely would be the following day, as she was going home early. 2025-03-23
