  1. Voting is citizen's right, not a privilege and unless your advocating that we move away from a democracy, suggesting we take away that right is nonsensical.
A democracy? Are you suggesting that you actually get to vote for president??

In any event - if we HAD a democracy, then yes, I would suggest moving away from it. Even the founding fathers were wary of creating a democracy - which is little more than mob rule with voting.

Thank god for the electoral college!!!

  2. I just had a political phone call - just now. It went like this:

    *Ring*, *Ring*

    Me: Hello?

Caller: Hi! I'm Beth, I'm calling from the Democratic National Party - how are you doing today?

Me: Wow, Beth. You sound kind of sexy. What are you wearing today?

    *Click*

  3. Such a tragedy.
And why exactly is this a tragedy, worthy of national news? Is there a big shortage of 8 year old boys in the world that I should be concerned about?

The only tragedy here is that this event may negatively impact me and millions of other responsible, law-abiding citizens.

  4. There is a trembling beneath the surface. It is the "silent majority". The only time you hear from these people is on election day. This is when they speak. They dont answer polls when called. They dont participate in exit polling. They keep there mouth shut and vote.
This is me. I also think there are a lot of people like me.

Last time a poller called me - a few days ago, the person said, "Hi, I'm calling on behalf of (candidate name) and...." and I said, "yeah? Do you know what (candidate name) can SUCK?? I bet you do!!" and hung up.

I'll be voting Bob Barr for president - I hope you do too.

  5. I'm curious why she doesn't have valid social security number.
Maybe not everyone is willing to sacrifice liberty for the sake of convenience and submission to the tyranny of government?

If she is eligible for US citizen, she should have it.
    Why?

But then as somebody else pointed out, how did she file tax return?
Not everyone is required to file a tax return.

It doesn't make sense to me.
    No doubt.
  6. I think there is a lot of embarassment which would only be made worse by having members of the other sex around and would probably hinder learning.
There is only embarressment because people are socialized that way. If we would stop socializing people to be ashamed of their bodies and to treat sex as some taboo topic, this kind of attitude would stop.
  7. Why not teach them what they really need to know - how to get laid.

The boys and girls were divided up and we were taught about our particular anatomy.
This mentality is part of the problem. The whole notion that the issue can't be discussed in mixed company, and that, for some reason, sex ed should vary based on gender - rather than EVERYONE getting ALL the info.
  8. Not surprising.
Me either. The way I figured it, no judge in the nation want to be the one to rule ineligible (even if true) the first black man with a real chance of winning the presidency. Also not surprising the judge took the easy way out, instead of ruling on the actual merits of the case.

Besides all that - I mean, really, how trivial is it to simply produce a copy of one's birth certificate to put an end to any reasonable possibility of doubt? You'd think that one would do it simply to put an end to the issue (among the reasonable anyway). I can't think of any good reason NOT to.

All of that aside - it doesn't matter to me who the president is. We could appoint Ahmadinejad as our president for all I care. Would probably do at least as good job a job as either of the two doofuses who may actually get the job.

  9. Any citizen should have the right to bring any case against anyone if it involves the violation of the U.S. Constitution (or potential such violation). Such violations are a crime against the entire citizenry, its fundamental basis for law and the nation as a whole. How anyone can claim that the harm against citizens is "too vauge" is beyond me. It seems fairly obvious. When certain provisions of the constitution can be violated with impunity, the government loses its legitimacy. If the harm in that is not obvious, well, not much more I can say I guess.

Power of government is supposed to derive from the willing consent of the people. If those people do not have "standing" to challenge that government on matters of the constitution, they are powerless against the tyranny of government.

  10. Just don't understan why on earth in USA, they charge for incoming calls and incoming text messages :protest::ranting:

I am not much of a phone person, but still charging for incoming is sooo wrong.

Because people are willing to pay for them.

If you don't want to be charged for incoming services, do not give out your phone number and/or keep your phone turned off unless making a call. Not too hard.

I have no choice to text him as it costs a lot to call to his country!
You have plenty of choice. You could not call! You could send e-mail. You could record a voice message and send THAT e-mail. You could use Skype....plenty of choices...you simply don't choose them.
  11. Surrick ruled that Berg lacked standing to bring the case, saying any harm from an allegedly ineligible candidate was "too vague and its effects too attenuated to confer standing on any and all voters."
How can this possibly be? It's the same as saying that the constitutional requirements for office simply do not matter.

Judge the merits of the case - if he is eligible, or not eligible, then fine - but to simply say that, in effect, the constitution doesn't matter is ridiculous.

  12. Seems to me you were supposed to feel bad because you were called 'classless'. I wonder why someone thought they needed to try to make you feel bad? What a waste of time that is...not to mention juvenile :)
It's that whole tolerance thing at play. It's OK to call a classless person a classless person, but it seems it's not OK to call a ** a **. Funny how that works.
  13. Many graduate programs, however, will still want to break your undergraduate degree down into its component parts. This is especially true if you are shifting disciplines. Often after evaluating your undergraduate course work they will require certain undergraduate classes in addition to your graduate course load, to make up for any perceived gaps in your basic course work. For example, a chemistry major working on a physics graduate degree might have to take some additional undergraduate maths. This holds true no matter where your degree is from. I don't know how common this is, but the graduate programs I've looked into have all done this. (CA and CO universities.)
    Yes this is true. But from the tone of the discussion, it sounded like people were interested in transferring credits so they could earn another undergrad degree. I was trying to encourage anyone whom already has a degree to get the degree itself recognized, not JUST the credits transferred - and then get a graduate degree, not another undergrad one (;
  14. i read the instruction, it doesn`t say a lot about money order , all they said is don`t abreviate their address and so on..my question about my money order is, what should i put beside US dept of homeland security, do i need to put my address and and signuture?
Do the instructions say you need to put your address and signature?
  15. I checked with my astrologer. She gave me the thumbs up.

Then I checked with my tarot card reader. She also gave me the thumbs up.

Then I consulted with my palm reader. In the course of reading my palm, she of course touched it here and there, and that got me kind of warmed up. Then I noticed that you know, Mistress Bloodwitch is really kind of cute, if you can look past all that black #### she wears on her face. So, she caught me looking into her eyes - and kissed me! I was shocked. Well, I kissed her back, and the next thing you know, we made mad, passionate doggy-style love, right there on a 13th century woven carpet that once belonged to some great Pakistani war lord. After we were done, I asked her, "so, what do you think? Should I marry this other wench?" She said, 'oh yeah, your love line shows you will have a long, happy life together."

So, hey, we got married and that was that. I still look fondly about my roll on the carpet with Mistress Bloodwitch, but I don't think I will tell my wife about it.
