What a journey!

We became DQ’d 2 June much to our surprise. We filed an expedite request 27 June for emotional hardship. This was approved 7 July and 15 July our interview was scheduled for 28 July 2020.

Flying from Victoria to NSW required more preparation during COVID19 due to border restrictions. I had about 10 documents as evidence of my “legal requirement” to be in NSW. This was accepted by all 3 NSW health officials at Sydney Airport.

I stayed at the Travelodge in Martin Place. I was there from the 27-29 July. I would give them a 3.5/5 stars - mainly for cleanliness of the room. Really easy to get to the Consulate though. So I would stay there again if I had to go back.

My interview was scheduled for 11:10am. I arrived at 8:30am and was told to come back 30 mins prior to interview. Arrived back 30 minutes prior and was told to come back 10 minutes prior. I think this was due to covid.

My fiancé was there for just about an hours and the interview portion was less than 10 minutes. We didn't deviate from the K1 cover sheet provided in the P4 but he said that some of the people before him were asked for photos with their partner. They told him he was approved and that it would take up to 3 weeks for him to receive his passport and package in the mail but he had it in hand within 3 days. Overall, it was a pretty smooth experience.

The security guards were nice and helpful and directed you where to go each step of the way. My appointment was at 8am. I got to the 10th floor at 7:45 and was the first one to arrive. I was directed to a desk where someone went through my paperwork. She made sure I had all documents that were on the checklist. She put it all in a folder and instructed me to hand it to the person at the desk on floor 59. I then go through security and leave my belongings there in a cubby and head up the elevator to floor 59. You get an appointment ticket, sit down, and wait for your number to be called. You give your paperwork that's in the folder to them. She kept every document that was on the checklist, including i134's supporting documents-3 years tax return transcripts, letter of employment and bank letter. (our paperwork included 1 years worth of pay stubs and bank deposits as recommended by other VJ members-- no one even looked at these). She took my fingerprints and had me go sit down to wait f... read complete review

my husband had his review yesterday and had an appointment time of 10:30, but arrived at 8:30 (and was out of there by 10am). We arrived, got the documents checked, went through security, then went to the 59th floor. You take a ticket, wait, get finger prints. Then they double checked some of our documents, then got called up to the interview window. The interview lasted about 5 minutes, and we got asked where we were going to live, what we planned on doing for work, and some small talk. It was really easy, really fast and everything was approved (pending medical results which haven't yet been sent from Melbourne). We should expect his passport back within 3-4 weeks.
