Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiancé flew up to be at the interview with myself and my children (he applied for K2 visas for them). We arrived at the consulate 30 minutes prior to our interview time. There was no line and the gentleman at the door let us in and we gave our documents to be checked in and were given our number along with a checklist for documents needed and then sent through security. We made sure to leave all phones and electronics behind so we had no issues going through. Up the elevator we went and thankfully when we arrived we saw there was an area or kids to play so the wait would hopefully not be too bad. It took a little over an hour for our number to be called, I went up to the window, passed all the information the gentleman asked for in the order he asked (which was not the order printed out of the sheet given to us downstairs), I had to give a bit more information as they were processing both K1/K2 visas but I knew that and had everything ready. The gentleman was polite and very helpful, once he had everything in order he sent me to sit again and wait for my number to be called, that part took a fair bit of time about an hour and 15 minutes - I can only assume because there was a a lot of paperwork to read through. When I got called the gentleman had me bring in each of my kids to prove they were the kids on the passports and then we continued with the process. He asked a few simple questions, how did you meet, how often do you see each other, what does he do for a living, what did I do for a living and that was that. When he said welcome to the United States I was over the moon! I ran out to tell my fiancé and the kids we can move home.
