Hey guys, i'm finally POEing tomorrow, so i just wanted to make sure of something. I will be entering at the peace bridge in Buffalo, NY, and when we pull up to the customs officer, do i just tell him right away that i'm activating my K1 Visa, and if so do i hand him the sealed envelope or wait until i'm in secondary to give it there? Also do i need to take my xrays out of the car and give it to them aswell? Thanks
Good luck on your POE tomorrow. I will be POE'ing at the Peace Bridge on the 29th. Can't wait to hear your review!

They finally just issued my visa on Fri. Oct 8th. Still haven't gotten it in my hand yet. 16 more days until POE!

Its so nice to join the group finally looking at places to stay in Montreal! To all with upcoming interviews all the best!
How about the places to eat? Has anyone looked at the Bed and Breakfasts yet?
Eggspectations is super yummy! They are at the Hyatt Regency. We ate there 3x! Ruebens on Rue de Saint Catherine is pretty awesome too.

My interview was Sept. 24th & I still haven't received my visa yet. They just issued it late Fri. (10 business days)
-
Good luck to all who have interviews this week! You will all do great!
-
From what you are saying, it sounds like there is a wait time between "approved at interview" and "visa issued". How do you know when it was issued? Do they email you to let you know that it's been issued and has been mailed?
I wonder why it took 2 weeks for it to be issued for you. Did they explain anything to you after the interview about this?
P.S. ...Still curious to hear from others as well! I want to know if this is common, and in general how consistent the timing is for those who are approved at their interviews.
Jeremy
When we were approved the CO told us we should receive it by the end of the week. When we didn't, I called DOS everyday. My fiance got his congresswoman on it & then all of a sudden it was issued. There is no consistency. Some couples who interviewed the samed day as us, got theirs within a couple of days. So your wait will be from a couple of days to a couple of weeks.
Good luck!

I suspect this has already been answered somewhere. When you get approved at your visa interview, how many days later can you expect to receive the visa in the mail? For those of you who have been through it already, I'd appreciate if you could share the exact timing of when you received the visa.
We are planning our flights and we want to assume the best case and book a flight to the USA that will get us there as soon as possible after we get the visa. We'd rather risk having to reschedule the flight if we are rejected than pay a much higher price for a ticket on short notice.
Is 2 weeks after the visa interview date too early to book our flight? Has anyone ever had it take longer than 2 weeks to get the visa in the mail?? Or could we go even shorter than that?
Jeremy
I had my interview Sept. 24th & still haven't received my visa. It was just issued on Oct. 8th. Should receive it some time this week.

Now the stress of Canada Post! LOL!
Thanx everyone! And Happy Thanksgiving! I'm spending it with my man. Think we will go do the Halloween Haunt at Canada's Wonderland tonight & turkey tomorrow!

LMFAO...still funny!
Afternoon phone call...I got the hanger upper again. But........visa has been issued!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
This mornings phone call...I spoke to the nicest lady ever (Sara) She said it has been sent to the NIV unit & my visa should be sent any day now.
Well that's all fine & dandy but is it true?
Scott will make his phone call late this afternoon & we haven't heard anything from the congresswoman yet.
-
wait a bit and call back, get someone more helpful..
damn i really feel for you
you of all people would understand as this just happened to you. thank you for just being there & offering a kind word.
-
I just called DOS again & she hung up on me!!!!!!! All I asked was what the standard wait time was. UGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

orfee got a call from the consulate yesterday, asking if he had ever received his visa. he said yes, with the help of my fiance's senator liaison. the CO said, we just wanted to make sure because we've received a lot of annoying emails. that made me a bit angry because that means they are receiving and reading these emails and choosing to ignore them. i told orfee he should have said, if you'd be humane and answer folks - you wouldn't get a ton of 'annoying' emails!
montreal needs a major overhaul - seems their current staff have become entirely apathetic and justified in their less than helpful attitudes.
WOW! When I thought they couldn't stoop any lower...they do. They have us by the ballz & they know it!
-
Well, Scott's congressman is now working on it. I just don't know what to think anymore.
-
has your fiance emailed the consulate as well? i used multiple email addresses and orfee sent a couple from his as well. they only ever responded to one of our emails..
No, I don't think he has. But he has someone looking into it already.
But good idea! I will use my other 2 email addresses.

They never gave me any indication at the interview that we were missing anything or them wanting anything more. I asked this morning if they wanted anything more & she said no, this is normal.
-
I was told in this mornings phone call that everyone is in AP until the visa is issued AND that no one is approved until the visa is actually issued!!!!!!!! (insert every swear word known to man here)
-
geeze Les, that's stupid. i mean, if the broad that answered the phone the first time didn't know ####### she was talking about, she shouldn't have said anything. why say stupid things to others when it's likely not the case. i mean you were told by the consulate that you were approved. so ####### is taking so long. i hope i don't have to wait that long for mine afterwards. i'm hoping to poe the day after you. i've been back in toronto long enough and i'm reaaaaaaallly beginning to regret coming back. love my parents but omg, i haven't lived with them since i was 18 and at 32....it's NOT ideal.
ps. medical went fine except my doctor forgot to include the print out of my rubella teeter test. so i'm waiting on my doc to fax that over to Seidens office.
Good news on your medical! One more hurdle jumped over.
I don't trust a word DOS says except for issued or not issued. This morning they tell me they are just about to issue it & this afternoon they said we are in AP. I don't know how they can put me in AP when I was approved!!!! Ughhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
-
Scott has contacted anyone & everyone in the government sector. So hopefully we can get some answers. My morning phone call to DOS said they were about to issue it, Scott's afternoon call to DOS said that we are in AP. Like really??? They can put us in AP after the actual approval??? They didn't have 1 single issue with us at the interview. No one said that we need more info or evidence. This is getting more rediculous by the day.
-
what state is your fiance in - if you don't mind my asking..
if i were you i'd get a call in at the senate level - the liaison can speak to an actual person in mtl. my senator's liaison got back to me in a day - and i know how stressed you must feel right now!
i'm almost positive that the scenario in our 'situation' was that we just got left in a pile on someone's desk and it took some prodding to get a move on it..i could be wrong - but every time i called dos they told me it hadn't yet been issued..
He's in NY state. He's waiting until the end of today, just in case they decide to issue it today.
I called DOS again this morning & she said "oh yes, they are about to issue it" HUH????? When I told her everyone else on our interview day got theirs, she said that they were backed up & sees no reason why I wouldn't be getting it. Ughhhh!
-
The trouble isn't with Canada Post. It is with MTL. They haven't even issued it yet. What can possibly be the hold up? DOS said yesterday an approval doesn't guarantee anything. #######???

Hey Leslie. Hows things going with the house and preparing to leave
Exciting right?
Well Ive been searching to find the smaller size and shape rhinestone you was talking about. This is the smallest Ive found. Is this any good at all?
Congrats on the NOA 2 Paul and Vanessa....unbelievable that it has taken so long
Pleased you have it now though and I wish you a speed next step in the process....good luck for the interview
Thanx UK. That is the perfect shape, but not size
I would like them to be smaller. I appreciate you looking all over for me.
Wish I could be excited about getting ready to leave, but since my visa hasn't been issued, I am really stressed. If they don't hurry up, I'm going to be jobless & homeless.
