I had my CR-1 interview this morning. I made sure to read the last few years of reviews and they really helped!

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott which is just down the street by about 300 yards. Great, newer hotel and the 747 airport shuttle stops nearby for cheaper transport to and from the airport ($10/person). We flew in on a Friday for my Monday appointment so we bought a weekend pass for $13.75, and that included access to the 747 airport shuttle. Really good value if you don't mind using public transit to explore the city.

Our appointment was for 10:30am. We arrived at 10am and they turned us away and said to come back at 10:15am. We walked over to Starbucks across the street and returned at 10:15am.

A lady checked us in at the entrance. As others have stated, you are given a laminated paper with a number on it and that becomes your number for the interview. It also has instructions on what order to put your paperwork in, and warni... read complete review

Thanks to tips from this site, I was staying in the hotel nearby and had my morning coffee next door Starbucks - as the system had surely changed so that you are only allowed in very close to your interview time. Mine was at 9:30 and I was told to come to the door at 9:15 (sharp). Security is no big deal, like airport security and suggest that take the smallest possible bag for you papers as they seriously do not allow big bags inside. Elevator sure is slow ---, but then everything happened quickly, window 1 before I even sat down, then the other window for interview, that's it. Done in less than an hour. Surprise effect: friendly lady at window one who collected my original documents asked for divorce papers of my American husband - those had not been asked, copied or sent any time before the process ! Luckily I had original divorce degree in same folder with my original marriage certificate, lazy me took the whole folder to interview not just the marriage certificate that was asked. ... read complete review

I had my interview at 8:45 am on January 4th, 2017.
I tend to show up earlier for my appointments, on this day I was there at 7:30 A.M.
I thought I was going to be there all by myself for a while, but when I got there, there was around 10 people already lined up.
Even though the U.S. Embassy does not open until 8:30 am, they start letting people in.

Make sure you don't bring any bags to carry your paper work. Bags are not allowed.
I had to run all the way to Eaton Center (Mall) to put my bag on a locker.
By the time I came back I lost around 12 turns.

Once in there, they check your appointment letter and passport and they assign you a number.
Then you are screened by the security personnel and they keep your cellphone. They give you a ticket that you need to use to get it back once you are done.
Once you clear the screening process, you need to go to the 19th floor.
Make sure you get your num... read complete review

My fiancé flew up to be at the interview with myself and my children (he applied for K2 visas for them). We arrived at the consulate 30 minutes prior to our interview time. There was no line and the gentleman at the door let us in and we gave our documents to be checked in and were given our number along with a checklist for documents needed and then sent through security. We made sure to leave all phones and electronics behind so we had no issues going through. Up the elevator we went and thankfully when we arrived we saw there was an area or kids to play so the wait would hopefully not be too bad. It took a little over an hour for our number to be called, I went up to the window, passed all the information the gentleman asked for in the order he asked (which was not the order printed out of the sheet given to us downstairs), I had to give a bit more information as they were processing both K1/K2 visas but I knew that and had everything ready. The gentleman was polite and very hel... read complete review

I have had a very good experience at the Montreal Consulate for my interview. My interview was at 10:30 and they let me in at 10:15. I thought it would take a while since I was literally the last one admitted but I was out of there by 11:30. The people working there were very nice and professional. I have nothing bad to say about the consulate. My only piece of advice is to have all your documentation ready.

Good luck to y'all,
