Arrived at 7:30 AM for my 8:30 interview on April 25, 2016. I waited about 15 minutes outside until the officer called in and asked if I had my phone with me. They ask to turn off your phone once inside. A lady with an iPad asked for my interview letter and passport and provided me with a laminated paper with applicant number written on it. Then I was asked to go through the security. I had my car keys with me and they gave me a small piece of paper with a number and said to retrieve the key once I am done and headed out. The piece of paper was really small and can be easily lost. So make sure you keep it safe.

Then I proceeded downstairs where the elevator was and after about 10 minutes we were escorted upstairs by an officer. Once upstairs, people with applicant # were asked to be seated in the middle and those who were there for non immigrant visa were asked to line up. The time was now 8 AM and I waited around half an hour until my number was called to go to window 1... read complete review

I arrived at around 7:10 (did not have phones with us) for my 7:40 am appointment on April 13, 2016. Was the 4th person in line by that time. I was worried about my documents size as there were other people in line with large folders and binders. I only brought what was listed on the checklist. For the evidence of ongoing relationship, I only brought 4 pictures of my fiance and me.

At around 7:30 I'm guessing, the guard came out to let us in. He told us to get DS 160 ready with our passports. My fiance was with me and he was allowed to enter the building with me. When we entered the door, a lady was there checking out appointment time and she handed me a piece of laminated paper for Applicant #4. We went through security (had to take coat, belt, watches off). I set off the metal detector (must have been my ring) and was checked with the portable wand metal detector thing.

Waited by the elevators as stated in several VisaJourney guides. Stood in the back o... read complete review

So I had an appointment at the US Consulate in Vancouver at 10am.
The night before, I read some reviews about interviews that happened in the past, and so I conclude that instead of coming half an hour in advance, I would come at 7:30am in the hope of getting it over with sooner.
Nope.
I was told to come back at 9:45am.

So my and my cold ass we walked to a coffee shop, and I thank myself for bringing a book because I would have been bored to death otherwise. I was there alone, because my fiancée lives in San Diego, and my roommate was on call for work.
Anyways.

I asked a guy what time it is. 9:00am. Fuck that, I walk to the US Consulate. it's raining like crazy, I'm freezing, so I REALLY HOPE I can get inside the building.
Nope. Too early, again.

I sat on the stairs for half an hour, fingers purple, ass stone cold.
I stood up and went to the entrance. There, a lady took my passport, my confirmati... read complete review

My interview date was set for April 4th at 0830, a Monday.

I flew into YUL/Trudeau Airport Saturday night from Vancouver and stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Downtown which is across the street and one block over from the consulate. They also allow a late checkout at 3pm for a small fee.

The consulate is located in a grey SNC-LAVALIN office tower. However do not go in the main entrance on Rene Levesque, the Embassy entrance is located around the corner on St Alexandre street. It's the only entrance on that side and there will be signs out front as well as the US Consulate shield above the door.

I arrived at 8:00, and was allowed into the lower waiting room area. The main consulate elevator was down so they were escorting us in groups of 10 to another elevator.

Upstairs the waiting area is setup similar to a DMV with a really nice wrap around view of the Montreal area. An attendant will separate you into one of 3 groups. US Ci... read complete review

My interview date was April 5th 2016 at 1:00 PM. At first, it was supposed to be 10:30 AM, but changed for unknown reason. I was a bit relieved because I did not have to drive through Montreal during rush hour, which lowered my stress by a lot.

If you are driving in Montreal the same day as the interview, you could always park at the underground parking lot at the medical, while getting your results. Unless you miss the street, like i did, the consulate is a 10 minutes walk max. Its only a small street that you wouldn't even guess that the consulate could be there. The door is hard to miss though, there is that american eagle seal right over it.

Once you are there, its quite simple. Follow the instructions and there will be no trouble. Enter the door when the guard tell you to (not the friendliest one around for sure...), show your appointment letter to someone, he will give you a number then wait in line for the screening. Other than your coat/documents/w... read complete review
