  1. My son ages out during this process as well. My heart breaks over & over knowing I have to leave him behind. But the immigration lawyer said to me that if the shoe was on the other foot he wouldn't think twice about leaving me behind... :crying:

I am not a fan of this aging out thing. If we add our children on at the beginning of this process, & they age out, they should still be able to join us in the US.

  2. I am a bit confused (doesn't take much, LOL) I was looking up what is needed for packet 3 so I can start that process while I'm waiting for my NOA2. I saw on the list that I would need a copy of my adoption decree. I was adopted at 6 weeks old, but my current name is the name on my birth certificate. First question...will the names of my birth parents or adopted parents be on my long form birth certificate? Second question...do I still need to get my adoption decree since my current name is the name on my birth certificate?

  3. Any thoughts anyone?

I was adopted at the age of 6 weeks. Do I request the name I was born with or the name I was given when I was adopted? My current birth certificate has my adopted/present name. But as I was reading the form online it wants to know mother's & father's names. Do I put my birth parents names or my adopted parents names?

  4. While I am looking forward to giving Rogers the big "kiss my a$$", & can't wait to not pay this wonderful HST that comes into effect on July 1st, after missing my family & friends the biggest thing I will miss is my Smirnoff Ice. We in Canada sell it with vodka in it as it should with the name Smirnoff, the Americans sell it as a malt beverage! Ughhhhh!!!!! I will have to pack cases & cases of it when I move. Hahaha! That's my rant for today... Anyways, there are tons of advantages & disadvantages for living in each country but that is what makes each country unique. We will all have to work, have a place to live with our new spouses, groceries to buy, new friends to make & new gripes about our new country...it's just life.
