K1 visa interview experience

Today was my visa interview at the US Embassy. I'd just like to share my experience for a lot of you who are as anxious as I was. By the way, I passed (all thanks to God, my family, friends and fiance who were extremely supportive)

Here are some useful tips:
1.Prepare all your documents- put them in order like this: passport, DS forms (1 copt of 156k, 2 copies each of 156 and 157), NSO Birth certificate, CENOMAR, NBI clearance (keep the personal copy with you), bank receipt, Form I-134 along with ITR, W2 bank statement, employment letter etc.
2.Some other papers that I gave (they didnt really ask for these but I handed them along with the I-134) - a photocopy of my petitioner's passport and birth certificate, , co-sponsor's I-134, ITR, W2, bank statement, photocopy of passport/greencard whichever is applicable.
3.Arrange the evidence of your genuine relationship - preferably labeled and with some sequence ... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

We spent the night at the Paragon Hotel which was a real nice room (junior suite). We woke at 4:30 am to prepare and by 5:40 we were in line at the Embassy. Their were about 40 people there already in front of us. Initially it seemed confusing ( us taking papers out of our folder etc).

We were fortunate in that our printed forms had barcodes. Some forms people print do not have the barcodes. It make the process somewhat smoother when outside.

Upon entering we were given a number and we sat and waited. When called my fiancee and her children (with me tagging along) had their biometrics accomplished (fingerprint scans).

We eventually went to the first interview window where a filipina interviewer talked to all of us ( children included ) She did ask about childrens father and if they divorced (trick question??). Anyways we brought proof their was no marriage before and that he was also deceased. To my surprise (not my fiancees) she asked fo... read complete review

The interview went very smoothly. I spent 10mintues with filipino pre-screener and 5minutes with CO. The pre-screener asked a for my hubby's recent ITR and W2 though he sent it to nvc. Also she asked for my hubby's divorce decree and asked me some basic questions. The CO was so friendly and asked me pictures with hubby, I enjoyed the interview. Then in few minutes she told me "CONGRATULATIONS YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED". I can't explain the happiness I felt when I hear those words. The long wait is really worth it. I thank God and visajourney members for guiding me on this journey. Good luck to everyone.

Came at 7:30 in the morning for an 8:00 appointment on October 04, 2012. Security guards were nice and accommodating. Every security personnel we pass through asked for and checked our appointment letter and original passport. First security check, I was asked to queue at the immigrant visa section, we were only like 10 people at that time, the "non-immigrant visa" section has a longer queue than ours. Second security (recheck), mobile was asked to turn off and bag was surrendered before an X-RAY, a number was given to claim it later. Since it's a US embassy, you'll have to pass a metal detector plus a manual inspection too. After passing the reception area, you'll be entering the door on the left side and be guided to go straight then turn right. Another security check, this time they'll be giving you a token number. Mine was 09, and was instructed to seat on the last or back most part. The waiting has started and it took 20 mins. before my number flashed on the screen. I couldn't rem... read complete review

7:00 AM- Arrived at Manila USEM. There was a long line already. I found out that immigrant applicants or k1 applicants have a different line. They asked for my DS forms, appointment letter and then passport. The lady put a sticker(bar code) on the back of my passport.

After that, I went inside for security check. Manong Guard asked me if I got electronics with me, I said, "No." and went inside.

Next is the line for getting your queue number. My lucky number is.. Tan tananan tanan!! "6151." After that. I went to Window 39. I dropped my forms there.

Ten minutes waiting. Window 40. The lady just asked for 2x2 pictures since the pics I submitted on St. Lukes are wrong, I was wearing necklace and didnt notice.

More waiting. About half an hour more and it was time for finger scanning.

I went back to my seat after that, and then guess again... I waited for my number to be called. One and a half more. Finally, my number... read complete review
