After 14 long months of my son and I waiting to be with my husband, we were finally approved this morning!!!
I will submit a review of our experience.
We got in line at the consulate about 7am. There were 5 people in front of us. The doors did not open until 730am. When we got inside, the room and security room were very very small. The lady asked us for our passport and courier instructions ONLY. Then, we went through security. No bags are allowed, unless it is a small purse or a CLEAR bag. You can bring a folder for your documents as well. No electronics, phones laptops, briefcases of any sort are allowed. If you do bring these things, you WILL be turned back. They will ask you to go to the eaton centre and put your stuff in a locker. They will not make any exceptions. Also, for those going with children, no strollers are allowed. They turned a woman away this morning, and she was only allowed to bring in the car seat,
Next, we went down t... read complete review

I had my K1 visa interview on May 1st, and it went extremely smoothly. Everyone working there was extremely friendly and helpful. I stayed at Hotel L'Abri du Voyageur which was a 10 minute walk from the consulate. Got to the line-up at about 7:15am. There were already about 10 people but some got turned away for not having a DS-160 print out or for bringing a large bag/backpack. I believe the guard, very kindly, directed them to use lockers nearby (my best guess is at the Eaton Centre). I only brought a binder, my wallet and a plastic bag to keep them in. Keep your DS-160 and your passport page handy to show to the person who screens you initially.
After quickly going through the security scanner, I was directed downstairs to take a seat and wait. I followed the tips I read on VisaJourney (see Saylin's post with pictures) and sat near the elevator, and also moved to the back of the elevator so I was nearly first in line when we got off at the 12th floor. This probably o... read complete review

My interview was on April 21st in Montreal and started at 6AM. My interview time was at 7:40 but thanks to VJ I knew to be there ahead of time to get in early as possible! I left my hotel at 6:45 and I have no idea what time I arrived as I left everything electronic at the hotel. There were already about four people waiting in line (unfortunately in the rain but we all had umbrellas) until the doors finally opened! First few people were sent away due to the bags they were carrying so the woman checking interview letters checked two people in front of me and then mine.
Got to the security and only had my coat, umbrella and binder so got through pretty quick. Was the first downstairs to sit down by the elevator. It quickly got very crowded so luckily I got there when I did. Maybe 20 minutes later the security guy came down and told us we were all going to the 19th floor and everyone crowded all at once to the doors and I very quickly got stuck behind a group of people. Nearly eve... read complete review

The medical first:
I went to Dr Cheema's office in Surrey and after checking in, was asked to take a seat. About 10 minutes later, the receptionist called me up and asked to see my passport, interview time/location email, packet 4 letter with my case number on it, 4 passport photos and my immunization records. I sat back down after everything was verified and then was called in about 15 minutes later. A nurse measured my height and weight.
Dr Cheema sailed through a bunch of medical history questions, a physical exam which included an eye exam, some poking and prodding, listening to my heart and lungs and took my blood pressure. I was in the exam room for 5-7 minutes. Really sweet ladies working there with great senses of humour! I was directed to another office to get X-rays and a blood test done. It is a 30 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride. X-rays and blood tests took another 45 minutes. The results were ready the next day.
The interview:
