My fiance and I both attended our interview and arrived at about a half hour early for our appointment at 7:30. Neither of us is a German citizen, but we had no issues. We were put in the non-immigrant line and luckily had left almost all our belongings (cell phones, wallets) in a locker in the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof for 4 euros. I highly recommend this for people without a car or hotel room! The U5 goes directly to the consulate from the Hauptbahnhof. We first gave in our passports and received a number, then had to put our belongings in plastic bags and go through security. In the general waiting area, we had to give my fiance's passport and a printed copy of our appointment confirmation to a clerk, then waited to be called by the secretary. She looked at our case first, explained the sealed packet and double-checked some biographical information. After being sent to wait again, we were called for our interview at another window. Our officer was very friendly and spoke perfect Englis... read complete review

I was very nervous the week before I had my interview.
All I can say is, that it was a pleasant experience.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
The interview was quick and painless. The nice consul talked to me in German but switched to English once or twice. He even joked. The interview was more like a chat between friends.
I brought a binder with all of our documents which was absoulutely not necessary. I got an E-Mail from the Visa Unit asking me to bring my original police certificate to the interview because I sent them the copy only. No one wanted to see the original.

I was very nervous about my interview, I ran through hundreds of possible questions in my head and printed out a thick folder of additional proof of our relationship to bring with me. Everything turned out fine! Nobody cared about the folder (the only thing I needed was my passprt) and the interview turned out to be more of a pleasant chat. Everybody there is extremely friendly and relaxed, yet professional.
The interview was short (7 min max) and questions were:
How did you meet?
How did he propose to you?
Who is (name of joint sponsor)?
What do your wedding plans look like? (we had very general plans, nothing booked, it was fine)
Just as I started to relax and actually enjoy the conversation, he said "ok, you're approved"
Most people there talked to me in German, the interview itself was in English. The waiting time was shorter than expected, I walked in at around 7:30 and was out at 9:15am.<... read complete review
