  1. Another example of why to not get the airline tickets until it is in hand... Likely the made a clerical error at the time the pink was issued and forgot to put the police cert in the file... This sounds so similar to when Bernies wife had to go through Biometrics again after the pink had been issued... (fingerprint collection problems)

Great news that it all came together for you guys..

Time to get the hangers

I agree with this, I bought her ticket ahead on good faith, and I'm glad everything is working out but I don't recommend it though.

Awesome, Vince. Are you excited? I know you must be.

I'm very excited, it feels like a very long and tiring journey. She sent me a picture of her visa last night, I looked at it and thought to myself "we went through hell and back for this piece of poo??!", they could have at least dip it in gold.

Thanks everybody for our kind words. To be honest I'm gonna miss Skype  I think I've been so used to the routine of being on it an hour+ everyday. We even got drunk with each other a few time over skype after some of them bad days.

  2. I've been nervously waiting for today. My fiancee had her interview on March 17th, in which she received the pink slip on the spot after seemingly a very short interview. She was then told to come back on the 25th to pick up visa, she showed up as scheduled only to receive a white slip. The white slip specifically asked for her criminal record, something she did have with her at the interview process but they never looked at it. This was very odd as I have never heard of such request after the pink slip was already given. She came back on the 28th to hand in the criminal record, after 3 hours of waiting they finally told her to come back today to pick up visa. She called me as soon as she got out of the consulate today to tell me she FINALLY GOT HER VISA!

Now that is is finally over with visa in hand, I would like to take this opportunity to thanks every individual that had helped answering my questions. I'm very grateful that I've found this place which make the process a lot easier and bearable. I'm leaving in a little over a week to see her and eventually bringing her over at the end of May. I'll make sure to stick around to return the help that I had received. Thanks again to everybody.

  3. Interesting. All online sources I find state that it means 'premarital sex'. I haven't found anywhere where it says 'no premarital sex'.

You are right. An com truoc keng = premarital sex, khong an com truoc keng = no premarital sex.

  4. I wish I knew more about their conflict history to have a better understanding of what they were going back and forth on. Either way I thought it was funny with all the names dropping that was going on, I felt like I was back in grade school playground yelling "ohhh yeahhh?! well my dad can beat your dad up!!!" in a kung fun stance.

  5. People over there believe every single thing they hear about the process and it's truly annoying! They freak out about every little things, and now I'm going to add going back to school to the list.

  6. I think the CO's gut feeling is the only logical explanation for the approval in my case. I met my fiancee 2 months prior to getting engaged, and I got engaged on the first trip to see her. Some might say it's b/c of the overwhelming evidence that we have, while it is true we did have overwhelming evidence of the relationship, but the CO didn't even touch any of that at the interview...so yeah.

  7. You are getting married before she enters the US on a K1?

I did the same as did Brnie and we both ended up with change fees because of the delays.. I didnt mind the fee but for some they may not be able to afford it.....

If you marry her in Vietnam they will cancel your visa, on a K1 you must remain single until you are in the US. IF you are just doing the ceremony for her family without signing any documents then you are fine. Just make sure you dont sign anything!

We're well aware of the circumstances. There is no legality involved in this wedding, no paper work whatsoever, we will have another one once we get in the states. We are very family-oriented and since most of her family are in VN, we must have something so that they can attend and celebrate with us.

  8. My fiancee is supposed to pick up her visa this Friday, and I just already got her ticket booked! I guess I just have faith like I did during this whole process. I'm coming back to get married to her then she will be coming back to the states with me.

  9. Congrats to Vince!

Spelling note: A "hangar" is where you park an airplane. A "hanger" is what you use to store clothes in a closet.

And yes... buy lots of them!

    Thank you!!

Yeah, the misspelling threw me off a little, I thought these chicks demand planes as soon as they get here

She has till Friday to pick up her visa, until the visa is in her hand I'm still a bit nervous.

  10. Your "Noooo.." heading is misleading by the way :P A big congratz on you PINK !!!

I intended it to be that way

Awesome news and many congrats. Glad that people can see that it is possible.whistling.gif

    Buy hangars.good.gif

Ok I'll be the first to admit, I didn't get the hangars reference, can somebody elaborate

  11. Congrat!

When did NVC send to HCM Consulate? When did you received package 3? For me, NVC sent a letter dated January 13, 2011, to me stated that it will send o HCM within a week. Right now it's March 16 and my fiancee is not receiving anything. I wonder how long it will take.

I receive the letter during chrismast, a week after that she got the instructional package. She sent in her DS forms on Jan 10 and by Feb 10 or around there I found out the interview date by calling the NVC.

congrats! may i ask what red flags you had, or where you thought you might have problems? what time was the interview and when did you fiance' arrive?

I don't know if I would call it red flags, but more like problems. First, our relationship has not been that long. We started to talk to each other in April of 1010, by late May I decided to go back and see her. Our plan was to meet and see if we are as compatible in real life as we are online, and if we do click I will come back in December to do our dam hoi. To my surprise, this girl swept me off my feet. She has everything I was looking for and I knew I had to go for it before somebody else does, so I decided to have our dam hoi in June before I leave the country.

I started the petition as soon as I came back in July, I came back again for two weeks during thanksgiving to see her, and that was it, it as only two trips. I thought length of our relationship and the lack of visits would hinder our chance of passing but fortunately they saw thing for what they really are, a true relationship between a young couple.

Even though I only visited her twice, but I know for a fact I have never talk to anybody as much as I talk to her, mostly through Skype or Yahoo when skype isn't available.

  12. ...............freaking way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PINK ON THE SPOT!!!

For those who has been keep track of the interview roll call, you'd know that my fiance Truc has her interview today. She just called me with the pink slip. She said she waited from 9:30, by the time she got the slip it was exactly 11, and she clearly stated her interview did not last not much longer than 5 minutes.

She's too excited to recall the questions that were being asked, but I will post them up once we come down from this high!!!

On a different note, she said she saw quite a few people being interviewed for +30mins just to get a blue slip.

  13. According to the "Appointment Package For K Visa Applicants":

You must obtain copy and original for the following documents. We will return the original documents after the interview. All documents not in English or Vietnamese must be accompanied by certified translations, which include a statement by the translator stating “Translation is accurate” and “Translator is competent to translate”. In some special cases, you may be requested to submit translations for Vietnamese documents.

That applies to all of our paperwork correct? I'm asking b/c my fiancee, who tends to pay too much attention to other people, thinks she needs to get all of her Vietnamese paperwork including original birth certificate, criminal record ect translated to English. I think this is unnecessary, so who's right?

  14. You are being prejudjed. They ask alot of these dumb questions that don't have a correct answer as a basis for turning you down. The CO's basicly feel that if the relationship is real then you will apply again. Many times the blue or pink is already typed so they have already made a decision. Even if you know all the answers they will keep digging until they find something. It's as simple as that. If you are being asked more than 10 questions then you getting blue. Now you have to wait a few months to get the letter from USCIS saying the case is past the expiration date then you can refile. This is the US govt for you. Welcome to the club.

The common blue slip as of late is the one in which they ask for both parties 10 years residence and the beneficiary's relative in the us, they typically give you a month to turn this in. Several members have turned it in early than the assigned date and were given pink on the spot.

  15. I'm an die-hard biker (I owe a 1000cc super sport bike) so naturally I prefer being on two wheels. I've taken my fiancee on 2+ hrs rides from her hometown into Saigon and I find it an enticing challenge to navigate through the local traffic. I got pulled over once simply b/c my attire stood out like a sore thumb among thousands of other riders at that moment. If I was coming back by myself I would def prefer to be on two wheels again, but I'm coming back with a few other people so I most likely I'll go with the taxi route.

  16. What was your choice of transportation during your visit in VN? I'm going back in a month with a couple of friends and I'm thinking about just hiring a personal driver for the duration of the month. Last time I came back I drove once and that wasn't fun at all, so I ended up taking my fiance around on her dinky 125CC moped, but now that I have friends coming back to me, I have to come up with a safer way of getting around.

  17. well a Blue Slip for us. they request 10yrs residence from both of us (which we already have but the CO didn't look at it). They also want a time line (the CO also didn't look at this). Lastly they want me to write an affidavit about my ex. Information about her birth date, birthplace, current address, phone number and how she got to the States (who sponsored her). I just have to modify abit of my 10 yrs residence, and time line. but for the affidavit about my ex, i know her current address but we haven't contact each other and I don't have her phone number. Do I just address that in the affidavit? I'm going to try and get these documents done in the next few days so I can send them to my wife. Can she submit the documents by next week to the VN consulate? because on the blue slip they gave us til March 30. And after turning in the requested documents, and if it gets approve do they give the pink right away or they contact my wife to come and pick it up?

Wow..that sucks! Looks like the blue slip for 10 years residence and time line has been getting very common. Our interview is in two weeks we might as well expect this even though we already have everything. From what I've seen, if approved they will give you the pink slip but they will tell to come back later to pick up the visa.
