  1. Saylin,

    Do we need to submit Social Security Earnings Statement, with AOS package? My husband doesn't get any benefits, so does he really need to get this statement?

    I seriously don't know what this statement is all about.

    Unless the petitioner is self-employed, you can just send the tax transcripts from the previous year(s).

    So, my case was shipped to the NVC on June 4. Of course probably a bit prematurely, since the NVC seems to have fallen apart, I am trying to complete all the paperwork so I can send in the IV/AOS package ASAP. For the I864, does my husband have an A number somewhere? I did not see it on the NOA2. Thanks

    For most beneficiaries, the A number won't be assigned until the visa is issued (if they didn't have one previously from dealings with immigration).

  2. I'm gonna make one extra post to thank saylin for her wonderfull wiki, i've been doing the research and the whole document stuff from germany cuz my hubby was working alot and even though my english isnt too good and i never did anything with english documents, we had no mistakes and no checklist

    ONLY BECAUSE of saylin and all YOU ppl on this forum, any time i had a question i got it answered, any time i was down and upset i got support here,

    im VERY gratefull, thx everybody *huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuug*

    Yay, glad my wiki was of help! :)

    Congrats on your CC by the way :dancing::dancing:

  3. I hold Ukrainian citizenship, born and raised there, but I have been living in the UK for the past 5 years on student visa, so I applied for the green card from the UK. but my residency expires soon, so am thinking of having an interview in Kiev

    Ah, okay. You can call NVC and explain this, and they'll likely tell you to email them your request, along with proof of Ukraine citizenship and residency (so you may have to move there first before you can request, but not 100% sure).

  4. My husband filled a CR-1 spouse petition for me and my son on 21 april 2015. We still haven't received our USCIS or NVC number. How long is the process for it. I'm in Australia and my husband is an American citizen

    You're in the wrong thread. This is for those with approved I-130 petitions. You're going to want this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/543298-april-2015-i-130-filers/

    Please read the entire thread to see if others haven't gotten their NOA1 yet either.

    Hey guys,

    We got 3 N/A's on CEAC website three days ago, should we be calling to NVC for case complete? does this for sure mean we have a cc? How long does it take for them to send out an email and interview appointement? Scan date 30 April 2015, (had AOS checklist 30 days after original scan date)

    You should have called the day you got the extra N/A on the CEAC site, so definitely call today if you haven't already.

    A case complete email typically takes 7 days to receive. For the interview email, you'll get it once an interview date is assigned, which varies by country. At this point, once you confirm a CC, you should join the interview thread which is linked to in the first post.

  5. Called tonight and miraculously got through the first time and didn't have to wait on hold! I found out they received my case today or maybe yesterday, the rep just said they had started putting my info in their system today. Was told to call back in 4 weeks for a case number. I figure I'll call in 1.5-2 weeks.

    Do they log every time a person calls about a case? I wonder if they have it on your file if you bug them a lot on the phone.

    I wouldn't wait 1.5-2 weeks to call again. It shouldn't take that long to assign a case number now that they're inputting your case. I suggest calling back next week.

    And yes, they log every single call you make (date, time, purpose of call, etc).

  6. Hello guys!!!...I really need your help asap...I am still confuse.My husband is my petitioner(I-864). My husband living together with his parents. We are using a co- sponsor which is his dad(I-864A). His parents are filing taxes jointly. I am still confuse what forms do they need to fill out. Can anyone help me please?... :clock:

    Please tell me if these forms are accurate for them:

    I-864----Petitioner (my husband)

    I-864A----Co- Sponsor ( his dad) ==== contract between my husband and dad

    I-864A-----Spouse of co-sponsor (his mom) ===== contract between dad and mom OR contract between mom and my husband?????

    Please enlioghten me..

    I rather would suggest:

    Petitioner: I-864

    His dad: I-864

    His mother: I-864A

  7. Thanks, I'll definitely look into that.

    So, I just called a different number found on this page: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/general/assistance-for-applicants-experiencing-technical-difficulties.html

    That lady basically reviewed my DS-261 right away (Choosing myself as an agent) and told me they'll be issuing the IV fee invoice. Awesome! She also said that they were advising people who are unable to pay online, such as myself, to make the payment via mail.

    Looks like progress can be made after all!

    Oooo, I'm going to add that link to the first post. Nice find!

  8. Hi Saylin. Your first post says NVC is "open every other business day (Monday-Friday)". I think you meant to say "every bussiness day". "every other" implies they are open mon, wed, fri closed tuesday and thursday. Just wanted to clarify....

    It's based on the preceding sentence about when they're closed for holidays, thus being opened on all the other business days (that sentence can have two meanings, you took it for the other meaning to mean alternate days). Since there isn't any holidays this month though, that second sentence might make a little less sense than it usually does.

  9. June thread has been posted: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551109-nvc-filers-june-2015/

    Everyone, please make your way on over there. This isn't like the I-130 filer threads where you stay in the same thread the entire process. Each month, we all move to the current month, now being June. Within a day, Ryan will come along and close this thread from further comments, so head on over now :)

  10. Welcome to another monthly thread for those going through NVC. Good luck to all! Please read everything below and refer to it throughout your NVC journey, whether this is your first month at NVC or your third :idea:

    IMPORTANT INFO: in regards to the CEAC portal issues, please read this page here on NVC's website.

    This thread is strictly for questions and progress. If you want to rant about this ridiculous process, please do so in this side thread here.

    NVC will be closed on the following day due to federal holidays: No federal holidays in June!!. They are open every other business day (Monday-Friday) this month.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Before posting questions, please read the wiki I wrote on the NVC process here. Once you're done, read it one or two more times to really understand it ;) Don't forget to also read the official form instructions as well as USCIS and NVC's websites!
    For up to date time frames, you can view my spreadsheet here. If you'd like to add/update your entry, please fill out the form here. Please be aware if something is wrong with your request form submission, I issue my own version of a checklist. So please read the instructions I wrote on the request form very carefully.
    If you want to see a visual of the NVC process, please view my flowchart here.
    I will be much less active in answering posts in these monthly threads, so don't bother asking me questions directly and please don't send me PMs with questions. If you send me a PM with a question that can be posted here, I will NOT reply. Just post them here for everyone to see and someone will come along to answer. Remember to be patient (re: just post once and wait) ;)
    And if for whatever reason, you can't find the answer, try searching both on this website and on Google. It's amazing what you can find if you search ;)
    If you're wondering about time frames, I've got a spreadsheet available for a reason ;) And if that doesn't help, look at the fellow members right here in this thread! Study their signatures/timelines and make notes. VJ also has this awesome page. Use it! I sure did during my process :)
    And once you've got a case complete, please join Dwheels's case complete/interview thread (currently July), here.
    Also, please read Kanuk's post full of advice and observations, found here.
  11. Hello all,
    I have just recently petitioned i130 for my alien spouse on the 22nd of May '15. Due to Memorial Day weekend it arrived at Chicago Lockbox on the 27th and I received my NOA 1 text message on the 29th. It was indicated that my petition has been accepted and is now being routed to Texas Service Center for processing. My wife and I are keeping very positive about the length of processing times and hoping for it all to be approved soon. I have been very consistent and persistent on finding more information on TSC processing times and read some bad reviews on this forum. Of course, I would have loved for my case to be sent to VSC which is taking approx. 2 months of time for NOA 2. I really wish you all the best of luck on this journey.
    Any updates on current Texas Service Center processing times? A feed back from filer would be best appreciated as I know USCIS website says 5 months.
    You've got the wrong thread. This is for those with approved I-130s already and are going through the next step: NVC.
    You want this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/547796-may-2015-i130-filer/
  12. We don't even call. We just send in our stuff and patiently wait. I like to think that the time they are on the phone could be better spent processing our cases.
    So seven months instead of five at USCIS. and then your daughters case even another four months after that! That's ridiculous.
    I can't even imagine being away from my hubby that long. We try to fly back and forth whenever we can. Longest apart was 5.5 months which was already like infinity for me. Think this time around it's gonna be longer than that, thanx to nvc.
    Little info: phone operators don't process cases. That's a different division at NVC. Phone operators are just contracted out to answer calls.
  13. Saylin,Sorry for bothering you: My point is, if the case is not complete how did the NVC rep said I will need to bring so so and so to the interview? Do they schedule interviews form "Almost Completed cases " too?
    Probably because it was listed in your file as that being needed. You'll likely get a checklist for it by email once you have case complete, telling you to bring it to the interview.
    And no, an interview date won't be scheduled until a case is completed and put into the queue for an interview date to be assigned.
  14. Saylin, Based on what the NVC rep said, is that mean my case is complete with NVC, ? and the interview will be scheduled?...That is the first part of my question
    As you said yourself, the rep said it was ALMOST complete, so no, it doesn't mean you have a case complete.
    Please go to the interview thread linked in the first post and look at the spreadsheet Dwhels has put together. You'll get a good estimate from that on when you can get your interview date assigned.
  15. Saylin, A question for you: The NVC Rep told me this morning that, my case is almost complete, and that I will need to bring 2014 tax information and new I-864 AOS form to the interview, Please what is that mean? and if I filed an extension, what do we need to take to the interview ?
    If you didn't file your 2014 taxes yet, then you'll need to bring the extension letter with you to the interview. And I suggest having all W2s on hand as well as any other tax documents you might have for 2014.
  16. When you call them everyday, do they say anything about using a particular browser or browser version? at one point I'm just starting to question everything ?
    It's always a good idea to use the latest Internet Explorer version when using government websites. They tend not to test their sites in browsers except for IE, so some things may not work in other browsers.
    Saylin,
    Do we need to send any employment documents and academic documents? Sorry for this silly question, I ve gone through the DS-260 samples. In that they were asking all this info right, so do they ask proof for this? I completed DS-261, how long will it takes to get the fee?
    For the beneficiary, no, those documents aren't needed for IR-1/CR-1 visa applicants.
  17. Thank you, dear Saylin, for your prompt response!
    You just saved my day. I am about to mail my package tomorrow, and your IV package list alerted me of this document.
    This is exactly my situation. I am Chinese citizen living in Finland for 8 years. I will include my Finnish residence permit card.
    Below is the content of my IV package, could you please have a look and see if they are adequate?
    1. Barcoded cover sheet
    2. Cover letter
    3. Birth certificate of beneficiary, including English translation
    4. Copy of Marriage Certificate
    5. Copy of beneficiary’s passport biographic data page
    6. Copy of beneficiary's permanent residence permit in Finland, along with English translation
    7. Two photographs of beneficiary
    8. Copy of police certificate from Finland, issued in Finnish, Swedish and English
    9. Police certificate from Japan, original in sealed envelope
    10. Police certificate from China, including English translation
    Thank you!
    You're welcome!
    And yup, the list looks good to me. Make sure you review if there are any country-specific documents for Finland (as well as any Chinese docs as well since that's where you're from originally.
    Dear Saylin,
    Pardon me for one more question, for the translation accompanying my Finnish permanent residence card, does it need to be with original signature of the translator?
    Considering the new requirement that NVC accept photocopies of civil documents. I am not sure if this applies to translation as well.
    I ask because I have submitted the original translation during the I-130 stage, and what I have with me is a photocopy of the translation.
    Thank you again!
    I believe a copy would be fine (since originals are no longer needed at NVC).
    I would say you might need it at the interview, but since the interview will take place in Finland, a translation shouldn't be necessary, so the original Finnish permanent resident card should be sufficient (so make sure you bring that card with you to the interview).
  18. Dear Saylin,
    Your NVC wiki page has been of great help for me! Thank you!
    I have one specific question regarding one paragraph in your page:
    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process#Step_7_-_Gather_IV_Package
    "Please read the link here [23] for additional documents if applicable (such as petitioner documents in IR-5 cases or divorce/military records or proof of permanent residency, etc)."
    Maybe I missed something, but what do you mean exactly by "Proof of permanent residency"? Permanent residency of petitioner or beneficiary?(as I understand the IV package is all about beneficiary) Or in what kind of circumstances this document is required?
    Your input is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Hi, this is referring to the beneficiary when they're not living in their country of birth. For example, if someone was born in the UK but has been living in Canada for a decade, along with everything else needed in the IV package, they also need to send a copy of their Canadian permanent resident card, to show they're legally a resident of Canada.
  19. Hey all,
    Well our 30 days will be on Friday 22nd, so hopefully this week!
    When we have called we normally are on hold 1 hour absolute minimum!!!
    Is there a spreadsheet with time frames from CC until visa interview date being scheduled???
    Its great to know other people are going through the exact same process.... Hope you all are doing well
    Yes, there is. Check the first post for a link to the interview thread in which Dwheels has a spreadsheet for that stage of the process ;)
  20. Hay guys
    Ive just been looking at the next stage after NVC CC, not got it yet which is why im a little worried about getting a Check List.
    my question is referance Our Birth Certificate. I being a little naive thought there was only the birth certificate i have the short version having read this on the london embassy website.
    Birth Certificate: Obtain the original, or certified copy (provided by the issuing authority), of the birth record of each family member (yourself, your spouse, and all unmarried children under the age of 21, even if they are not immigrating with you. If the children are deceased, so state giving year of death). Note: We will not accept the short form version of a UK birth certificate. The certificate must list both parents' names.
    i obviously have only sent in a copy of the short version to the nvc. i appreciate i will need the full version for the interview but does anyone have any info on what they sent and if they recieved a check list for the short version.
    also will i require my wifes original birth cert for the interview?
    thank you in advance
    Unfortunately, you'll likely get a checklist for sending the short-form, as according to the reciprocity page for the UK, the long form is needed: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/UK.html#birth-1
    I suggest you get the long form pronto, so you have it ready if you do get a checklist for it. At the least, you'll need to present it at the interview.
    No, the petitioner's original birth certificate isn't needed at the interview. Nonetheless, I still highly recommend having a copy of it on hand, just in case.
