nab got a reaction from Nagishkaw in Which major religion is peaceful and incapable of violence?

All major religions are incapable of violence. Every one of them. The PEOPLE practicing the religion ARE capable of violence and it is inevitable that some of them are violent. The minute they do violence in the name of any religion they have just become an infidel of their stated beliefs.

ok i'm not going to flippant this time in case this is legit. these are all things you need to sit down WITH him, go over and DISCUSS. you are not his mother so do not nag, you are not his child so do not beg or whine for things... you are his WIFE and as such you need to treat him as a man in the home. you are equal but different. you are correct that nagging will hurt more than help. but to "back off" and ignore a situation is just as bad.
get a binder and notebook.... you need to get organized
#1 - make a honey-do list for the unfinished projects. obviously he knows these things need done, he worked on them. find out why the work stopped (lack of money? job was too large for one person? or too dangerous for unexperienced?) address the issue and go about fixing the problems holding up the projects (hire a professional or get a family member to come help or save the money to buy the materials).
for the jobs that CAN be completed... make a list, or put them on pieces of paper and put in a jar which he will select one at a time and work on that job till it is complete. or some other method that the two of you come up with that will work for you two.
do you also do home projects? or do you help him with them? (just curious)
#2 - as far as 'you make 10x what he made while working' perhaps he doesnt feel the need to work if you remind him of this. obviously money isnt an issue if for 5yrs he hasnt worked so perhaps he should look for a volunteer position to hone his skills (out of job market for 5yrs) and bring his resume/CV back up to date. it will get him out of the home in a good way (working, rather than going out at night to party) and bring his self-esteem up a little as well if he is feeling depressed.
with the economy the way it is, trying to send him out to find a job now (5yrs out of the job market) would be quite ruthless and is a recipe for disaster. if money is an issue, have you considered a home-based business of some type? are his skills marketable on the internet? try temp agencies who might be able to get him a temp job into a company who wouldn't normally give him a chance otehrwise. exhaust all options.
#3 - make goals. daily, week, month, year, and even 5yr.
what does he (and you) want to accomplish in these time periods
what does he (and you) need to do to meet these goals
#4 - begin treating each other like you are newlyweds again.
look for the good things in each other, not the faults.
do nice little things for each other EVERY day.
treat each other kindly

No one is suggesting you do any of those things. I suggested you try to discern whether your audience is capable of actually hearing you, and for you to decide whether it's worth your frustration to continually take part in this merry go round. But if you feel your time isn't worth enough to just waste it on what you call 'basher losers, knuckle dragging cretins' then by all means, go right ahead.
And I really do worry about your reading comprehension ability.
I did ask you what you were trying to achieve here, and since you've already explained that you're not trying to change opinion, then I would like to know what it is that you're trying to accomplish. Sounds like a reasonable question, and I would love an answer.

I don't know enough about the movement that you're talking about.
What I'm saying is that most Muslims are as afraid of terrorists as non-Muslims are. It's easy for a non-Muslim to denounce terrorism since we are already on the sh!t list. For a Muslim, on the other hand, they would be seen as a traitor to their faith (from the perspective of a terrorist).

I don't think that Catholics really have to fear the retaliation of pedophilic priests.

You know, instead of you trying to justify one evil with a another, like 'hey, Muslims are not as bad as Nazis' as you said in another thread...how bout just denouncing whichever participants in your religion bastardize it for you? I can proudly say I am a Catholic, yet those who invoke Catholicism to use it to their benefit in a way to hurt others...I wouldn't sit here and defend them. I'd say 'they're crazy, not true Catholics, this is not what my beliefs are about.' But instead, you come across like a sympathizer, and a justifier of these acts, putting them on some sliding scale as if to say 'hey, compared to such and such, they're not that bad' It's actually people like you who give your religion the worst name...my opinion is that those who feel Islam is a religion of violence do so because they see these heinous acts committed by fanatics, then 'normal' Muslims like you take the stance of 'hey, they're not as bad as Nazis'

Quakers serve as conscientious objectors in the military. Take that as an answer, or leave it. Your choice. Truth is how you perceive it to be. Nothing more, nothing less.

I guess you really didn't want an answer, so your query is more rhetorical, than inquisitive.

to clairfy my post... what i was trying to say (but guess i was not clear) was didnt want someone to assume from reading the car/plane post that if they cross by car or arrive by airplane and do not appear to be "sneaking" across a border do NOT assume they are legal; ASK the person.

nab got a reaction from Welshcookie in Different treatment of pets
just to clarfify... a crate (or as you refer - a 'cage') is not a place of punishment (or SHOULD NOT BE) nor a place to just lock an animal away for unattentive pet owners for hours on end. a well trained animal can be left alone in a home without fear of it tearing things up or eliminating. they should NEVER be scolded and put into a crate!!!!
a crate SHOULD BE a place of safety and relaxation for the pet, a place where it can go and KNOW that NO ONE (not children, not visitors, no one) is allowed to touch or bother them. that is THEIR SPOT. if you have an open wire one, it should be covered with a blanket/sheet with only the front open to provide them with a closed den-like feel.
the location of the crate... if the crate is kept in the bedroom, the dog is more likely to spend days beside, behind or under a piece of furniture closest to one of us... likewise if crate is kept in familyroom the dog would crawl under bed at night even though there is perfectly wonderful fluffy huge dog bed made up for them on other side of room. they want to be as close to their pack as possible, they want to be in a den-like environment with only one opening to guard as they rest/relax.
in my experience, but this may be different for others, my females seem to stick more closely to their crates whereas males seem to stick more closely to people themselves (i.e. the females will go to the crate if it's in same room while we go about our day whereas males will still choose to lay beside the people or stick to our heels). you almost forget they are there until something happens to make them come tearing out of the crate LOL like someone will get too near me or raise their arm a little too high near me and we realize oh! the dog thought you were going to strike me
love having security dogs... while they are not really 'protection' they are good alarms and their inbred instincts are just so very amazing.

who knew, with everything else that's going on in the world, that there's a sheikh at al azhar monitoring zabiha and non-zabiha meat prices in the us. were figures from san francisco, omaha, and orlando compared side by side to come to that conclusion i wonder? on average, we don't spend that much more than other people i know who don't eat zabiha. our free-range zabiha turkey this year cost pretty much the same as the free-range turkey my mom bought, lb for lb. and i can understand the overhead costs involved in a niche business like zabiha are going to be greater than yr average factory farm stocked safeway. i'm no mba, but i always thought dealing in lower volumes usually means greater expenses. and the costs involved are not always self-evident or understood by those on the consumer side of things. i've found nothing but fair, equitable pricing when it comes to buying meat, and i've been buying it for years. the only extra expense we really encounter is when we go to restaurants, where we usually order fish, and the fish we like is usually priced higher than meat entrees. but if we couldn't afford fish, then we'll get something vegetarian, or rethink our choice of going to this restaurant if we can't afford what we can eat there. especially when there's a really awesome vegetarian taco cart that's uber-cheap and just a short drive away.

nab reacted to REINITA♥REY in Condo we are renting got foreclosed!
This is not a real estate matter, this is a legal matter. It is NOT against the law to send a certified to the owner stating intentions and to deposit money into an escrow account instead of paying it to the owner. If the owner does try to claim an eviction, it will be 30 days until the court hearing is scheduled. At that time, the tenant can bring all the evidence of letter sent, foreclosure, proof of funds in the account, and state the concerns about security deposit (the security deposit by LAW should have beendeposited into an interest bearing account by the owner). The judge will then make a decision, and the decision will NOT be to give the owner all the rent money....it will be less the security deposit if he orders back rent to be paid.
-
nab reacted to spookyturtle in Condo we are renting got foreclosed!
I don't know what your state laws are regarding security deposits, but where I am only the landlord has access to the money, not the tenant. The landlord has it in an escrow account and the interest is reported on the tenants ss#, but the tenant has no access to the account. If that's the case where you are, your security deposit is probably gone. If you really want to be on the up and up, deposit your rent in an escrow account yourself so you can prove to the bank or whoever that you paid the rent in good faith until you were given further instructions. This protects you.
