  1. ';INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Rigoberto Damain was just 6-years-old when he came to the United States, and has no memory of living or going to school in his native Mexico. But now the 28-year-old father of three American children is facing deportation from the only country he's ever known.

Damain was brought to the U.S. illegally as a child, but his immigration status was revealed during a traffic stop three years ago. On Friday, Damain picked up his final paperwork from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

"The order of departure that I basically have to leave the country," said Damain. "Well it's pretty tough, leaving 3 kids and a wife. I mean especially a newborn that's only 5-months-old."

An immigration judge ruled in a 15-page report that Damain should be allowed to stay in the U.S., but the Department of Homeland Security appealed the ruling and won, and Damain will board a bus for Mexico early Saturday morning. On Friday, he worked his final day at the grocery store he worked at for 70 hours a week. Even on his last day in the U.S., he says that he didn't want to burn any bridges.

"They wished me good luck," said Damain.

Immigration attorney Angela Williams says that Damain would have a long road to travel before he would be allowed to stay in the U.S.

"In order to become legal in the U.S. you have to have a petitioner," said Williams. "He's got a brother who's going to soon be a U.S. citizen, but the wait in that category is over 20 years."

Williams says that Damain's best hope for returning to the U.S. won't come until his 8-year-old daughter turns 21, when she can legally petition for her father to return home.

Damain says that he was in the process of buying a house. His American daughters have a hard time understanding why their father has to leave.

"I can't believe after being here 22 years, they're cutting my family in half," said Damain.

  2. Mavylyn and I met on MySpace almost 4 years ago. Just friends. To me at that time just a pretty philipina. The last year and a half I began to talk to her all the time. As I got closer to her I realized there is a 17 year age difference and I was getting to serious and with her feelings in mind and her future tried to end it. She was not happy and hurt. I deleted My entire MySpace account but forgot she was on my Messenger. 2 Days had passed and I sat miserably but knowing I did the right thing. Suddenly, a message come from Mav. I was so excited to hear from her. And it went from there.

Mavylyn is 32 and I'm 49. I met the family last August and have their Approval. I proposed to Mav January 30th 2010 and she is wearing my ring. (Well her ring) LOL

How do you feel and what do think the Philipphine Consulate will feel.

Mav and I talk EVERYDAY. Either Yahoo, web cam, phone.

Your imput is welcome. Oh, Mav don't know I wrote this yet. Our Account on VJ is Joint. OMG! She's going to kill me !

Thanks. Say it as it is please.

hi, i wouldnt worry about the age difference as long as you love each other visa or not you will be together, you are almost identical to myself and Nida in age, when we met and then got serious i knew nothing about visas or petitions, i worried at first when i read some peoples opinions of age difference, but we decided no matter what we will marry and be together, and it doesnt matter where! So good luck to all of us!!!

  3. Do the locals around Dallas still slam on the brakes when sliding on ice? I was in D-FW one winter and the locals scared me. lol.

We received about 16 inches of snow here in Il with up to 45 mph winds. There was 2 feet of snow blockung the front door. A 4-wheel drive SUV tried to drive down our rode but backed up.

It's a snow day for real!!

yes we still slam on our brakes!, hahaha, not me but i went to the srore today and it was like a demolition derby! Cars left on the road and in ditches, and superbowl right around the corner! its 18 degrees right now and i will walk to the store next time!

  4. I feel bad for both of them, they both lose. Its a shame. I know hitting is never a good thing but from what i heard corporal punishment is used alot in some countries and maybe she didnt think it would be a deal breaker hear in america. And honestly i am struggling to figure out a grown man running to family and friends over a slap from a woman, it seems like someone said earlier he was waiting for a good reason to end it.

  5. Greetings,

Inday and myself were recently engaged, have started the K1 process, have many questions, and have recently joined the forum. Currently are filling out I-129F. For now, are wondering (1) even though documents may not have to be notarized, would it be a good idea to do so and (2) for documents supporting evidence of meeting within last 2 years, are personal letters from others of help?

Thank you for answer to this question and any other advice any member may be able to provide.

    RK and Inday

    P.S. Inday's country is Philippines, I am U.S. citizen.

hello, it probably isnt needed for the petition, but it might be helpful for her to present letters later at her interview from her parents stating they met you, they like you, and they approve of the relationship, especially if she is young, it couldn't hurt, thats for sure, good luck!

  6. First i would like to say sorry about your situation, i am triple checking my past taxes now also to be sure i am ok, i have never been married but i did manage to make 3 children in my past. They are probably going by his income for 2009 which needs to be over $27,562 according to my information for 4 people, so i would be checking into that if i were you, and like another post says, try to submit 2010 tax results if you have time,it seems he filed too soon to use 2010 as a basis of his current income, i hope this helps and please someone correct me if i am wrong. again sorry and good luck to both of you.

  7. Fixed it for you!

The situation is pretty whacked. Allowing employees to speak one foreign language over another? It makes sense, though. The San Joaquin valley has a LONG history of discrimination against Filipinos. Carlos Bulosan, a Filipino author, vividly describes his experiences with racism and discrimination against Filipinos.

    Thanks for the news article.

    thanx for the fix !

  8. hello everyone, i hope all is well, i have a question and would like anyones opinion, especially someone who has done this, I want to send a laptop to bislig, well actually i wanted to bring it next visit, but i have been told lately that i am going to send it soon, (guess by who?) is it safe to do? will it make it to her? any opinions or suggestions are welcome, thanx everyone!

  9. Is this an example of christian charity and generosity of spirit? There's none so cold as the truly righteous.

    Psalm 23

    1. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments.

its not only sitting around singing kum ba ya.....
