Came at 7:30 in the morning for an 8:00 appointment on October 04, 2012. Security guards were nice and accommodating. Every security personnel we pass through asked for and checked our appointment letter and original passport. First security check, I was asked to queue at the immigrant visa section, we were only like 10 people at that time, the "non-immigrant visa" section has a longer queue than ours. Second security (recheck), mobile was asked to turn off and bag was surrendered before an X-RAY, a number was given to claim it later. Since it's a US embassy, you'll have to pass a metal detector plus a manual inspection too. After passing the reception area, you'll be entering the door on the left side and be guided to go straight then turn right. Another security check, this time they'll be giving you a token number. Mine was 09, and was instructed to seat on the last or back most part. The waiting has started and it took 20 mins. before my number flashed on the screen. I couldn't remember which counter though but there was this kind American woman who asked for my documents. Luckily I prepared them in order so she didn't had to sort them out. If you arrived at the counter prepared you'll not only waste both of your time but also lessen your anxiety and make the other next applicants happy. Why? The first few applicants before me weren't prepared, when they were asked for their documents it seemed like they kept looking and searching at their envelope or folder which obviously gave an impression of coming to the USEM unprepared, it's like coming on an exam with just one pen or no examination permit. Seeing this, I was just shaking my head. Because if all applicants came unprepared, the longer time it will take for the CO to review your documents. So here is how I organized and prepared my documents:
1. Appointment letter, original passport and a photocopy of passport.
2. All original DSC forms plus attachments
a. DS-230, page 2 signed and dated
b. DS-156, two 2x2 photo glued, page 2 signed and dated
c. DS-157
d. DS-156K, to be signed at the presence of CO
with attachments (photocopies only)
1- Birth Certificate
2- CENOMAR
3- NBI Clearance Certificate
4- Abu Dhabi Police Clearance Certificate
I showed my originals of each certificate, but wasn't needed.
3. I-134 (affidavit of support form signed and dated by my fiancè)
with attachments from my fiancè:
a. original employment letter
b. original banking information
c. original intent to marry letter, signed, dated and updated
d. Income Tax Return year 2011-copy
e. 3 recent pay stubs-copy
f. Life Insurance Policy-copy
4. NBAD Visa application fee receipt (they took pink copy only, returned blue to me)
5. Sealed brown medical exam result only (X-ray returned)
6. 300 AED or $80 to be paid at the cashier after documents were taken
7. All originals of proof/evidence of relationship submitted during the I-129f
-hotel receipt
-western union receipts
-boarding pass
-itineraries and/or e-ticket
-DHL/Fedex receipts
-recent skype logs and email screenshots copy
I brought these but weren't asked nor taken. I didn't bring additional photos also, since it is considered as secondary evidence only.
After giving all the necessary documents, she asked me to pay at the cashier and afterwards proceed to the fingerprinting area. State your name first then fingerprint, left hand four fingers altogether, next right four fingers altogether then left and right thumb altogether. Then after that we were asked to sit down and wait for our number to flash again. Counter 09, and token number 09 flashed! So lucky, our monthsary is 9 too!  Our interview was easy breezy. It started with an oath and a raised right hand. The American CO was looking at our douments while asking:
1. How did you meet your fiancè?
2. When was the last time you met?
3. Where does he work?
4. What does he do?
5. (Then she looked through our photos and saw his tattoos) Wow! Is that a tattoo? Why do you want to marry a guy with many tattoos? ( I just laughed at her because she was so amazed with my fiancè's tattoos and told her he has several more)
6. How long are you in Abu Dhabi?
7. What's your work?
8. What is your profession?
When I saw her took a pink slip and signed it, I knew right then I am approved. Then she smiled at me saying "This one is approved, just come back next week for your visa at 2pm with this slip and a valid ID, congratulations! And have a nice day!"
A week later, October 11, I came back and got my passport with the US visa and the sealed brown envelope. Doubled checked everything in the passport with the US visa for any misspelled name or incorrect birthday and passport number. But all are correct. I'm so happy and relieved I'll be flying to Hawaii a week after and be with my love, forever.
