It was a nerve wrecking wait as people who got there after us were being called before us.. couldn't work out their system! The interview went very smoothly, the interviewer we got couldn't have been nicer and even made a few jokes throughout the interview. I didn't need medical exam because I did it for the K1. Interviewer also stated because we already went through the K1 she wouldn't have a lot of questions for us regarding our relationship. The only questions asked were.. What is your wife's full name? Her profession? Where is she from? Her birth date? Her fathers name? Where does she have a checking account? What is your husband's full name? Where is he from? His birth date? His mother's name? Where does he have a checking account? One thing I was missing that she asked for was a letter from my job proving my employment. I had brought documentation from my job with health insurance info on it because I have listed my husband as my beneficiary. Since it had the company header on it she accepted that as sufficient evidence. | 2020-01-16

I began writing this about 30 minutes after arriving home from interview. We had an 11:25 appointment time. The check-in line (after metal detectors downstairs) was 45 minutes long itself. Glad we showed up an hour early. Interview began about 3pm. USCIS Rep seemed a bit negative from the outset though. 10 minutes into interview the Rep noted that she did not realize we were K1 and it seemed to relax a bit. Seems she thought we were an Overstay adjustment or some such. We began this journey 4-5 years ago. Tone of interview never really improved. Nothing specific that was really negative but it was far from encouraging. Not having Health Insurance for Beneficiary became the Rep's next focus. I thought it odd given Trump's recent decimation of Obamacare and the nationwide confusion that ensued but I kept my mouth shut. Then the date of my divorce became an issue (I'm 61). My divorce was mid-90's but the original records destroyed when County Record room flooded wiping out thousands of records a decade ago. I had a new judgment signed by another judge in 2017 (4-5 years of K1 process). As I tried to explain, it was evident that short answers best and avoid explanations. If my wife & I were 30 years old, our life and file would be very simple. At 60 & 50, we each had the complications that happen to any international couple over several decades. I hoped for something encouraging as we left but Rep only gave us the standard 'sometime during the next 120 days' advice. After 4-5 years of USCIS we hoped for a pleasant end-note to this journey. Seems that's not meant to be. ++++Anyway, just stopped writing to check USCIS' Case Status and we were Approved New Card being issued should receive in a few days! Seems they posted the result immediately. Hooray!! We're finally we're finished with this dreadful business. | 2023-03-07

IO took our ID's and swore us in, then asked us when and how we met, asked about our proposal, and then a few offhand questions about each other, asked me where did my wife work, asked my wife how long have I worked in my job etc, then asked me usual security questions. After them he asked for my wife's tax returns, pay stubs and w2s, my wife's and my job letters, and took the joint sponsors updated affidavit (but not my wifes) He lastly took our joint bank account details and joint utility bills, he took no photographs or anything of the sort. Then he said that everything looked good and we should hear about their decision soon and that they will review everything and let me know, but that our application looks good and gave us a letter informing us of such. Then offered us to ask him some questions to which I asked about traveling for Christmas on the AP while I wait for a decision to which he said I could. He reminded us once more that our application will most likely get approved and walked us out. A few hours later I got the email that the card is in production! | 2019-12-17
