I arrived at the Embassy at 09:30 for a 10:30 appointment. Sat outside until just before 10am then made my way following the blue signs to the first desk outside. A lady took my name, looked at my passport and DS-160 and then I walked to a door where a security guy asked to see me open up an app on my phone (unsure why but he was asking everyone to do this!) and then I went into then security area - very heavy doors by the way! I had to put my bag inside a tray and it went through the scanner. I deliberately didn’t wear any jewellery and made sure I didn’t have any perfume in my bag because you aren’t allowed bottles over 30ml. I then walked through into the main building, ignored the big queue and bypassed straight to the desk who told me to take the elevator to the 1st floor and then turn left, walk down the corridor past everyone and then turn left again. There you take a seat and wait for your number (stuck on the sticker on your DS-160 page) to flash up on the... read complete review

The interview and process at the embassy went very well! It’s a beautiful building, very grand!

I was let in 15 mins before my interview at 10am.

I accidentally had a glass bottle of perfume in the bag I took with me so I had to throw that in the bin when going through security!

The queue inside was very long so I remembered people saying jump the queue which I did. It felt very unnatural and un-English of me 😂 The last at the desk stuck some stickers on my DS160 then I went in the lift to floor 1. A guy working there who was standing on floor 1 told me to go to the right but I realised I needed to go to window 20-21 which was to the left and around the corner.

I waited a short time for my number to be called. A young man who was really friendly took my documents. After that I waited a lot longer, like 2 hours until my number was called again! I was too nervous to read my book so I just say people watching and ... read complete review

Got to Vauxhall station at 10:40am (my appointment was at 11:30am) so took the scenic route to the embassy along the river with a coffee - it takes about 15 minutes and is a lovely walk.

Arrived at the embassy at just before 11am, having stopped at the big Waitrose next door to grab a drink (you can take bottles in the embassy, as long as they’re sealed and made of plastic - definitely worth grabbing a drink and a snack, as you may be in there for a while and there’s no vending machines).

There was no queue outside and no queue to go through security - all very quick and simple.

Once in the immigrant visa waiting area, I was called to the first window after about 10 minutes, where I was asked for my current passport, reaffirmation of intent to marry (my petition expired last month, hence me needing one), my ACRO, birth certificate, affidavit of support and supporting proof (2018 tax transcript). I wasn’t asked for an... read complete review

My fiancé arrived at 9:30 for his 10 am appointment on Aug 9. He took a bus into Victoria station and walked about 40 minutes to the embassy. There was a short line to get through security. He was annoyed they shoo’d him away as he was packing his stuff up after going through. At the next area, he joined the short line for US citizens despite being told by me to go up to the front desk, but it didn’t matter much, as the line took 5-10 mins to get through. After stickers were placed on his He was sent up the elevator. He was asked for his birth certificate, passport photo, passport, police certificate, and the affidavit of support form and documents. The DS160 was not asked for.

He then had to wait about 45 minutes for his turn at the interview booth. The questions asked were:
1. What does your fiancé do for a living?
2. Where does your fiancé live?
3. Does she have kids and how many?
4. Where did you meet? My fiancé... read complete review

I got there exactly 30 mins early because they advise you will be turned away if earlier. The queue to get into the embassy took 20 mins. Then there was another queue on the ground floor, but they called my name out and I got to jump it.

I followed directions to the immigrant visa waiting & interview area, and was called to a standing booth within 10 mins of my appointment time to hand over documents and answer a few basic questions.

Then back to the waiting area for about 45 mins / 1 hour, until I was called back to another booth for some questions about the relationship with my wife. Was pretty brief. Both trips to a booth were with very friendly, smiley people on the other side.

My last interviewer said everything looked good and they could probably get my passport back to me with the stamp by next week (it was a Friday morning).
