My fiance and I (the U.S. Petitioner) arrived at the consulate at 7:40AM. There were about 8 people in line before us, however many people cut in line, and the security guard paid no notice and when those in line pointed to the back of the line, this was always ignored. Our appointment was at 8:30AM, and I had heard that sometimes they turn away people who show up more than 30 minutes in advance of their appointment, but we had no issue. As soon as you get in line, the security guard will instruct you to turn off your phone. As a general note, although the consulate website says bags/purses of 12" x 10" x 6" are allowed, it's completely up to the discretion of the security guard outside. A man with a small backpack of that size was turned away, but a lady with a slightly larger backpack was let in for some reason.

The security guard let in groups of 2 to 4 into the building at a time. When we got to the front of the line (after about a 5 minute wait), he checked the DS-... read complete review

My appointment was scheduled for today, November 30th at 8:15. My fiance and I stayed at an airbnb about ten minutes away from the consulate and left the apartment shortly after 7:00. When we got to the consulate at about 7:20 there were a few people ahead of us. I was worried about being too early for my appointment, but at 7:30 the security guard came out and put up signs and rope to form a queue and then instructed everyone to take out passports and ds-160 confirmation pages. They then let people into the building about 2 at a time. When we got in they looked at my ds-160, put a sticker on the back of my passport and gave me a laminated sheet with the number 4 on it that listed the order you should put your documents in and another sheet for their purposes where they mark the time you enter the building. They also asked for my fiance's ID before he could enter. After that we were told to queue for the metal detector. Again they took people in 2 at a time and we gave our phones to th... read complete review

My appointment was for 7:45, November 30, 2016. I showed up at 7:20. There was a long line up outside and it gets long very fast. It was so cold. Luckily I was third in line! Security guard finally comes to open the door at 7:30. He told us to prepare to show our DS-160 (confirmation page) and passport. Also, turn off your phone. Only one person was allowed in at a time.

After I presented these documents to a man at the lobby entrance with an iPad, he gave me a laminated paper with instructions on what order to put my documents. He also gave me another paper to hold on to.

Then, I passed through screening like you would at the airport. I put my medium sized purse and coat on a few trays to be scanned. I also gave my cellphone to the security guard. My screen is cracked and it is old so I wasn't worried about anyone stealing it (I wanted to buy a new phone with a plan, but since I knew I was going to America, I had to hold off on it!).

After... read complete review

I had my interview on Wednesday, November 23 at 8:00am.
I arrived at the consulate for 7:40am and there was a small line outside of the consulate of about 8 people. Everyone had their folders in their hands and nobody really had a purse or bag. I seen 3 people get turned down for bringing large size bags and luggage and were told to leave it somewhere and come back.

Once I got inside I was asked to submit my DS-160 form and a lady with an iPad registered my name and gave me a number. I was number 5. After that I went through security, similar to that of an airport and was told to empty my pockets and put everything on a tray. I left my cell phone with security and they gave me a ticket to reclaim it when I was finished.

I was instructed to go downstairs to the basement where a group of 20 people sat quietly. The paper I was given with the number 5 on it had a list of all the documents I would need when I got upstairs. I took the time to sort through... read complete review

I had my interview in Montreal on November 23rd. My fiance and I drove 8-ish hours on the 22nd and stayed at the Travelodge on Rene Levesque for two nights driving home the day after the interview. Luxurious it wasn't but small and clean and inexpensive for those of us who are budget conscious. My fiance waited for me there.
My appt was for 8:15 and the walk from the hotel was less than 5 minutes. I arrived around 5 to 8 and they guard ushered me right in to the vestibule and told me to see the receptionist with my passport and DS160 acknowlledgement. She gave me my laminated sheet with number 9 on it. Then I stood in line to wait to go through security into the lobby. Very much like security at an airport but was allowed to keep my shoes on. Instructed to go to the basement for the elevator to the 19th floor. Once there I was told to sit in the middle bank of chairs and wait for my number to be called. This gave me enough time to organize the paperwork as liste... read complete review
