HEY ELECTION DAY INTERVIEW!!

We got to the Embassy twenty minutes early and we took a picture of my husband outside by the United States Embassy Sign, and were promptly told to show the security guards the photo. They saw it and it was all OK but It didn't occur to me about not taking photos. They were very kind.We checked in with men at the front gate, and then moved through the metal detector. (They will keep your purse/bag and your cell phone (which must be turned off) Walked into the actual building and the woman let us through into the waiting room. We waited about 30 mins and he was called to the DMV style window (you do not go into a room, it's all done in the open main room).

Here were the questions:

-How did you meet?
-When did you begin dating
-How long have you lived together
-Have you (immigrant) ever lived outside of Spain?
-What was the date of your marriage?
-Why did you decide to get married on that date?
-Does American spouse have brothers/sisters (where do they live?)

They didn't ask for tax info or photos that we printed off.

It was very quick. Everything took 1 hour total. (15 mins of actual interview + 45 mins of security and waiting for them to enter information into the computer)

He was NOT issued the visa since the medical information was not sent to the embassy (although he had done the tests a week prior)
During COVID the medical results are sent electronically to the embassy.

2 days later, the CEAC showed REFUSED, then the next day ISSUED. We have received the email that we will be receing the VISA tomorrow (11/8/2020)

Great Experience.

We had a great experience with the US consulate of Madrid. Even before the date of the interview, they were prompt and helpful when we emailed them to ask to expedite our interview due to the concern of another lockdown (which they approved for us).

I got there with my wife 20 minutes earlier than the appointment time, and they let us both in, only asked for our passports. We went through security and then to a waiting room for around 5 min, the woman in the booth had us confirm some basic info (email, phone, delivery address, etc), asked for some originals (passport, birth, marriage certificate, courier delivery sign up, police clearance, etc), she kept those and asked us to wait in the same room for my name to be called.

After less than 10 minutes, we got called up to another booth (all within the same big room) and the interview happened there. The guy asked us if we were comfortable with having the interview in English and started writing after we confirmed that. After a bit of silence he started asking some questions:
- When did you meet?
- How did you meet?
- Where did your wife live at the time of meeting?
- How long was your wife in Madrid before you met? What was she doing here?
- Where did you get married? (it was in Charlotte, NC, so that prompted the following Qs)
- Were you living there at the time? (no just a trip)
- What was the purpose for that trip when you got married?
- Did you meet her parents for the first time at that trip? (No), So when?
- When did you start dating? Start living together? Get married?
- Do you have any photos of the two of you?
- Who's your joint sponsor?
- What do you plan to do for work in the US?
- Do you have any children?

All in all, we were approved in less than 40 minutes after entering the consulate.

Really straight-forward, clear, amicable people; and with this whole COVID situation happening, it seems that they've reduced the amount of people being processed/in the waiting room, so everything feels like is going waaaaay more smoothly

Easy interview, fiancé was only asked two questions and was not asked to show any of the relationship evidence that he had brought.

they don’t allow you to bring a backpack in the embassy and I was not aware so I had to go find some place to leave it. I left it to the doorman of an apartment building near the embassy.
I had to wait around 30 minutes before I got called to give my passport. They gave me back my original birth certificate and asked me which countries I’ve lived in for more than 6 months and checked they had the police certificates from all of them.
After that I had to go back and wait to be called by another person for the interview.
We started by taking my fingerprints and then she asked me what is my fiancé’s name, where we met and how long we lived together. Asked if he’d like to come back to Europe too since we lived together here before and then she saw I am from Athens so started commenting on how much she likes it. After that she said I’m approved officially and my passport will be ready in about 2 weeks. She was very nice!
Good experience overall apart from the fact that the guards and the people checking you at the entrance had that annoying attitude like i kicked their dog or something 😋

Everything went smoothly. The people were nice and professional. My husband didn't have his original divorce decree only his translation so they gave him an extension so he could mail it in. Then he got his passport in the mail.
