The interviewer seemed annoyed that I didn't have a statement explaining why I hadn't provided my tax returns for the past 3 years. I guess I'd thought it would be obvious, since I'd reported no income for those years. In retrospect, it was absurd to hope a person would be able to glace over that big pile of papers, absorb, and cross-reference all the information instantly, at 8 am. Then the interviewer gave her a series of specific questions regarding my finances, on which she seemed to do okay, but not great on.
She was then asked a series of questions about me and how well she knew me, which is unusual for a K-1 interview, but common for a CR-1 (spouse) interview. She recognized this, and started to get flustered. She missed a few questions, about names of my friends, who we haven't talked about much, and where I went to university. The university question was probably my fault. Perhaps I was very sleepy, but at some point, I told her that I'd gone to the Unive... read complete review

My wife's immigration interview. I flew to Guangzhou but could not accompany her inside consulate (they don't allow petitioner like me to enter, only beneficiary)
This is off-the-top of my head, as much info I can spew out.
You can't bring anything, cellphones, electronics, bags, etc... into consulate. Only documents. Very strict. You have to arrive within 30 min of scheduled interview time, or else they cancel you.
Make sure you have original copies of items on the Pre-interview checklist, they will ask for it, and keep it. Literally, out of the 1.5 hours I spent waiting, like 80% of the time was document processing, ensuring you have the right documents, birth certs, marriage cert, police records, medical exams, etc...Interview lasted less than 10 minutes, while I heard from others it takes 10-15 minutes usually.
NOTE: You must have a completed medical exam before visa interview. We had to skip our first CR1 interview in GUZ due to ... read complete review

My husband had his interview at 8:10am, he said everyone was really nice. He was very nervous but he was able to calm down. Interview questions were easy just based on our relationship and some questions about my family and co-sponsor. Thanks be to God for making this step of our journey a bit more comfortable and for allowing my husband to get a kind hearted interviewer so he could remain calm. All glory be to God!!!
He was by 9:20am....Visa in hand 5 days later...

We had an am appointment, so it was really early. Arrived promptly at 7:45am and was greeted at the window where we turned in the documents. We were asked questions about occupation, address of residence, name of in laws, name, and country of birth.
We were also asked to show photos, but they did not open to see any of the photos.
After that, they said congratulations. And that concluded the interview for us.

The appointment was scheduled to file the I-130 on Monday, October 22nd at 9:15 am. If anyone plans to go to the Guangzhou embassy I recommend staying at the Mei Cheng Hotel 美æˆé…’店 which is directly across the embassy on the north side, 500rmb for one night. The entrance for citizens is at the north-west corner of the embassy so literally a 1-minute walk from the hotel.
Showed my passport and appointment letter to the guard, he let me in and then I went through security, no bags or phones allowed in so make sure you take everything you need from your bags before you go in (I left my wallet and had to go running back to get it)
once you enter the embassy, you’ll go up to the 4th floor and walk straight to the back and there is a small window with maybe 12 chairs in front of it, the lady at the window will call your name, I just so arrive right as she called my name. I have her my documents which were held together with paper cl... read complete review
