The agents were very nice, interview lasted about 15 minutes. USCIS website was updated same day with notice that new card is being produced. 2020-01-20
Searocko Robin & Larry K1 Seattle WA 2018-09-18 2018-11-01 2018-11-23 2020-01-13 2020-01-13 Yes No 2020-01-18 Arrived at 7am for our 7:15am appointment in Seattle. Photo and prints of index fingers were taken of the beneficiary. Went upstairs and was called in at 7:20. The officer was very personable and kind. Probably because we were one of her first interviews of the day. ;-) IDs, passports, EAD/AP card were checked. Interview went smoothly with most of the time spent verifying the yes/no questions on the I-485. Additional questions included dates of marriage, birthdays and where born, entry date using the K-1 visa. Where was the ceremony held. How many people attended the ceremony and reception. Who were the witnesses and your relationship to them. Names of my wife's parents and where are they living. Where did we go for our honeymoon and other places that we've visited since the wedding. The only additional information requested was employment verification and pay stubs for the beneficiary since we mentioned that she is currently working. I also provided a letter from the bank verifying our joint account, car insurance policy and registration with both of our names, and photos of us together from the wedding day until now. No additional medical or immunization records were needed. I'm glad we didn't get another medical done and that was the only worry I had for a possible RFE since it has been over a year since my wife's medical was done in Guangzhou. There's conflicting information on this forum and some are getting a new medical just in case. The officer said K-1s are easier since most of the work was done up front at the consulate. The majority of the listed documents to bring on the I-485 interview notice were already submitted during the process and the officer had it in her folder. The interview notice is a standard form not specifically tailored to K-1 applicants so there's a lot of redundancy. Since it was 16 months since the AOS was filed, I brought updated copies of my tax return, W-2, and pay stubs. It turns out it was unneeded. Everything else listed that were previously submitted were not asked for. However, I had copies just in case. It probably depends on the officer doing the interview and we were lucky to get a kind and knowledgeable one. We were done after 20 minutes and was given a letter saying our case was being continued upon further review and was told to expect a decision in 30-60 days since it had to be sent to Texas for processing. However, I checked online a few hours later and the status changed to "my new card is being produced." The interview was the easiest part of the entire process. Don't sweat it and you'll be fine! 2023-08-24
