Well my interview was initially booked for December 5th at 7:30 AM. Because of President Bush's funeral, Trump declared all federal buildings to close on the 5th. So I was sitting in my hotel room and got an email at 9 PM on Monday - the same email that you get when you book your appointment and pay your visa fee that has your date on it. Well I looked at it and it said December 6th at 7:30 AM. So I was confused and was just going to go to the consulate on Wednesday like I was originally booked to do so. Then at 10:30 PM I get another email that says that my appointment was cancelled and moved, and "sorry for the inconvenience". While I had my return flight to Saskatchewan booked for Thursday at 9 AM. My appointment is now Thursday at 7:30 AM. So I had to fight with Air Canada to get a different fight and several emotional breakdowns later I get a new flight. I was unsure as how long the process was going to take as they were fitting half the people scheduled on Wednesday in with all t... read complete review

Arrived at the consulate at approximately 7:05 am for my 7:30 am appointment. There were already 5 people ahead of me. At 7:25 am, the lights to the entrance of the consulate turned on. At 7:30 am a security guard came outside and started letting people in two at a time. Once inside you hand your passport and appointment letter to the person at the door, who then sticks a sticker with your name on the back of your passport. This person also hands you a sheet with a number on it and a list of the documents you need in the order they want. After this, you are instructed to go through security where you take off your coat, take everything out of your pockets, and go through a metal detector. After, you are instructed to go downstairs and wait.
My number was #6, and when downstairs I had more than enough time to arrange my documents. Then a security guard comes, and instructs everyone to get in the elevator and he sends you up to the 19th floor. On the 19th floor you sit an... read complete review

Our Appointment time: 7:30 am
Our arrival time: 6:45 am.
The doors did not open until 7:30 am. By then, there were about 10-12 groups of people waiting outside. I want to emphasize that the consulate basically takes people in on a first come first serve basis (based off of appointment time like previous reviews stated) and people were let inside one at a time.
Overall our experience was similar to all the other reviews regarding what to expect. Some of the guards were a little impatient but otherwise everything went smoothly.
NOTE: The interviewer told me that the Canada Post strike is over, very good news.

My interview was on November 28th, 2018 at 7:30am.
I stayed at an airbnb 3 minutes by and was able to walk to the consulate no problem. I arrived at around 7:10am, there were already 4 people in front of me. The consulate isn't open until 7:30am. Come bundled if you're planning on coming early, which I suggest doing. They won't let you in if you're appointment isn't within 30 minutes. A couple waiting outside were denied entry for a 8:30am appointment, they were told to come back in 30 minutes. When you walk through the entrance you'll be asked for your passport which they will then put a sticker on the back stating your time, date, and time of appointment. You're then given a laminated sheet of paper stating documents you'll need to put in a specific order to save time for the workers.
You'll then proceed towards the metal detectors. I wore no jewelry and only had my phone and wallet with me. They'll take your cellphone and give you a ticket so you can pi... read complete review

Wanted to give a quick consulate review for you guys with upcoming interviews:
• My appointment was for 8am. I showed up at like 7:35am. There were a few people outside waiting, so I got in line. They ask for your letter and passport and then you go through security. You receive a laminated paper saying what your number is - I got number 9.
• Up to the 19th floor and we were told to have a seat and wait. They started calling people up to the counter - this part takes the longest. Once my number was called at around 8:30 I think, I went up to the window. The lady was very nice asked to see my documents. She ended up having to go help a coworker for like 10 minutes which was fine, she asked to see all the paperwork on the list they give you and I also provided pay stubs and a letter of employment for my husband, which she kept. I also provided the name police check and the Privacy Act check. She also took fingerprints at this time. Then I was... read complete review
