Of course it is. They MUST have the passport to issue the visa (it is printed in the passport) and she was leaving and needed to take it with her. Now she has to send it back so they can print the visa and send the passport back to her a few days later.
The 221g is just an official reminder to send her passport back
Thank you i feel much better with this answer!

Congrats! still waiting to hear about the 221g here.
-
It is because she needed her passport to go back to Cayman. Had she waited in Jamaica she could have just picked up her visa later. Seems as though she is approved but couldn't wait and needed her passport back to go home.
This is correct but i didnt think this is reason enough to issue a 221g is it??
BTW: thank you for responding and trying to help me out!

Bump....Can anyone help?
-
She had the passport at her interview but has to mail it in so that will make them give 221g?
-
Its standard procedure for people from Cayman islands interviewing in Jamaica to mail the passport in to get the Visa stamp but while she was told to pay the DHL and she can mail back her passport when she returns to cayman she got the 221g form with a check box marked plaese maill passport back to xxx embassy address.
They cant take her passport at interview because it takes a few days to issue the visa and she wouldnt be able to fly back to cayman for her work. Im just curious if its normal to give 221g just for this reason!

I need to find out from Anyone who is not from Jamaica but had the Interview in Jamaica if they were given a 221g because you had to mail your passport back to Jamaica after the interview to get it stamped.
-
Yeah thats all that was checked, anyone else have any input that may help???

I just found out earlier today that my Fiancee ACTUALLY got 221g but she said its just because she has to send her passport back to Jamaica via DHL to the embassy to get her Visa stamped. The 221g was a standard form and had a bunch of document names in a list with check boxes but nothing was checked so i guess whats not checked is not needed. The only thing that was checked was a box that said please mail passport to and the embassy address. She said the CO didnt say the word approved or denied he just told her at the end (YOUR FLYING BACK TO CAYMAN OH LET ME HELP YOU GET OUT OF HERE). He then instructed her to go to the DHL window and pay but make sure to tell them its for immigrant visa because its a different price and theres a lot of documents they will have to send back to her. He also told her she can mail the passport as soon as she returns to cayman. She returned to Cayman with a self addressed DHL envelope from the consulate going from Cayman to the embassy and then from the embassy back to Cayman.
My question are...
Is that normal to give 221g for just because by default of where she lives she has to mail her passport in for the stamp?
And has anyone else here been to a Visa interview in another country because the country where you live didnt have an embassy or consulate and you have to mail in the passport like she has to, if so were you issued 221g for this?
Does anyone think this 221g is just a technicality because she hasnt given her passport yet although she did take it to interview with her.

Ok i need help, although Kristines visa was approved she forgot to print and take the DS-230 to the interview so while in the interview they had her fill one out but of course it was missing all her school information and dates as she didnt know off the top of her head and also dates of places she lived for at least 6 months since she turned 16.
Anyways my question is this, should she send the Original in with the DHL packet and her passport to request they put the Original with her packet as it is more accurate? The one she filled out in the interview also didnt have the page 3 sworn affidavit, what do you guys think? And if so should she sign page 4 although it said dont write below this line because i think its meant to be signed in interview which she is already finished with?

if your good in photoshop get 1 passport photo made and have it put on CD or flash drive take the file home and open it with photoshop or even MS Paint. Start a new project with a 4x6 canvas size and copy paste the 2x2 passport image onto the canvas, you can fit 6 2x2 passport photos in 1 4x6 now you can save the 4x6 and take that to the local shop to have printed as a normal photo avoiding the expensive costs of having passport photos made. There the exact same only without the additional cost, thats what i did
.
Our K-1 used a total of 12 passport photos all up and they normally cost 7 bucks a pair here in the U.S as opposed to 26 cent prints for a 4x4 at Walgreens or CVS <---local drugstores here

Wow if your wife could only see what you mean to her by just the fact that your here in this forum desperately seeking ways to make her happy. Its good to see posts like this now if only she were able to see this i think shell be back in no time lol.
P.S Brazil isnt about social classes, i have brazilian family members and from what ive been told is that the poor lead happier healthier more carefree lives. Theres no closeness with family/friends in the American society, Brazilians have barbeques and cookouts and dancing and parties every weekend without the stresses of work. Have you thought to move to Brazil or ask her if that is what she wants, maybe it would be worth it to try. What is a job in the U.S if you cant be happy.?????

Hi Everyone,
I was told that my letter was sent to the local consulate in Jamaica, What should I do while waiting to receive package 3 in my mail? Can I go ahead with police record and Medical etc? Also can a sucessful applicant tell me how long the actual interview lasted (question and answer part)? Is it done in an enclosed area or is it at the usual windows where everybody else goes? I would really appreciate some real advise as to what to do after NOA2/ package three for K1. Thanks in advance
Dont wait for packet 3 i waited over a month and it never came, you can email the completed forms to kingstonacs@state.gov and the forms can be found here http://kingston.usembassy.gov/fees/forms.html also ask for the invitation letter within the same email and they will process your request.

They're not saying there's anything WRONG with it, just that they couldn't do it. And I'm sorry but I feel the same and so does my husband. We're just not at the "kid" stage of life yet, and not ready for that responsibility. I DO admire those that do though.
This is exactly correct, there's nothing wrong with it at all and in fact i applaud the man for taking on such a responsibility but i guess some people read English differently than others.

Off topic, you guys make a good looking couple and although i couldnt marry anyone with children i admire those that have the courage! looks like you got a good man congrats...

Ok so Kristine will have her interview on the 1st and i wanted to write a letter to the CO affirming our relationship. I previously petitioned someone who was already living here in the U.S about 7 years ago but we divorced within 4 months so i wanted to convey that this time i am ready, is this letter ok or is it too much?
To whom it may concern,
I Michael Yost wanted to say how much I cherish Kristine Renelie Gonzales Guron and vow to support her in every capacity for the rest of our lives. I started this petition after traveling to see Kristine 4 times and several thousands of hours in verbal communications via Skype, phone and various other channels. I have tried at best to visit her on average of every 3 months in the 1 year and 6 months since we have been together. I knew after the third trip to the Cayman Islands that I was going to ask Kristine to marry me thus bringing our Journey to her interview in Jamaica. Although I was previously married I understand at that time I was not secure in my life or ready for a real marriage mentally or financially. It is because of my past experience I put a great deal of thought into my decision to ask Kristine to marry me and hope that we will be together again soon.
petition approval will expire in october
