Hi everyone,
I had my IR1 interview in Montreal on October 15, 2019, and was told then that it would take two to three weeks before my passport was returned to me with my visa. It has now been well over a month and I've had no news. Calls and emails just result in being told I "just have to wait." I've seen others post here that they have had interviews since mine or on the same day, and have already received their documents.
The ais web site hasn't changed since I registered for my appointment back in mid September. The CEAC site still says that my case is "ready", though yesterday the "case last updated" field was changed to November 13 -- maybe a sign of movement?
I am wondering if a computer issue may be the cause of my delay and would love to know if anyone else has had the same experience.
While I was meeting with the consular officer for my actual interview, the computer they use to match my fingerprint to the oath wasn't working. The fingerprints I gave when submitting my documents in the first part of my appointment went perfectly well -- this problem only arose when I was in the second part -- the actual interview -- and asked to swear an oath that the information I provided was all accurate, while placing my fingers on their fingerprint machine.
I was asked to wait and the officer was very apologetic for the delay. A technician rebooted the computer but it still didn't work. Then I was told they had a form I could sign that might suffice, and they'd have to check with Washington and then let me know. If it would not suffice, I would have to return to the consulate. So I signed that form, and a couple of hours after leaving the consulate I received a call saying that all was fine, and that there was no need for me to return.
So my question is: Has anyone else had this experience, and if so, did it cause post-interview delays?
