I am writing this review to give my experiences with the U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou, China. My wife and I requested the electronic filig system and it was quick and easy. The only problems I encountered was waiting for Guangzhou to send me the packets when in fact after paying the fees and printing a receipt you also received instructions for the next step.
She received her interview date and time for the 19th of January 2010 at 0730. We arrived at 0700 and found a couple hundred or so other people waiting. The lined everybody up by their appointment time. I though this would be smooth but it was not as they intergrated others with the approved appointments. My wife did not get upstairs until 0900. Than after turning in the requested paperwork and getting finger printed it was not till 1130 she was called to window 22. She told me that it was ayoung man with a big smile on his face and that put her at ease. He asked her three questions; when and where did we meet, ... read complete review

Everything was fine with one exception, the whole experience being very similar to that of another member's fiancee. The visa officer liked my fiancee's organization of my financial documentation so that she didn't have to ask for each part, and the fact that not only had I visited China three times, but that she and her son visited Toronto and my mother flew in to meet them as well. The final question on CCP membership led to the visa officer's disappointed expression and the blue slip for more information and an exemption.
The whole experience was very professional; the last question confirms the same one in the pre-interview registration. If your fiance(e) is honest, there isn't a lot one can do about it. Under federal law it's still illegal to give a de facto immigrant visa (as K1 and K3 are treated by the consulates)to someone with membership in an organization that wants to overthrow the U.S. government. It doesn't matter if nations run by that Party have most M... read complete review

I had a pleasant stay in Xia's apartment. He is a very friendly guy and offered to help me with organizing my documents. My VO was a young caucasian lady. She just asked me routine questions.
-How did you meet?
-What's your major?
-Could I see his tax return?
-Could I see your physical examination results?
-Could I see your pictures?
-Who's that?
-Does he only have 1 sister?
Then, she handed me a pink sheet of paper.
I had a feeling that my VO was probably a tough one. It was later confirmed by hearing other people talking about her. Few pink slips were given by her on that date. Most applicants interviewed by her received blue/white slips. She couldn't find the tax return forms and my PE results when these documents were right in her hands. Fortunately I had paper clipped every single documents and was able to guide her to find my documents.
My interview was finished around 10:30am on the 21st. I w... read complete review

Got a BLUE SLIP.... which is a 221(g) Lacking documents/Further Processing. This was surprising because we were well prepared. Additional forms they asked for were three year tax returns from me and three year "CERTIFIED" tax returns from my co-sponsor (I was told I only needed to submit our 2008 taxes which I did, also CERTIFIED COPIES TAKE 60 days to get from the IRS in the USA.)
We had written a letter before the interview stating that she only joined CCP for school and never participated in any other actions etc.... they kept the letter. But they requested additional information about CCP.
I had copied our Video Chat History from SKYPE 147 pages, 4 rows each page (1 hour or more every night.) We only missed about 19 days in 8 months and that was due to traveling. I also, lived in China from August 2008 until March 2009 and I had plane tickets, huge picture book, and receipts. But they still ask for more correspondence proof.
I think... read complete review

Well, to begin with, the Office was about 30 minutes late getting opened up. Dandan was seemingly calm and cool (more so than I). She said she began to be a little worried when she realized we had left a copy of her Passport out of the file... luckily they allowed her the time to go to the 4th floor and get a copy. She began to relax and chat a while until she and others noticed a lot of blue slips being passed out. She was really nervous when the one window that appeared to have handed out nothing but blue called her number. She said all went well, until he closed the file and asked her to tell him how many days a week I worked, and how many people were in the company I worked for. She had not really prepared for that question, but she recalled I had told her about a recent merger which put us to about 500 people... he questioned her again and she was a little shocked that her sounded like she was wrong. I think this was his personal effort to read her reactions about everythin... read complete review
