  1. I'd like to apologize beforehand if I am posting in the incorrect place. My wife has recently been approved for her Adjustment of Status (Yay!, feels so good to finally have gotten past this point.), and we're interested in visiting her family as a little surprise. What I would like to know is if my wife has already received her Permanent Resident card, is she required to have any other type of documentation for the reentry in to the U.S.? Your help is appreciated.

For those of you just starting. Keep your head up. It's worth the wait, the work, the stress. It will pay off in the end. Good luck to you all!

  2. You live happily ever after ;)

It will take ~2 weeks for her to be in the system from POE in order to apply for a SSN so that you guys can then apply for the marriage license. You get married than file for Adjustment of Status, Employment Authorization and all that other fun stuff. Make sure you file everything at the same time so that you don't pay double fees. That is the big picture in a nutshell. I am sure there is a more detailed thread on this though.

Congrats to all of you guys with visas in hand and the ones with interviews approaching. Smooth travelings !

Hahaha. Already married with the SSN # that was previously given to her while she was here on the J1, I am going today to apply for a new card for her, haha, did I mess up?

  3. Hey there people. Long time no speak. We left Moldova on the 26th of May and arrived on the 27th in Maryland after getting stuck in Italy for 20 hours due to losing our flight. Woo! We got married this past Saturday. It was beautiful. Her getting adjusted was a little difficult at first, but now everything is gravy. I can't believe there are still October filers waiting, crazy stuff. The whole waiting thing feels like a distant memory now. It get's better guys. Hang in there. So, now on to the next step in the process. I can't wait to be finished with all this and call it a day. Anyway. I'm back, for now, if you guys have questions or anything, shoot!

  4. Our interview went well... We arrived 20 minutes early, but they didn't open the doors until exactly 9:00AM. We went to one section for them to scan our medical packet. Went back to the main building and was called immediately to window #2. There, she took two copies of her Birth Certificate, I-134 Form (without any tax papers, letters from work, paystubs, or anything at all), Medical Packet, Police Certificate, and her Passport. After that, we were asked to be seated, as we sat waiting we saw a gentleman looking over our papers, little did we know that he was the Consulate Officer. He was smiling and laughing while looking through it all, so that seemed like a good sign. A few minutes later he called us into the little room, both of us as I expected. He was very polite, smiling a lot and asking how we are doing. Asked me how long I have been here, when do I plan to return home. He then asked my fiancee to leave the room. He then asked me how we both met eachother. I told him the entire story. He laughed and smiled all the way through then asked me to leave the room and ask my fiancee to enter. He then asked her the same question, called me back into the room. Told her to raise her hand for an oath, and said "Can you come back next Tuesday at 4:00PM to pick up your visa?". lol... I told him I would hug him if he wasn't behind a glass window, lol. He replied, hug your fiancee with a smile. He was a really nice guy and everything went a lot smoother than I thought it would. All that worrying, taking pictures on Skype and other evidence that they didn't even bother to ask for. All and all, it took 25 minutes total. Today is a good day, next week we will be on our way home.

I was to thank everyone for their support and help on this long journey. It is appreciated. I couldn't have done it without you guys.

I wish the rest of you who are waiting lots and lots of luck. For those of you who have just begun the process, hang in there, the end does come.

  5. ; Thanks to all your responses.

I really hope that we are just delayed, and hopefully we wont be denied after so long..

We either have no issues regarding age difference/religious/etc

Aaron is 5 year older than I am, he is a Catholic ("light", dont know other name), and I grew up with no religion. Though, we don't have problems with that AT ALL!!

We met each other online in 2008 on a normal profile site, I flew to the US several times per year, and he came to the Netherlands a couple of times. We both met each other families. We all love each other and get a long very good!

I just sooooooooooooooooooooooo hope a decision will be made by May 27th, because that would be the 30th day after we put in our Service Request.

Hopefully everything will turn out well, so i can sleep again (I'm worn out of the sleepless nights) Hopefully things will work out very well and very soon for Monifer!!!!

Same with us and the religion, tho it is me who doesn't have one. Also, this sucks, I hope you get answers soon!

  6. He asked me and my fiancee the questions. Most were to me and then he'd ask her the same question in a different way.

How did you meet, Plan to do in the US (asked twice to see if he would get the same answer), 5000 questions about my dad and his job since I mentioned he worked for State Department during my explanation on how we met, Why we want to get married in the US, Would her parents go to live in the US once she is there and why we wanted to get married so young

What was your answer to so young?

If one were to receive their visa, could they purchase seperate tickets to get to their destination, or would it have to be one ticket all the way through to the final destination?

  7. ok people , wut is the first thing that you do with your wife(or husband ) when they are here in the us ?. me , i am gona drive her around the area where i live . when i met my wife few years ago back in vietnam she is the one that drove me around on her scooter , then taught me how to ride scooter. then after that ill order fast foods like pizza so she know what it taste like. there are fastfood restaurants in vietnam yet most of them dont taste like the real stuff we have here in the us. post stuffs that you did , or plan to do with your spouse on here people , that will give me ideals of what to do to keep my wife happy and ease the culture shock that she will have to go through. i can not do guy stuffs like shooting , fishing , fix car , build a gaming pc or go out to bar for a drink with her since most women dont like stuff like that( and my old man told me to stay away from girls that like to do that stuff  ).

lol, I built a $3500 gaming pc while I was waiting.

I am in Moldova now with my fiancee and we have been talking about this. We both agree that the very first thing we are going to do....... Is go eat some cheese steak subs. Yum! Then go grab a pack of Newports because they dont sell those here.

You can do guy stuff, because she might like it too, my fiancee is so excited that I am going to take her shooting, something she has never done before. She wants to try fishing, she likes playing games with me. If you are going to spend your life with someone I think the most important thing is that you both enjoy the same things.

    Anyway, good luck!

  8. The Embassys in each country have a different way of making interviews. For example, the philippines can only do it after they get several documents and then they do it online and they can pick the date. In Brazil, once the Consulate gets the package from NVC, they schedule the interview (can email 1-2 weeks after they get it to know the date ahead of time). And some, like yours, require the beneficiary to have some documents before they can schedule.

    All country specific pretty much.

Thanks bro! Good luck on your trip. I have been in Moldova since April 15th. I can not wait to hit the homeland. "There's no place like home".

  9. our medical is tomorrow as well

keep me updated on ur results

    GOOD LUCK!!

and Blob - good luck on ur interview

    Good luck to you too!...

How do you already have an interview scheduled?...

Here is what my packet said:

"After she has all the other documents pertaining to her case she is welcome to write us an e-mail at Chisinau-CA@state.gov in order to schedule an appointment."

I am tempted to request it now, knowing that I will have the other documents by tomorrow.

  10. I've been in Moldova since last Friday. Other than losing one of my bags somewhere in transit (which was returned to me two days later), everything is FN awesome man! I am with my love, we are spending great quality time together, her family is just so cool. Really nice people to be around, even tho my SO has to translate everything, lol. Her friends are really nice and it turns out that we have more in common than one would have thought. It is nice to see everyone getting there approvals. It is about time, for those of you who have received RFEs after such a long wait, I am really sorry to hear that. I hope that things turn around for you guys very fast. As I am here, I wouldnt be posting for a while. Just wanted to stop by and say hi and give you the low down. I will come back to post again after I am finished at the embassy, wish me luck!

  11. DS-156... Does it need to be printed front and pack, or can I print them on seperate sheets of paper per page? Thank you!

The question also applies to the rest of the forms included in Packet 3.
