TL;DR - Interview took around 4 hours because my wife had to exit the building to upload missing documents to the consulate's visa online system, the embassy needed time to find documents she mailed to them, and she was last on the list to be interviewed that morning.

Long version: My wife's interview was at 7:30am. US Embassy has no parking for visa interviewees so we had to park a few block away across the street on Roxas Blvd East Service Road near the Bayview Park Hotel. Empty parking spots were roped off but we told the parking attendant we were headed to the US Embassy and he kindly opened up a spot for us. I walked my wife to the Embassy after parking (about 5 minutes walk) and they let her in 15 min early. Unlike other people's experience, her interview process took about 4 hours. This was for several reasons:
1) During the first pre-processing step where they check all the visa candidate's documents, the US Embassy representative informed my wife there we... read complete review

Interview was easy took 15min total once inside. Only asked a few basic questions such as how many times did your husband visit you in PH etc. Asked for DS-260 confirmation page and Interview letter page only. Approval and passport with visa arrived in 2 days.

The consulate interview was as expected. I was there to help my wife.

The worst part was the long line outside and the confusion as to where to go. The consulate employees who "direct traffic" are not helpful and often wrong. Once you get inside, it is easy. You are directed to the proper waiting area and you wait until your name is called.

In our case, the gentleman behind the window was nasty. He was in a hurry, impolite, and he did NOT want me any where near my wife. As a result, I had to be called back to the window by my wife five times to explain things to the person questioning. Among the things that he did NOT understand were: the fact that I was retired and had been for some time (I retired at 45); my assets were well in excess of the requirements but I was asked up to explain why my brokerage account was not a checking account; I was asked why the assets were not on a tax form (because we are not taxed on assets); I was also asked for my rent e... read complete review

Very pleasant interview experience. The pre-interview by the Filipina consul asked my wife why we had married in Costa Rica? Why not marry in the Philippines? The travel ban of course. How and when we met and how long we were together before we married and how many times I visited her in the Philippines? My wife said she didn't know how many times we met since I was coming there all the time for years so it was too many to count. She said we met in 2014 and the counsel followed up that asking the specific month in 2014. I'm not sure I could even remember that one exactly but I guess my wife did. Since she has ALLOT of stamps in her passports from allot of different countries the consul asked my wife about her travel. Specifically, if she was ever anyplace overseas for work, or for over 6 months. She said it's all just short tourist trips and we travel allot just for fun because we love to travel. The consul kind of singled out Panama and why we went there. Nothing special the... read complete review
