Hi, my name is Tamika and I live in Lansdale, Pa. I married my husband Julius on October 21st of this year. My husband lives in Nigeria and is not working. I am a graduate student seeking my master's in Theology. I am a devout Christian and have asked God for my spouse and he answered my prayers. Julius and I are very happy and will be even happier once this visa process is complete. I recieved my NOA1 mid December dated 12/14. I would love to meet some of you online. Thank you for the opportunity. Grace and peace to you and yours.

I am so afraid to ask this question because I am afraid of the answer but I know I must. I am currently seeking my master's degree and am receiving SSDI, I make well above the poverty level but because it is SSDI will they deny me?

WOW...lol, I had to ask though, ignorance is bliss. Thanks for the advice. We will just save our money and I will head over there. Just missing him so much and know I canot stay in Nigeria longer then two weeks (the hotel expenses is just too much and I have school) and thought it would be so nice for him to stay for 90 days. I will just keep praying for God to strengthen my heart and help me through this absense as I realize everyone else is doing. But again thank you for you for your response, God bless you...

I know that the consulates in Nigeria is the toughest in the world...but is it at all possible for my husband to apply for a visitors visa? Or should we just save our limited resources and wait on the long process of the I-130?

Was looking at my NOA1 and was just curious what 201 B INA spouse of USC mean. I know spouse of USC mean but the latter code I don't understand. Just curious. Also tried to check status with receipt number and it is not working.

Am excited, I found the December filers. I have been a member of VJ for two days now and have felt such a huge relief because I do not have to go through this alone. I filed our I-130 and received the receipt dated 12/16. I am excited and am now focused on gathering the neccesary documents to prove we have a bona fide marriage. Since we are Nigerian filers and I have read the horror stories I feel a bit intimidated but am sure if I cross my t's and dot my i's we should be fine. The phone records is what is worrying me but I have my husband doing his thing on his side and I am doing what I have to do here in the US. I just pray it is enough. Julius and I have decided that I will come and visit him again in April, this will give us the opportunity to spend some quality time together and take a whole lot more pictures. I wish that Nigeria would allow it's citizens to visit during this process but realize that option is just not for us. I have so many questions but I guess I will post them in a different thread. Thank you so much for being such a great support to everyone. I do not believe in luck so I will not wish everyone goodluck but will pray for God's favor. thanks...

Good luck to the Dec filers!
Thank you...I will look for the December thread. Geesh there is so much I have to learn about this site. I am praising God nontheless for this site.

I'm interested in knowing if there is anyone out there who has recently filed their I-130...perhaps we can be of support to one another with our cases being filed so close together. I sent my case in on December 10 and received my receipt on 12/16. Is there anyone else out there that would like to share, perhaps we can start a thread?

Thanks villaspurs, your encouragement is really appreciated.

Thanks everyone for your replies.....
Just so I make sure I am understanding you correctly I should forget about filing the I-129f and just wait for USCIS to send the I-130 petition over to NVC. If I send the I-129f over to USCIS at this time both the I-130 and the I-129f will be sent over to NVC at the same time making the I-129f cancell itself out...right? It will take USCIS 5 months to send my petition over to NVC? So even though I would be sending the I-129f over to them a month later they will still be sent to NVC together? Does it generally take them 5 months to send the petition over to NVC? I was under the impression that the entire process for the petition to be processed for it to be sent over to the consulate in Nigeria took 5 months and then the wait occors once Nigeria receives the petition. Since the K3 visa is no longer an option for those who are married is the interview process for those attempting to receive the CR visa the same? And please can someone tell me the difference between the K3 and the CR visa?
Oh...how can I develop a timeline? Since I just discovered I have not received my NOA1 is it to early to develop a timeline, I guess I am really early in this process. I am so happy that I made plans to return to Nigeria in March because it is now breaking my heart to find out my petition will sit with USCIS for 5 months before any movements are made

That one made me chuckle. Over on a China immigration board, they sometimes talk about someone called "The Black Pearl" this seems to be applied to any African-American interviewing officer. This is an urban legend. I suspect local prejudices work the same way no-matter what consulate.
Is always to best prepare a solid case for the interview no matter where or who conducts it.
Thanks everyone for your replies.....

Thanks for the response....
I recieved a receipt, the Notice of Action that was dated for 12/16/10...I didn't submit it on the 14th of December, that is when the office received it. I mailed it on the 7th of December. If I am still saying it wrong, please help me understand. Also if the I-129f is not valid anymore then why are thhey still suggesting it? And what is the difference between the two? Sorry for my ignorance, I just want to be informed...Thanks

Hi everyone,
I'm going to file my wife's petition soon. I already have everything i need to do it, but i have a question for anyone who has done this before. in the filing guide for this type of package it says to include some documentation that provides evidence of bonifide marriage. what king of documentation did you guys prided to prove that. My wife is in the Philippines so we don't have a house or properties, she lives in her mom's house. we don't have children either. also this: (Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties havin gpersonal knowledge of the bonafides of the marital relationship (Each affidavit must contain the full name and address, date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit, his or her relationship to the petitioner of beneficiary, if any, and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage) how or where do i get something like this? i know that this has to be done by someone like a family member, but is this a form or just some kind of notarized statement from a family member stating that we are married? If you guys can provide any help with my issue I would really appreciate it. I cant wait to be with my wife in the US. im going to visit her this Jan.
Hi,
I not to long ago sent my I-130 and my husband is living in Nigeria and we also do not own property together or have children together. I had his brother and a friend of mine who attended the wedding write a letter that was notarized affirming that they were witnesses of our marriage as well as our relationship. So providing a letter appears to be the right thing to do that is notarized. I did get a NOA1 for the package submitted so it seems to have been approved atleast at this point. Hope that helps.

Hi everyone,
I am very new to this site and must say I am so excited that I stumbled accross it. I have filed my I-130 for my husband who resides in Nigeria and received the NOA1 for that petition on 12/14 and approved 12/16. I am now putting together the I-129f but am a bit confused. It appears that the waiting time for both the K3 and the other visa (forgive me I cannot think of the name for it at the moment) is the same. Should I submit the I-129f or just wait for the process of the I-130 to be completed. I do not have much resources and this cost...I plan on submitting the form tomorrow after my husband and I have the opportunity to pray over it...I don't know...please can someone just give me your opinion?
Thanks....TJ
Nigerians...Is it possible for my husband to visit me on a visitors visa?

If that was possible believe me I would stay in his home in a heartbeat. He lives with his sister, two brothers and niece in a two room apartment. He sleeps in the same bed as his brothers therefore there is definately not enough room for me. I would be very uncomfortable and we would not have the privacy that we both need.
