My appointment was scheduled for 7:30 am on Sep-11-2019. I got to the consulate around 6:50 am, and there were only two other people ahead of me. Waited until 7:30 for the consulate to open, went through security - only had my folders with me, no bags or phones. The people at security were professional but nice, didn't really exchange pleasantries just said hello . I was handed a laminated sheet with my line number and the order in which the documents were needed.
After getting through security, I was instructed to wait in the basement with the others where we had the time to organize the documents in the order they were listed on the laminated sheet. About 10 minutes later, another security guard came and herded us into an elevator and told us to go to the 19th floor. We sat and waited for 15 more minutes and then one-by-one we were called up to windows 1-3, in our line order. The documents were requested in a totally random order, so I don't know why they asked us to o... read complete review

Also had an 8:30 appointment on September 11th. I was expecting a crowd but it looked like more appointments had been scheduled for 7:30am. I got there at about 7:50am, there is still construction around the building. I walked there from the YWCA hotel about 15-20 minutes away (great option if you're looking for something cheaper downtown). I arrived a day early and checked out the embassy location the day before, which I definitely recommend just to remove that extra stress of getting lost the morning of the interview!
When you enter they immediately ask for your passport and appointment confirmation so have them ready (I handed the one I had printed from the website). I brought nothing but a 5-star zip binder, newspaper, and iphone. I was given a sheet with #10 on it and list of documents to have ready. Metal detector isn't super intimidating, like going to a courthouse or legislative building. I told them I had my phone and they directed me to the person to store it a... read complete review

My appointment was scheduled for 830 and I showed up to the consulate around 8. I expected there to be a long line based on what I read in other reviews but there was nobody outside and one other person had just gone in so I headed inside.
The lady before security was friendly; took my passport and looked at the copy of my appointment confirmation. She put a sticker on my passport, handed me a laminated paper and told me to arrange my documents in that order and proceeded me to security. The security guards were alright. I tried to make conversation asking how their morning was going... they told me it had actually been a pretty quiet morning but didn’t really engage in anything more which was fine.
After getting through security I headed down to the basement where I organized my documents in the requested order and then headed up to the 19th floor. I sat and waited for probably 30 minutes before I was called up to a first window. This woman was s... read complete review

My fiancé said that his experience at the Consulate was great—the people were helpful and nice, and the process went smoothly. As long as you follow what’s needed for the K-1 on the packet 4, you’ll be fine. From his interview time until he left was less than an hour and it was approved.

My interview was on March 13th, 2019.
The staff were courteous and friendly. It took under 10 minutes to be interviewed once they brought us on the elevator.
IF YOU HAVE TIME: Montreal is a gorgeous city! Don't forget to visit North Americas second oldest basilica church while there! Its absolutely worth seeing!
