  1. hello everyone, I also remember in the recent past hearing complaints about how much vacation time the president had taken also, in that case also, after fact checking, they found that president bush had taken twice the amount of vacations at the same point in his first term than obama has, i never heard of any complaints of bush's excessive vacations. Sometimes i wonder is it more than bad journalism? just my opinion, have a good day.

  2. hello everyone, i hope its ok if i put in my 2 cents, i think as long as marriage is a way out of a bad situation, people will abuse it . ask yourself what would you do to escape a situation that was really bad, i mean if you felt you were trapped, slowly starving, or oppressed in some way, or maybe to help your children? would you lie?, cheat?, steal?. I know these are not the only reasons people do it, alot of it is just selfish reasons. But until we can read minds this will continue to happen. Just my opinion.

  3. Hi everyone. I'm a newbie here in VJ. Me and my fiance have sent our application July of 2010. Never have we received a notification. Later have he thought that he wasn't able to include our pictures. He, then, re-filed and re-sent an application to TX on Oct 23, 2010. Till now, no NOA is being received. Question, was the decision of re-applicaiton ok? At the same time, if our application did have any error, we should have a letter telling us that we have to send other missing requirements, but we never did receive any. Plus, just to be sure sure sure, the requirements listed in http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide are all that we have to include in the packet, right?

Thank you in advance for any help.

hi, i am not an expert but we filed ours 3 weeks ago so i can say call this number- 1-800-375-5283, it customer service, on the site it says call this number if you dont here from them 30 days after sending your paperwork. i hope this helps a little, good luck.

  4. I just pulled up another may with more detail of Mindanao and see exactly where you will arrive and travel to. I would feel safe in any place of that area of Mindanao. As far as the long bus ride, I would feel a little unesay if I tarveled anywhere in the Phils myself that distance myself and I would ask my wife to send a few of her brothers to meet me at the Butuan bus station to travel with me. It appears as if there could be some rural areas for the buss to travel through. Maybe there is a closer bus airport than Butuan to cut the travel time shorter?

thanks alot for your advice, and i will clarifymy prior statements, i am going to bislig, mangagoy is the barangay within bislig i will be going to, and so far as i know butuan city has the nearest airport, so i will be landing there and getting on the bus there as well, and also no brothers there to meet me, Nida told me it is a 5 hour ride, so we spoke lately of another possible mode of transportation. I thank you for your help.

  5. first i am sorry to hear of your situation, its a terrible feeling to not feel your love is returned, but i think its time to just sit her down with one simple question, "do you love me?" if she says yes, you two have some work to do, if she says no then your work is over. i hope it works out for you, take care and just keep your cool, its easy to get carried away when love is on the line. just my opinion.

  6. Do some research and you will find out the areas the MILF are in and stay away from those areas.

I have traveled to Ozamiz City several times and always have felt safe but I did not go out walking the city streets alone at night either.

It would help to know where you are planning to get this bus from and where it is taking you in Mindanao. Bandits rob busses in remote places in the Philippines at times and being on a bus for 5 hours through remote areas does not sound like a risk I would want to take myself, especially traveling alone. What airport will you enter Mindanao at? What is the name of the barangay of your destination?

If you provide more information I am sure others familiar with that area of Mindanao could give you some sound advice. Good Luck.

i will land in butuan head to bus station and head towards mangagoy, bislig area, its the bus ride that bothers me, i can handle myself on foot and read peoples body language etc. but the bus will go where it will go... maybe i just worry too much.

  7. As with anywhere in the Philippines, there is a risk. I know a few folks who have ventured to Mindanao, and Davao, and they had no problems. My best advice if you go, would to be vigilant, and aware of your surroundings. The military side of me kicks in when I go to the Philippines. A little situational awareness goes a long long way. If you stick to the more populated areas, and keep a low profile, you should be fine. I always register with the Department of State when I travel to the Philippines. That way, they know where you are, and have a good contact number, should they get any intel that would require you to evacuate or something....Just my two centavos. In the end it's entirely up to you, but I do know quite a few people that visit Mindanao on a regular basis, and have had no problems at all.

thanks for the advice, can i also mention her parents live in a village there and i will have to take a 5 hour bus ride, (one way) to get there, it passes through sparsely populated areas, bad roads, etc., which makes me think maybe an excellant oppurtunity for anything that may happen to happen... so part of me says go for it and part of me says ambush, hahaha, what do you think?

  8. hello everyone, i hope all is well, i have another question i would like advice on, i wish to go to mindanao next trip but i see the travel warnings for the island, i had no trouble in cebu or manila, but i would like to get advice before going to mindanao. thanks in advance for any input.

  9. hehe yeah i stand out like a soar thumb, the entire time i was there i saw only one other black guy in the robinson. was funny cause we both looked at each other and shared a special understanding and just smiled and never said a word hehe

the exact same thing happened to me in manila and in cebu, being there and not seeing anyone like yourself for days or weeks is a new experience for me, when i saw another brotha, i mean black man, i felt relieved for some reason, so i got a taste of what we expect others to do for us, thanks for sharing that story because i could relate to it.

  10. Whoah! :o I wouldn't send that kind of money to ANYONE in my family, without knowing where it is going or being used for, for one.

Pardon me for asking, but why are you sending her that much money without any explanation or reason behind it? IMO, that's not only red flag for you to be aware of, but a red flag to the Consulate during the interview process, because he's going to probably ask her what you should be asking - what is all the money being used for?

the money was sent over time, a few hundred a month, i know she doesn't have a job so i send it for everyday living expenses. No i dont ask for an itemized account for the money, but i am sure she is putting it to good use, thanks for the concern but i think everything is fine.

  11. Hello everyone! thanks for the advice, and let me clarify, the money is not the problem or the source of my fears, it was the loss of trust the guy must have felt when he sees someone he totally trusts attempting to send money behind his back, i have sent thousands to my fiancee and never asked what she use it for, and i have xoom records which i sent in as evidence to prove it. So basically i just had a concern since she never brought it up to me. I am willing to do what is necessary to have a happy healthy relationship, she is an equal partner in this and i do feel whats mine is hers too. I encourage her to tell me all her hopes, dreams , and expectations, because i am here to help make them all come true, it is a true love we have no matter where she is from and i know our love will last a lifetime! thanks again, and keep it coming, there is no such thing as learning too much.

  12. thanks everyone for your input!, yes, she knows how much i make, i have shown pay stubs, etc. so i am the one who should bring up the topic of supporting her family if/when needed? ok, i will, its good to have a place like this where a person can get advice and help from a reliable source, thanks to everyone!

  13. hello everyone, i hope all is well, after reading a very interesting recent post i have to say i am as nervous as a long tailed cat in a rocking chair factory!!! I am totally in love with my nida and i want to be the best i can be for her, so when i heard talk of supporting the family left behind i see i needto learn more. here it seems a woman can be called a gold digger for similar actions dealing with money like i recently read. my fiancee has mentioned nothing of the subject of supporting her family once she arrives, is this a given? without even having a need to discuss it? do others study american traditions and prepare for them? my fiancee is a sensitive woman and i must be careful how i address this subject to her, so any tips or advice will be welcome! god bless everyone!
