FYI, USPS has the cheapest overnight service! It's 62.50 . They always deliver on time with point to point tracking. I think it outsourced through FedEx. As of today, I still haven't heard anything about our case. I am submitting contacting my senator today. Has anyone has any good results from seeking political help?
REM4ALWAYS, Do USPS have overnight service to Ghana? I'm not sure anyway. I will check with them then. Did you also get that update on ceac.state.gov wabsite lately? that says: EXPIRING SOON?

Hello Nyala, I was just about to type out a letter and fedex it to the embassy in Accra, just as a precaution. On the expiring notice, it says to do that, to outline why the petitioner has not gotten the visa in the time stated. I am still going to do it, just to be safe.
lutz that is a good idea ,I'm doing the same too now. Hope that will put us on the safer side. My Senator's office has received my appeal too and the officer said she is contacting the embassy/consulate tomorrow to find out. So let's see what happens

Call NVC
Jenilyn and Awal, I called NVC and they said, nothing like that is showing on their system, and my case is in Ghana. they still see the case in AP. So what is this confusion about? what should we do now with this EXPIRING SOON update on a case which was recently reaffirmed?
-
lutz, finally I got hold of NVC yesterday but the agent said there is nothing like that showing on their system, All what they know about my case is that the case is with the embassy in Accra ,so I should contact the consulate. but as usual I sent 2 emails but nothing yet. So what is the latest at your end?

That is correct, email NVC and the embassy that you are still pursuing this case and make sure you have documentation
of the email, you may not if you call in, you can do both though.
Normally the embassy will extend it automatically but since they are so unpredictable email for the extension just to be sure.Ebunoluwa, so do I need to do something now that I have evidence for reaffirmation of the case?...I mean do I need to do new visa application? D-260 or D-261? I'm really confused about this update message of : EXPIRING SOON.
I emailed the consulate twice yesterday about that new update on my case but as usual: SILENCE !!!!!!

Hello Nyala, I just spoke with my attorney's office. she said she's been trying to contact the NVC, because other's have gotten this message and it's not correct. The offices seem to be closed, maybe due to some snowstorm up in DC. She said it is not correct. She refiled a DS 260 for my husband after the reaffirmation and told me I'm not the only who has gotten this type of message. So maybe it is just a mistake. If I were you, I would try calling NVC directly to see what is going on.
Yeah lutz, I tried NVC's number several times but it was not even going. So I will wait for a while and try again. I even sent an email to the consulate in accra to find out I hope they clarify the issue.

Hello, I also have the same message. I have forwarded it to my attorney and am waiting to see what he says about this. I will keep you posted.
lutz did you also get the message this morning or before ? I don't have an attorney so I'm sending to my Senator today. lutz don't you think that they have reached our files and someone has touched the reaffirmed cases for our interview dates? Let's hope so

Hello, can you be more specific? From where did you receive this update? From the embassy? From USCIS?
lutz thanks for your quick response. I got this update from ceac.state.gov , (Immigrant Visa status) of Department of State. The update changed this morning from Administrative Processing to : Expiring Soon.
That is what happened

Ebunoluwa and all experienced VJ members. I'm very confused about this new update (Expiring Soon) while waiting for my reaffirmed CR1 interview, Is that normal or possible? Do I need to contact NVC or the Consular about this? O is this an error message? I really an explation

Great, I'm glad you've contacted your senator. I contacted my congressperson, and they have people who work specifically on immigration matters, so I'm sure your senator's office has the same. As long as a representative is on your side, that's what's important. Everything with the embassy in Ghana takes a long time, and I have no idea why. Let's keep the faith and hope for a speedy response from them.
lutz, Ebunoluwa and others, I don't understand this update this morning on a reaffirmed CR1 expiring soon? Does CR1 application expires? After reaffirmation and sent to the Consulate for interview? Or it is just a wrong update message. the update changed from AP to ES (Expiring Soon). Is that possible and normal?

lutz and all reaffirmed cases, I have a question: Do CR1 visa application expire while waiting for a reaffirmed visa interview at an embassy?

Hi nyala62, how are u, it's been a long time. Glad to hear from u my brother. I'm glad urs have move forward. Did u get a lawyer or u respond to them urself? Also ours was sent back in March and uscis received it in April, and I know we went to the interview before u guy's, so just curious about how urs has been responded faster. Once again I'm happy to hear from u my brother.
trustG Yes it has been a long time, No I did not hire an attorney, I did everything my self by filing an appeal/motion to reopen or reconsider and I won. my wife's case was reaffirmed. But I sought the help of my Senator to have the case sent back in time for rebuttal. So I contacted the senator once again to help me find out the interview status for the case,
So what is the current status of your case? May God Almighty help us all , Amen

Yes OhBoye, that lady caused a lot of harm in 2015 to many people. But like u said, she has made up her mind those she will grant and those she will not,. God will see us through.
Insha Allah, I'm one of that lady's victims in November 2015. But we have responded strongly, and by the Grace of Allah the case was reaffirmed in December 2016, waiting for another interview... Hope this time around we will be fine. Let us all pray.

No, they certainly don't. One thing I will tell you from my experience this time with involving my congressperson, is that for the Privacy Notice release form you will be sent, it will be your spouse (the person in Ghana for whom you are petitioning, in other words the applicant) who will need to sign the form. I filled out the form for my husband, then scanned it to him and he signed it, sent it back to me, then I in turn sent it to the person in the congress rep's office who handles immigration. Good luck and keep VJ posted.
lutz so no news about your reaffirmed case up to date?. I contacted my Senator already and sent them all the necessary documents. I'm waiting to see what is gonna happen. Don't really know why it takes too long now to get an interview date from Ghana

That has been my experience with them also ,?Ours took from Jan to June to get appointment from them . I just keep calling them with the question is it there yet. I think like everyone says they have a lot of returned cases and this is just normal for Ghana
Oh My God, Jenilyn and Awal.. this is bad ,6 months to get the interview? WOOOOOW,, Our is almost 2 months now

So the visas are no more received at the Embassy like before? I didn't know that
-
lutz ,I just found this thread. I'm contacting my congressman too, we never know, that may help at least to locate the case.

Hello,I also received an email this morning and was annoyed.
In the email, it stated the date and pouch number in which my husband's file was sent back to USCIS. Then, the writer stated that 'it could not have been reaffirmed'. I had to go into the USCIS website and copy and paste proof that it had indeed been reaffirmed.
The way these people treat us, as US citizens, is ridiculous. I would understand the writer saying it has not reached the embassy yet, but to make this definitive statement when he / she doesn't even know anything about the case is ridiculous. It got me so worried again for nothing, absolutely nothing.
Definitely get your congressperson involved. I am cc - ing all my correspondence with them with the congressperson. How can it take a file over one month to reach the embassy?
Personally, I believe the National Visa Center. They are just an intermediary where the file stops on its way back to Ghana. They don't have much to do with it anymore, once its been reaffirmed. Just the email from the person at the embassy showed me the attitude they have. To blatantly just say it could not have been reaffirmed shows an arrogance. The person answering the email just assumed he or she was correct and stated it to be so without any research or delving into the case.
As citizens, we have to get the congresspeople involved with this. Not just a few of us who have been separated for so long, but all of us.
Yes lutz, we need to do something now....otherwise. I'm involving my congressman tomorrow, just to know where exactly is my case. too much waiting, so they don't feel for us? OMG!!!!!

Yes, that is the pattern with Ghana. If NVC emailed you the pouch number it was send in then Ghana "has it".
"Has it" as in : it is sitting in a pile in line to get processed. Ghana returns so many cases and most are reaffirmed
so there is a queue to enter the file into their computer system and then wait again until a second appointment becomes
available. Count on several months wait time.Ebonoluwa, thank you for your info, but NVC just sent me an affirmation email and a snail mail to my mailing address, and the NVC stated clearly the date the case was sent. So are they not telling us the truth? I doubt. So can I request the diplomatic pouch number in which the case was sent? Just as proof?....This consulate in Ghana!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ebunoluwa and all the VJ members: Question:
Our case was reaffirmed and shipped to Accra ,Ghana since December for interview but the Consulate in Ghana claiming it has not receive the case yet, is that possible? So which Agency is telling us the truth? NVC or the Consulate?

I just wrote to my congress person today. I will also send to Senator as well.
lutz, I received an email reply today from the consulate in Accra that, they don't have our reaffirmed case in their system yet and they will contact the applicant whenever the receive the case. Is it normal for a case to travel for more than a month to Ghana? So which Agency is telling the truth? NVC or the consulate? Please help us with some ideas about this. I will involve my congress man today or tomorrow

Efofie, yes we submitted enough
bravagreen, do you mean you did not receive a letter fro NVC about the date the case was sent to Accra Ghana? This is strange. We received an official letter from NVC telling us the exact date the case was sent, when I called NVC the same date was confirmed, but we have not heard any word from the Consulate in Accra. According to NVC our case was sent on December 29, 2016. I emailed them more than 3 emails but no response. Should I continue sending or just wait?

lutz I'm using my state senator . I don't where the congressperson is , I think all of them are government people so it is all the same. Did they receive your package at the Consulate? you will find out if you track it. I sent mine yesterday too and today I saw the same update message repeated yesterday 02/16/2017. This is crazy
