  1. This is not correct. A legal permanent resident may file a I-130 petition for their spouse but the visa will not be immediately available to an LPR like it is for US citizens.

OP, you are free to marry in the U.S. but because you are now a permanent resident you are looking at a 3+ years long wait for your future wife to be able to immigrate to the U.S. because she must wait for a visa to become available.

  2. He doesnt need any money to travel. He has his tickets...And again you are picking him up?

What does he need money for?

Nigerians with misinformation=Out of this world!

Thank you kunleseun, I thought as much but wanted to put his mind at ease. Yes he has the tickets and yes I am picking him up (the reason no money is I need it for gas and tolls) I heard the rumor mill about the misinformation regarding money for traveling but of cousre he just don't want to run into any problems so is crossing his t's and dotting his i's. Thanks again!

That is classic scammer talk, they have made up a BTA ( basic travel allowance ) and it has repeated so often that it is almost acccepted as fact. Joseph came with less than $50 just to cover snacks on the way. So if you hear a number above that you are hearing lies.

Thanks Nigerianbust, I have heard about the BTA thing and tried to assure him that indeed this is backlash from this lie but of course he wants to be sure so I told him I'd ask. Thanks so much!

  3. My husband has been told by a few people that he needs to have a certain amount of money to travel to the US I have not heard this anywhere and told him I would post this here just to make sure there is no required amount of money he needs to travel with. We are both broke (grrr) with the HIGH amount we had to pay on airfare and I will be meeting him at the airport so he doesn't need carfare. Please can anyone tell me is there a shred of truth to this?

  4. Wow. how I wish I would have known about the airline tickets you guys purchased. We spent 1600.00 for my hubby's. His visa is said to be ready tomorrow and because it is holiday time didn't want to take the chance of not finding a ticket we could afford so walked on faith that it will be ready when they said. But darn, had we waited perhaps we would have found a cheaper ticket according to you all....

  5. HELLO MY BELOVED VJers...HOW YOU ALL DOING...I HAVE A REALLY VERY SERIOUS QUESTION TO ASK AND I PRAY I GET ANSWERS FROM U GUYS MY FAMILY HERE..

I WENT TO KAMORAS HOSPITAL IN LAGOS FOR MY MEDICALS AND THE DOCTOR SAID EVERY OTHER TEST IS NEGATIVE BUT..I HAVE TO GO FOR THE SPUTUM ACID TEST..ITS A TEST FOR POSSIBLE TUBERCULOSIS INFECTION..I ONLY HAVE CHEST PAIN..BUT NOT ANY TUBERCULOSIS SYMPTOMS LIKE COUGHING AND such as a chronic cough, weight loss, fever, chills, and weakness, that may be due to TB or another mycobacterial infection

    MY QUESTION IS

    1. IS IT AN ILLEGIBILITY IF FOUND TO BE TUBERCULOSIS...AND WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

2.. THE DOCTOR SAID MY MEDICAL RESULT WILL BE OUT IN 6WEEKS SO I WONT BE ABLE TO HAVE MY MEDICALS FOR THE INTERVIEW....WHAT IS THE IMPLICATION?

WILL I STILL BE INTERVIEWED BY THE CO...AND ASKED TO COME WHEN MY MEDICALS IS READY OR WON'T BE ATTENDED TO UNTIL MY MEDICALS IS COMPLETED..COS THE DOC SAID I SHOULD JUST TELL THEM MY MEDICALS IS YET TO BE READY..

    3. I KNOW I WONT GET A FINAL DECISION UNTIL MY MEDICALS IS FINALLY OUT...BUT I WANT TO KNOW WHAT ANYBODY WHO HAVE HAD THIS KIND SITUATION WENT THRU..

IM LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM U GUYS..MUCH LOVE

Wow...my husband just faced this same issue in August. He went for his medical and every result came back negative but they needed to take a sputum test. At first they told him his results will be back in 6 weeks, then 8, then 10 and after it was all said and done it took 12 weeks with the help of a very nasty email I had to sent to the director of the hospital. My husband was told by the hospital that he would be interviewed as long as he had his receipt. Unfortunately when he showed up for his interview they turned him away at the gate. He had to reschedule his interview and the embassy reschedule three months late (deep sigh). This has been tedious but we have been praying. my thoughts to you is once the results are scheduled to return do not wait for them to call start calling them. Be deligent, the staff at the hospital (our experience) were not to interested in answering questions and will just continue to say be patient. If time elapse (and I pray it doesn't) have you spouse write them and call her senator for support. God bless, I wish you the best.

  6. My understanding is that the expedite only applies to the USCIS. Once it hits lagos it is the same normal time frame. Our interview took about 4 months from the time it was approved by USCIS. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news & I hope I am wrong, but i am fairly certain.

Our case was expedited from NVC to the Lagos Embassy. The CO who wrote a report for my doctors in the US is the one who looked into approving the request for expedition. He was saying that the interview will proably be in late August but that was based on his timeline that it would take a couple of weeks to receive the case from NVC. NVC mailed the case out the day after approval and the case should be in Lagos tomorrow. I was just curious if anyone knew if the Embassy who does the approvals have an allotted time for expedited cases. Since the case will be in Nigeria in half the time he estimated will that affect his estimation. But thanks for taking the time in writing your response.

  7. Thanks for your responses. When I was in the hospital in Lagos the consulate that came and visited me in the hospital did say that my husband should have his interview in August...just wasn't sure exactly when. He was estimating that the case would get to Lagos in two weeks and it will be there in less then a weeks time so wasn't sure if I would then minus a week. but thanks...we were blessed to have the consulate see us together while I was admitted in the hospital.

  8. Hi all...I have a question geared more towards other Nigerian applicants who may have had a case expedited. Our case was approved for expedite and it is on it's way as we speak now to the Embassy. I know that Lagos is a very busy Embassy. Does anyone have a clue of whether they allot slots for expedites? Has anyone had their case expedited and have a general timeframe how long the wait will be?

  9. I just asked NVC who told me for Cr1's NVC schedules the appointments for my country and the embassy schedules the appointments for K1's. The best place to get the info is from NVC. The Nigeria embassy website does not distinguish the procedure for the Cr1's and the k1's thus causes confusion. So I suggest just giving NVC a call and asking them if they schedule the appointments for your embassy or is it the embassy

  10. Ryan - yup - that's right - it's a restart -

    but

    in the same breath -

3 to 4 weeks on EP, one week on Final Review/Scheduling, then 3 to 4 weeks on the interview date -

no paperwork shipping via DHL from NVC TO GUZ IV at all.

She needs a 'time-shifter' now - she really needs EP, IMO, to come anywhere close to matching her needs to have him here prior to the birth.

A restart is 'allowed', technically, if the case is not in 'final review'.

    ...otherwise...

figure 3 more weeks anyway to get the dangling bits sorted, another week for final review, then 2 to 5 months of 'shipping time' then another 1 to 2 months for scheduling at GUZ IV, then another 30 days after that for the actual interview.

Pung - did you call NVC last night? I also understand you have a lawyer - the good news is that you can handle all submittals without the lawyer's involvement.

Are those filing in Nigeria eligible for EP?

  11. Off topic but I wanted to share with my VJ Family the birth of our son Daniel Ugochukwu. He was born Tuesday at 3:15. I just came home this evening after experiancing some serious complications but thanks to Jehovah God our son was entirely healthy and he helped me make it through a rough 6 days.I am now able to recover at home with my family and we are so excited about our new edition.

Here is a picture of our little coconut.

I hope everyone is doing great and I pray that you all are also experiancing new joys with your families everyday.

Congrats on your blessing from God...I pray for health and God's blessing on Him...He is beautiful. God bless you and your hubby

  12. Applying for the DCF would address the situation of the lack of evidence but would cause another problem, lack of income. I totally understand that you two would like to be together during the filing process but if you do not have a joint sponsor (it is joint sponsor for CR1) then you will not get a visa. Yes the sister has to make enough to cover four people and as you calculated she does not make enough. Perhaps your best option would be to visit more often to build your communication (in the eyes of the CO) and do a regular CR1. Your income is obviously excellent for a regular CR1, don't give that up or it will cause more problems.

  13. Please don't stop posting here! I sent my packet in January, and my priority date is Feb 3rd. I look forward to your updates, because it gives me hope and an example to follow when I finally reach where you are! So PLEASE! If you do go to the FB page...please don't forget about us here!

    Thanks,

    Shan

CONGRATS!!good.gif I can't imagine how you feel right now! I pray to be there soon!

We December filers have not abandoned VJ, no way! Sometimes nevertheless the negative vibe that is given by some VJer's would cause a person who is already stressed to seek therapy. It was necessary for our sanity to form a sub-group to truly support one another. Perhaps February filers should start one. This is a hard and long road and we need one another. We also need VJ because there is a wealth of information, just wish there was a wealth of compassion.

  14. Called NVC today and got my nvc case # and IIN although it isn't in the automated system yet. I hope the money comes in fast enough to keep up with our progress! We are extremely fortunate for things to be moving so fast. I wish I could do something to help those whose case isn't moving. By the way. Where is everyone? No one has posted in a couple of days. I'm lonely here!:crying:

A lot of us are on Facebook...a group developed by Rosy for December filers. It is a much friendlier environment and close friendships are developing. Hope you can come join us.
