Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

The arrival: He arrived at the embassy at 6:45am and they were let into the embassy at 7:30am. He showed his interview letter, passport and walked through security with the copies of documents I sent to him.

Inside: He had to talk to 3 different individuals at the consulate. The first lady gathered the payment for shipping his visa to him. It was 4,00EUR for that. He had to write his name on the envelope and then she took his passport. The second lady was a real sweetheart he said. This lady looked through his paperwork and verified that everything was correct. There was only one issue that was cleared up and that was my income. I didn't have 125% to the poverty line and she asked my husband about that and he cleared up the fact that I was in Germany with him and couldn't make money there. She said, it wasn't a problem because if you added the months I was away from the USA, I would have been above the 125% line. After that, there were no issues whatsoever and my hubby signed the Part 2 of the DS-230 and his fingerprints taken. The third person was a nice gentleman who asked all the questions in German.

Questions asked:
What is the petitioner's name?
How did you meet?
When did you marry?
How old is your wife?

That was about it. The gentleman then asked to see photos. My husband left the photoalbum in the car!!! So, my hubby said that the photos were in the car and the gentleman said it wasn't a problem. He had enough proof and said, "Congrats, your visa was approved and will be mailed to you within a week."

All in all, it took 2 hours. He went in at 7:30 and was out at 10:30. The drive to Frankfurt took longer than the whole process (4 1/2 hours!!!!).
