  1. Well, here it is Feb. again! And look how far we have gone since this time last year!!!

I have been sooooo busy staring into the abyss of nothing. I am waiting & waiting for spring to come. I am tired of being unemployed & sitting at home. I am though taking a couple of night classes to give me something to do, but it's hard to do them when they keep getting cancelled from the bad weather! UGH!

I should be getting my AP & EAP in a couple of weeks. That will be nice because then I can start collecting unemployment from Canada. So, I think I will ride that for a bit...LOL!

Just 2 more months & we have the Kid Rock Cruise! Can't wait. New Orleans to Cozumel! It will be a huge sloshfest!

Poacher, that is great you 2 are getting a trip to the USVI! I love it down there! Which island are you going to?

Lohninck & UK, great to hear all is going well!

Bri...just send in a photocopy of the vaccination worksheet as long as you are all up to date with your shots. No medical needed again.

Vanessa, hang in there! 1 more month!!!!

Hope all is well with everyone & stay warm. This winter is having a hard time letting go!

  2. When exactly do T4's come out this year? I have all of our US tax documents to file our taxes, but I am waiting on his T4 so that I can put in his foreign income. He keeps telling me they aren't out yet.

Are they out? And if not, when do they come out?

    Thanks!

    J-

By law they have to be out by Feb 28th. A lot of companies wait until the last payday in Feb. & include it with the paystub. Some companies are very good & get it out at the beginning of Feb. I'm still waiting for mine!

  3. Woohoo my EI is finally going to start coming in! Still no luck on finding any kind of job. I did see some entry level postings at Pepsico but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I might just apply anyways though because it's better than selling jeans to kids. I have until the end of March, then my EI is up.

So you only get EI for 2 months? What's with that? Good luck on the job hunt! I am soooo dreading that!

  4. Once I had my EAD and things got started, I seldom filled out cards (if at all if I remember correctly) - the cards always arrived late anyway - EI would update my details when I called , not sure if they still accept people calling.

Now that is the best news I've heard all day! Thank you!

  5. I filed when I left at the end of Oct. I get my cards, but no cheques. They sent me a letter saying as soon as I get my EAD, fax them a copy of it & then I should be getting payments.

I just think it's so unfair we cannot file out the cards online. The mail takes forever, or I should say Canada Post takes forever.

  6. Heya, this thread might help your concerns: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/285738-quick-question/ No set timeline as long as you're married before the 90 days. Just as long as you don't try to cross the border, you're good!

I'm back from the dead, everyone. I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas. I've been working my #### off with UPS delivering packages the past month, but I'll hopefully be working in a hospital (a lot warmer of an environment) soon. I've missed your perverted ways, poacher, and reading everyone's news updates, but I see everyone's been as quiet as I have.

Happy New Years, Feb crew! It's almost been a full year since we started this mess! We shall overcome!

Happy New Year to you as well!!!!!!!!

  7. QUESTIONS:

1.Payment(s) as required by USCIS. Be sure to include the payment for both the I-485 and the biometrics fee*. Use a personal check so you can track the payment. Money Orders are also accepted.

    - When sending a money order do we simply put USCIS or their official full name?

    - And I believe the new fee for the packet is $1,070

Make it out to U.S Department of Homeland Security. They are very picky as to how you write it. Just as I wrote it for you is how it's done.

The new fee is 1070, which includes the biometrics fee

5.K-1 Visa Holders: Submit Copy of NOA2 "Approval" for I-129F **

    - Is this the letter we received from NVC stating that our packet has been sent to the appropriate visa issuing location.

It is printed on plain white paper, addressed to Joe (the petitioner) that has my EAC# and MTL# on it from the Bureau of Consular Affairs?

No. It is the I 797C that Joe would of gotten in the mail. Looks like your NOA1.

6.Copy of the non US Citizen Spouses valid I-94 (front and back copies)

    - What exactly is the i-94? Is that the acceptance paper we got from the final interviewer after receiving the verbal "Congrats" that tells us about the frequently asked questions after receiving the K1 visa?

No, they stapled that in your passport the day you POE'd at the border. It is a small white card. It has an expiry day on it as well.

11.I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. If you are a K-1, K-2, K-3 or K-4 visa holder the I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination.

    - Does this mean because I've already had a medical, I can simply submit a copy of my medical receipt indicating the date of my physical?

If you passed then all you need is the vaccination chart that the Dr. gave you when you were finished your medical. But just send a copy, not your original.

We're trying to fill out the packet and submit it for the first week of January as my visa expires on Feb 5. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

  8. Hi you guys, hopefully everything good for everyone, i was thinking to do a walk-in but after reading some experience of the same bio i am assigned i prefer to go on the date they said, not risking going and being sent back home. Looks Elizabeth is not that easy, lol.

But anyway, just saying hi, and missing some of the guys from Feb '10 K1 fillers :)

Miss you too Solmarc! It's just not the same without Poacher.

I got my biometrics appt letter yesterday. I go Jan 3!!!!

  9. Oh my god, you do almond crescents? Is it basically those butter and sugar cookies that you mix up with chopped almonds? I do the same thing, except with cashews. I've never met anyone else who has ever done them. They have got to be the yummiest cookie ever!

    J-

I make a German version of those. When they are taken out of the oven I toss them in a vanilla sugar & icing sugar mixture. Soooo yummy! We call the Kipfurl.

  10. I know! I was so depressed when I was assembling the package... Isn't it enough that I moved here, from a wealthy country -with affordable healthcare!- away from my family and friends? I know it's worth it, don't get me wrong, I just wished it was a little bit different... And then, we might have to go through another interview? I mean, c'mon!!!

Hey, but I'm not complaining! :innocent:

You said it! I feel the same way. Bittersweet, eh?

  11. Wow, what a load of bs, seriously. I can't believe they'd get that technical and b*tchy about it. I'm reeeeeeeally looking forward to doing this now. :bonk:

Apart from this hell hole, how's the actual adjusting going, girl? Still really missing your son? :( I had no idea you had a 21 year old son, you look about 25 in your pictures!

Hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving. Peter really loved it, had everything on the table, and we went out Black Friday shopping this morning at Target. All my Christmas shopping is done, wrapped, and waiting for December 25th. The countdown begins.

Congrats on finishing your Xmas shopping! I get to ignore Xmas this year since the wedding is Dec. 11th & we won't get home from Hawaii until the 16th. I hate Xmas, so all is good!

Yup, still missing my baby. Every time I think about him my heart just breaks. Settling in alright. Had a very good first American Thanksgiving. Got to celebrate 2 this year. The Canadian Thanksgiving was in Oct.

Yeah, USICS is a thorn in my side already. Don't know who is worse now, the Montreal Consulate or USICS.

  12. So, already I am being screwed over during this AOS process. I sent it in Nov 16th & they received it the next day. Today I get the package returned to me saying "rejected" They, of course weren't specific, just saying that a form is outdated. We downloaded the forms from their own site & filled them in that day & mailed them the next. So, of course we have to call to find out exactly what they didn't like. The I-485 form was the culprit. Apparently, they accept forms by the revised date in the bottom right hand corner of the forms. So, the date being accepted for the I-485 has a date of Nov 23rd. My rejection letter is dated Nov 19th. Someone explain to me why they are rejecting my app 4 days before the new version even is put on the site????? :bonk:

So, everyone who hasn't filed AOS...make sure you check the revision dates on your forms. The USCIS site tells you the acceptable revision dates.

    What a scam.

  13. While I was expecting my texts & emails this week, but what do I get instead??? My AOS package sent back stating "rejected" Like I have not been through enough already with the over the top slowness of Montreal. Now I'm being rejected????

So, they don't specify exactly what was wrong, but only a form is outdated. We downloaded all the forms from their own site, filled them that day & mailed them the next. After a phone call to find out exactly what it was, it was apparently the I-485. They stated on the phone that they only go by the revised date on the bottom right hand corner of the forms. They wrote my rejection letter on Nov. 19th saying it was outdated. It didn't become outdated until Nov. 23rd! That is the date now in the corner. UGH!!!!!

How are we supposed to know that???? They had it in their hands on Nov. 17th????????? I feel like they did that on purpose so they could get their new fee. Now we have to send in the new fee as the last one was still under the old fee.
