My experience at the US consulate in montreal was quick and smooth. I had a 7:30 appointment and I showed up at about 6:45 and i was the 4th person in line. We stood and waited until 7:30 when a security guard came out and let us in 1 by 1 to go through security which is sort of like airport security. Don't bring a large purse or bag, and if you bring your phone or any electronics or anything they will take it from you and return it when you're done.

They double check your appointment letter when you enter and then give you a checklist of forms you need and what order. It is almost exactly like packet 4 so follow that and you should be prepared. You first go into one room for a few mins to arrange your documents this room has a booth for passport pics they cost like $10 incase you forget yours. Then like 5 mins later they brought a group of us up to the 19th floor to sit and wait to be called to the first counter one by one. In my case I had already paid my fees but the... read complete review

I had my interview for June 26 at 8am. We flew into Ottawa and drove to montreal stayed at a hotel called Hotel Fauburg (which was about a 10min walk from the embassy). The room was the size of an apartment for a good cost. We showed up just before 730am and there were 8 people in front of me. My fiance (the petitioner) and my son weren't allowed in only I was. I went through security which asked for your passport and appointment confirmation and went down the stairs to sort my paperwork. Below is what I had:

1. Confirmation of payment
2.two passport style photos
3. Passport and photocopy of passport
4. Original copy of birth certificate
5. Original copy of police clearance
6. Medical exam results
7. Completed affadavit of support
8. My fiance's 2018 w2, 1080 and IRS transcript.
9. Updated statement from petitioner to marry.

Ince we headed upstairs in the elevator when they called me to the desk I ... read complete review

Great experience all and all during my interview!

Stayed at the Campus MTL student residence (cheap, clean, basic and secure) they might just offer it as a hotel during the off school season, not sure! Other great options would be the Delta or the Hilton. These hotels are in very close walking distance to both the medical office and the consulate! Saved us a lot of time in driving and parking!

Got to the consulate early (6:45) and others started coming shortly after. Like it has been said many times before, keep your belongings to a minimum and you will breeze through security. There is a lot of construction in Montreal right now, so I advise scouting out the consulate a day before your interview!

What I brought:
Binder with all documents
Passport
Book

My husband and I met at a set location afterwards to find each other when I was done. So I didn’t have to check a cell phone.

I had my interview on June 12th. I came to Montreal from Toronto the day before via train and stayed the Hotel Travelodge, about 10 minute easy walk to the Consulate and 15-ish to the Central Station. Decent hotel if you're there for a short visit; rooms are very small, but that was fine as I was alone and only stayed one night.

I arrived at the consulate at around 7:45 for my 8:30 interview, where there were 2 others ahead of me. I handed my passport and appointment letter (I just printed the email confirmation) to the girl at front who placed a sticker on my passport and handed me back the letter along with a laminate sheet stating your number and how to organize your documents. I was then taken through security -- as others have said, it's kind of like airport security where you have to put your things in a bin and walk through a metal detector. I was then told to go to the elevator to the 19th floor where the waiting began.

When I heard my number cal... read complete review

Hi everyone,
My interview was on May 21st, 2019. Reading these reviews was so helpful to me so I thought I’d write about my experience. To be honest, I really enjoyed my morning there. I read about the first come, first served policy on this forum, and planned to be early. My appointment was at 8:00am but I arrived at around 7:00am. I had my 1 year old infant with me. I ended up being 1st. I made a friend in line, this sweet woman who was making my baby laugh. I had read on here that you should chat with the others just to have the time go by faster and to ease your mind of worry, and that’s exactly what it did! I felt barely stressed at all after laughing and conversing with my new friend. I brought the bare minimum to the Embassy. My paperwork in a folder, diapers & change pad for baby, and a little bag of Cheerios for her. All in a reusable grocery bag. I had to bring my cellphone since I took an Uber to the Embassy, but they didn’t mind storing it for m... read complete review
