Everything went well, until they told me that they haven't got my Medical report, even I had the medical taken 4 weeks earlier. Window 23 was easy, the Lady behind window 19 couldn't stop smiling and was really nice. Interview was hold on window 17 and it was just 5 questions. Appointment was at 7.30am, got there at 6.45am, entry at 7.15am (was 5th in the Non-Immigration line) and out at exactly 9am!
The Interview was in german, the Lady didn't even ask me if I want to have it in german or english, she just started to talk in german, so I replied in german.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

The arrival: He arrived at the embassy at 6:45am and they were let into the embassy at 7:30am. He showed his interview letter, passport and walked through security with the copies of documents I sent to him.

Inside: He had to talk to 3 different individuals at the consulate. The first lady gathered the payment for shipping his visa to him. It was 4,00EUR for that. He had to write his name on the envelope and then she took his passport. The second lady was a real sweetheart he said. This lady looked through his paperwork and verified that everything was correct. There was only one issue that was cleared up and that was my income. I didn't have 125% to the poverty line and she asked my husband about that and he cleared up the fact that I was in Germany with him and couldn't make money there. She said, it wasn't a problem because if you added the months I was away from the USA, I would have been above the 125% line. After that, there were no issues whatsoever and my hubby signed the Part 2 of the DS-230 and his fingerprints taken. The third person was a nice gentleman who asked all the questions in German.

Questions asked:
What is the petitioner's name?
How did you meet?
When did you marry?
How old is your wife?

That was about it. The gentleman then asked to see photos. My husband left the photoalbum in the car!!! So, my hubby said that the photos were in the car and the gentleman said it wasn't a problem. He had enough proof and said, "Congrats, your visa was approved and will be mailed to you within a week."

All in all, it took 2 hours. He went in at 7:30 and was out at 10:30. The drive to Frankfurt took longer than the whole process (4 1/2 hours!!!!).

I went to Frankfurt on Tue, Aug 5 and stayed for two nights. On Wed, Aug 6 I had my medical. If you go there early enough you don't have to wait too long. All in all it only took me an hour. First I had to fill in a form about my medical history, then I had to go downstairs for the blood and urine tests and the x-ray. Then back upstairs for an exam with the doctor. She asked some questions, and did a quick exman, including an eye test (I wonder why that was necessary... not that there's anything wrong with my eyes, but what if? Would it matter??).
The staff was really nice, especially the woman who took my blood. The doctor was a bit grumpy, but since I don't want to marry HER, I didn't really care
So on the 7th I had the dreaded interview. All I can say is, don't be nervous. It was a piece of cake, really!
I took a taxi from my hotel to the consulate and was there at about 6:50; my appointment was scheduled for 7:30. At 7:00 they let everybody in, did a security check (small bags are allowed, just no luggage; you can also bring a small bottle of water), and in I was. It took about half an hour until I was called to the first counter (#23). I had to give the woman there my passport, a photo and the payment slip. She gave me a big envelope that I had to put my name and a stamp onto (you can buy them there) and instructions about what order my documents have to be in. I sat down and waited again. Then I was called to the next counter (#19). The lady there was really nice, she went through my application with me, took all my documents and told me everything about the visa. She said that if my medical is ok (they would get the results a day later) I'll get my visa within a week.
Then I waited again, and finally I was called to the third counter, where the actual interview took place. It consisted of ONE question!!! First the officer made me sign that one form that you're not allowed to sign at home, then he asked me how me and my fiancé met. I told him that I was engaged to a German man with the same name who, a few years ago, got an e-mail from the American Rob, who had googled his own name. They started writing to each other, then me and the American Rob started writing, too, became friends and finally fell in love.
That was that. He took my fingerprints and told me I was all set. What??? I had a bag full of stuff to prove my relationship and he didn't want to see a single thing
At 8:30 I left the consulate - visa approved! Yayyyy!!!
BTW, the security staff there is really friendly, just smile at them and say good morning

Benny called from Frankfurt this morning. Odd that the caller ID said Utah call.

He'd brought a birthday card from my son for part of his proof of the relationship. However, because of the song device (Star Wars music) they wouldn't let him take it in. They said it was an electronic device. Funny they wouldn't let a birthday card through.

They made him take more photos (so he lost his place in line) because his ears weren't showing in the ones he brought with him. Benny said he saw nowhere that his ears had to show.

He forgot to bring the picture of us but the agent signed off on the visa anyway. We just have to wait for the medical to be done. It appears the doctor wants to use all that the free insurance allows, mostly because Benny hasn't been to the doctor in so long.

The day before the interview, we left home at midnight, got to the Consulate at 6:00 a.m!
Too early, so we left for coffee then came back for the appointment. Waited outside for about 15 minutes, then went it. They call for "united states citizens first please!" So we were the 2nd couple in.
We sat down, then got called up about 5 minutes later to the first Consulate worker. She was very nice, and gave us a sheet as to how to put the paperwork in order, and told us to buy stamps and then pay for the processing. (The exchange rate is crap at the Consulate; we actually paid $432 instead of $400 because of this, and I wish I had known this beforehand.)

After this, we sat down again for a while, and then got called up to go to the 2nd window. This man was also nice and friendly. He went through our paperwork, checked things off, and then said we were all set with that. Then he told us to sit down again and wait for the last process, the actual "Interview." So this time we waited about 1/2 hour, and then got called up. This was the shortest period of time of all. We didn't get asked ANY questions at all. Jens got his fingerprints done, then the Officer said "Ok, we have everything we need; you should get your visa in the mail within two weeks. He was very nice and straight to the point! We left, and were so relieved afterwards...it's a nerve wracking process. Thank GOD it's over! We received the VISA and paperwork in the mail today, on Tuesday July 22. That has GOT to be a record! 2 business days! Amazing!
Thank you all for your support, I will write more later concerning the POE etc..Take care, and many blessings,
Marsha & Jens
