I forgot to say that you should NOT buy him a ticket until you have the passport with visa in your hands and you have double and triple checked the spelling. Some people have had the unfortunate experience of having delays with the visa issuance, so don't make plans for him to leave until you are sure!

To answer your questions:
Our interview was a Wednesday and we picked up his passport with visa at the Santo Domingo DomEx office on Monday. I had arrived to the country on Tuesday (the day before the interview) and we left together on Friday (of the following week). It was nice to have that week to say adios to his whole pueblo.

I wanted to cancel tomorrow's wedding. Really, more like postpone it. Yet, he just told me that if we don't marry tomorrow he will not marry me at all. Lots of thinking to do...

Thank you for your kind words! By the way, I have learned how to cook yuca for my man... Only for him because I don't like it. I actually don't like Dominican food much. I do somewhat like mondongo and berenjena cooked with tomato. That's about it.

I need to wear double socks for my case of cold feet!

At the time you are faced with the fact that YES this person will be your partner for life, it can be a bit scary. I was there and believe me I was head over heels in love with my now husband hahaha. But don't be afraid of this new chapter in your life, it is an adventure and you will not be alone the love of your life is gonna be right there next to you.

Cause we Have put A LOT of effort into this process. Cuidate.

I am doing well. I am looking forward to finishing this semester's work to really begin to enjoy the nicer weather we are having. Today is my fiance's birthday! I love him so much...

We'll say "I do" in a couple of weeks...

You do know that the EAD stamp is worthless, right? K1 visa recipients cannot work until they receive their EAD after AOS is filed.

Once your petition packet leaves NVC and is shipped to the Embassy then the number you have to call often is the Visa Specialist at the Department of State.
You would be informed of an interview date once it is scheduled.

We received his state ID in the mail today. Unfortunately, the ID's expiration date is the same as his I-94's expiration date.

My fiance opened his bank accounts and we also went to the BMV to process his state ID.
