Quick question. My wife (God-willing) will receive her CR-1 probably late July/Early August. We're planning on coming back to the states, moving into our new house, etc. She has a family affair in late Sept in England, and this will likely occur -before- she gets her production Green Card. I've read some horror stories of people trying to travel outside the country after POE but before getting their green card, can anyone provide some insight?
I know that technically it is legal and allowed and shouldn't be an issue, but I want to avoid any chance of her running into serious issues on return. She'd only be gone about a week or so. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks,
-Jim
hi jim brown i have simple and easy answer of your question when you recieved your online visa immigrant IV fee bill and affit daffit (AOS) of support fee bill DO NOT PAY because you have one year time to pay and clear all of visa immigration fees bill and AOS fee bill wait untill your wife family affair is not over when you and your wife attend family affair and then after september you pay all your immigrant visa fee and AOS fee BILL and after that send your all original and civil supporting doc with immigrant visa application ds-230 and i-864 aos send all doc to NVC and your case start again at the end of the hold position again

hi saima your status show that your husband apply for F1 visa i think your husband is student and your husband is apply for F1 visa basically F1 visa is non immigrant visa Most Important Remember: first of all your husband case is in AP and the secound things is That F-1 visa is a "Non-Immigrant Visa"! and your husband case is in back ground check which mean they gather imformation about your husband intend to immigrate usa for perment basic or not untill they not satisfy that your husband is not intent to immigrate usa they cannot issue your husband visa This is the most important point we can make. If the USA embassy thinks for any reason that your husband plan to immigrate to the USA, they will probably deny your visa. Second, remember that your husband cannot legally work in the USA with an F-1 visa! (There are exceptions, see Can I work in the USA?) So the result is: Do not give the embassy any reason to think you will immgrate to the USA; and, do not tell them that you plan to work in the USA.
But my university has offered me job!
That is OK, and you can count the income from that job in you financial resources (section 8b on your I-20). You can work up to 20 hours a week for your school, but you can only count that income on your I-20 if the school has offered you a job, and the school must put that income on the I-20. If there is nothing listed on the I-20, you cannot count it. iam able to tell you about your case because i saw your F1 visa status in your profile and please update your time line and tell me you apply for your husband for F2 VISA OR your husband apply for his own F1 VISA for him self
HI saima i forget about that you say in your above post that you are a usa citizen as i mention in my above post this visa is a non immigrant visa and these type of visa have a limited annual visa quota which is 23,400 this visa quota is distribute all over the world in equal quantity that why these type of visa have no Adminstrative process time limit these type of case have availablity visa wating game when available embassy issue visa if visa is not available in embassy you have to wait for visa that why these type of AP have no time limit and no one no when visa available and even embassy dont know when available

I made an error while completing my husband's I-130 petition. On question about whether the beneficiary is in a removal proceeding I checked "no" instead of checking "yes". How do I make that correction on an already approved I-130?
I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Sarah.
hi saarahkhann there is no need to be panic if you realized later that you made a mistake after the approval of i-130 if you have a photo copy of your approval i-130 then you can use a fluid pen to correct your mistake in your photo copy i-130 use a fluid pen in your photo copy i-130 correct your mistake then write your correct detail in your photo copy i-130 and then write a complete explanation letter with your i-130 question number to NVC about your mistake to NVC if you sure about your approval i-130 that uscis send your approval i-130 to NVC then you send to NVC other wise if you are not sure about your approval i-130 that uscis not send your i-130 to NVC SO in that case you send your correction i-130 photo copy to uscis

Been coming here throughout our journey but never made a profile. Now there's good news so here we are! Finally NVC case "complete" as of yesteday. Spoke with NVC today and they said "due to heavy volume..blah blah.. [no interview in May]...blah" upon further inquiry, "Interviews are scheduled the 2nd week of every month" and finally, "unfortunately we cannot predict how long it will take"
Now I'm euphoric so I have that ever-annoying question: What does that mean?!? How long can we expect to wait for interview scheduling?
(See timeline so far)
hi Irrelevant i think and in my guess is your interview schedule date is june 27 2011 to between july 1 2011 but most probally june 30 2011 in my personal guess interview is not a problem the only important thing is interview preparation before the interview the only thing you can do is before the interview is collect all evidence and proof for example marriage invitation card valima invitation marriage cd or dvd marriage photo jewellery reciept (marriage and valima dinner making shop booking order reciept both side)and before marriage engagement photo or dvd or cd shoping reciept skypee call list land line call list chat email credit card statement westeren union money transfer reciept post card birthday card letters air plane travel ticket railway ticket ext ext so beprepared and get ready for your final interview

Took the NVC packages, AOS and DS230 to the post office and overnighted with certified delivery/tracking etc....
Hoping for the best...went over the papers 5 or 6 times for signatures, originals, copies of each original etc...all supporting documents so here's hoping they find everything they need and dont ask for RFE sooo crossing my fingers....and maybe we can be out of NVc by the end of April and onto an interview after that...
Not sure how long it takes to obtain an interview for Islamabad after NVC processes and sends but hopefully we will find out soon!
[/quoted
salam eabbas i think and my guess is your interview schedule date is july 22 2011 to july 25 2011 to july 29 2011 inshallaha so get ready and beprepared for your final interviewl and please pray for me because i also send my DS-230 FORM to NVC DATED april 19 2011 so its mean your sending date and my sending date is only 1 day difference so its mean your interview and my interview schedule date near near same in my guess or may be we both give interview same day so let hope for best inshallaha

Hi,
I am an old user of visajourney i never visited the section of citizenship because i was stuck with visa issues and administrative processings on this website thats why i only used to go in threads for those people that were in AP but thanks God i received visa and green card for 10 years now i am in USA and been here almost a year .
I enterd USA May-18-2010 and next month it will be my first anniversary in USA. I have a 10 years green card.
I want to know when i will be eligible for united states citizen. I am still married with my beloved wifey and i dont have plans to go back to Pakistan for next 4 to 5 years.
Answers will be appreciated.
salam wellmux Time frame to become a US Citizen:
Normally it takes approximately 6 month from the date the application is filed.
However, according to the news released by US Citizenship and Immigrant Service (USCIS) on 1/16/2008, due to the significant increase in the number of applications filed, processing times have been affected. As a result, average processing times for certain application types filed after June 1, 2007, may become longer. Citizenship applications may take approximately 16-18 months to process.
Following are general 8 steps to become an US Citizen:
- Step 1: Find out if you are eligible
- Step 2: Complete an application and collect the necessary documents
- Step 3: Get Photographed
- Step 4: Send your application, documents, and fee to the Service Center
- Step 5: Get Fingerprinted
- Step 6: Being Interviewed
- Step 7: Receive a decision
- Step 8: Take the oath and become a citizen
Step 1: Find out if you are eligible, here are requirements for becoming an US Citizen:
-
Prove a period of continuous residence and physical presence in the United States; residence in a particular USCIS District prior to filing.
- If you are at least 18 years old and have been a Permanent Resident for the past 5 years without leaving the United States for trips of 6 months or longer.
- If you are at least 18 years old and are currently married to and living with a U.S. citizen; and have been married to and living with that same U.S. citizen for the past 3 years without leaving the United States for trips of 6 months or longer, and your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the past 3 years.
[*]Able to read, write, and speak English and have good knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government.
USCIS officers will test you up to 10 civics questions in English and you need to answer at least 6 questions correctly to pass the test.
Passing the Citizenship test is NOT difficult if you know what you will be tested on and memorize everything. The biggest challenge to passing is learning the right material in the least amount of time.

Same here!!
I got an email from the NVC that my interview date is scheduled on april 6.
thats the only thing that i have now.
i think its called P4 letter thats what i read on the top.
Do i have to print this email to have my medical exam or do i still have to wait to get anything from the embassy of my country?
whats the next ? after my interview date is scheduled?
thank you guys
hi kdrjn if NVC inform you via email about interview appointment this is the early part of the packet 4 stage. (NVC) only inform you about your interview appointment with us embassy consular officer via email NVC cannot give you complete details about your medical exam via email you have to wait for your packet 4 by postal mail when you recieved your packet 4 by postal air mail then you know about complete details about your medical exam and authorised medical center and yes you can take printout your email interview appoint letter in case if you lost stolen or burn your original interview appointment letter then you can use this email printout appointment letter copy in the US embassy for emergency basis usa embassy allow you and give you entry in the us embassy so you can use this copy for emergency purpose
-
i thought Packet 4 will also be sent by NVC once the case is completed at NVC to the designated agent that was chosen using form DS-3032? For example if the foreign spouse has designated the USC spouse as agent I was assuming all the mail will be received from NVC to the agent in the US including Packet 4, Interview letter etc?
Confused now.
Based on timeline data, your I130 may be adjudicated between July 17, 2011 and August 21, 2011*.
hi raj1975 i think you are confuse about the packet 4 i think i can tell you begning to end process when petationer i-130 finally approve in USCIS then USCIS issue petationer noa2 which is notice of action 2 this is the first step of whole immigration process then uscis send petationer to email notification that uscis approve petationer cr1 or ir1 petation and then uscis closed petationer file in uscis and then send petationer file to NVC and when NVC recieved petationer file then NVC send petationer to DS-3032 CHOICE OF AGENT ADDRESS FORM and affidavit fee and immigrant IV visa fee bill online and NVC case no and invoice idenitification pass word no online these all document NVC send both petationer and beneficinary by postal mail and by email when beneficinary select his choice of agent for exmaple if op sel;ect wife or husband then who ever he or she select and then op send DS-3032 FORM to NVC AND THEN after few days or week NVC ENTER DS-3032 in their immigration data base then petationer go on line and login in their payment portal accoun tand pay affidavit fee and immigrant IV visa fee online and after payment 3 days petationer take print bar code cover sheet on line which is available online after that petationer go immigration govt web site and download affidavit of support form and DS-230 on his computer take printout fill the whole form and send to nvc with all civil original document and then after few week or month NVC COMPLETE THE CASE and send all origianal document to beneficinary home usa embassy for further process and then after few month or week petationer and benificinary recieved packet 4 interview appointment letter and medical exam and also include in this packet DS-230 PART 1 AND PART 2 but op ignore DS-230 BECAUSE OP ALREADY FILL ONLINE hope you understand whole process

Thanks for your help.
I have some questions regarding the DS-230 forms.
The petitioner has received a package from NVC and it has the DS-230 form, is he supposed to send the same form to the beneficiary or can the beneficiary go online and fill out a DS-230?
ANSWER YES petationer and beneficiary both recieved same DS-230 FORM instruction package from NVC but dont wait for instruction DS-230 packet go online and fill out a DS-230 form and send to NVC with all beneficiary original civil document and all original document return after benieficiary interview
Then will the beneficiary prepare two DS-230 forms for her and her son?
answer YES beneficiary prepare 2 DS-230 form for her and her son
Will the petitioner pay for the two DS-230's as in for the wife and son? Total of 808 dollars.
answer YES petationer pay 2 IV immigrant visa fee online for his wife and son
Do they need to send the original documents to NVC or even certified copies will work.
answer no original certified copies will not work beneficiary need to send all civil original document to NVC
Then when does one pay the DS-230 fee? I know its done online but after how long can one pay so that you are able to print the bar code cover sheet?
ANSWER when petationer pay affidavit of support $88 fee online and IV VISA IMMIGRANT fee online after 3 days bar code cover sheet available online and petationer got and able to take print out bar code cover sheet online
What documents will the beneficiary need to send for her Son to NVC?
Thanks for your answers. Wish you well with your journey.

Can anyone tell me what is usually requested in the packet 3 for the London embassy. I have heard of people sending ds-230 and marriage and birth certificates etc but I have already sent all of this to the NVC which will hopefully this week be sending it all to the embassy in London. I do have extra copies of all these things but is this actually what is required for packet 3? A repeat of the previous step?
hi andy H basically packet 3 is belong to K-1 VISA which is nonimmigrant visa K-1 visa is fiancee visa no you dont recieved packet 3 packet 3 is only for K1 fiancee persons and packet 4 belong to CR1 AND IR1 VISA CR1 IR1 is immigration visa yes you only recieved packet 4 by postal mail but you dont wait for packet 4 because in most of the world postal mail service is a slowest process that why usa immigration allow every part of the world persons who apply for usa immigration to download any kind of immigration or non immigration form to usa govt immigration web site in his computer to take print out fill the form and send to uscis or NVC but yes you wait packet 4 is only for appointment interview letter and medical exam and one more think i add here when NVC complete your case in NVC and then NVC closed your case and send your case to benificinary home usa embassy and then you recieved your cr1 or ir1 interview appoint letter notification by email and then after few week or month you recieved packet 4 in this packet also include DS-230 part 1 and part 2 FORM but you ignore this form because you already send your DS-230 to NVC
-
Still not working for me today, very frustrating. Ive sent the ds3032 via email on friday, missed two days now of processing and payment. Anyone else able to login ?
hi ntwodice please wait for 7 to 15 days after that NVC enter your DS3032 in their data base when NVC enter your ds-3032 or DS-261 in their immigration data base you are able to pay your IV visa fee and afidavit fee and you easily login in payment portal
-
will I receive packet 3 n 4 through email?????????
hi mrkhan and one more think i add here yes you recieved your cr1 or ir1 interview appoint letter notification by email and then after few week or month you recieved packet 4
-

Same problem here, just received aos and ds3032 email aswell.
hi twodice Suggestions ABOUT DS-3032 FORM
* Once the USC receives the AOS (I-864) Bill and the copy of the DS-3032 one can save time by emailing or faxing a copy of the DS-3032 Choice of Agent form to the beneficiary overseas who then selects the agent, signs the form and returns it to the address on the form. Doesn't save much but it saves the mailing time from NVC to the spouse.
* Have the beneficiary (now the applicant) fill out the DS-230 and send it to the USC if they are to be the agent....this can be done at any time before the DS-230 is generated at NVC. Once it is generated it will be sent to the agent, the signed copy with the cover sheet (that the agent will receive) which has the barcode can then be mailed to NVC.
* Have the beneficiary (now the applicant) forward any documents, photocopies etc that may be required to be submitted with the DS-230 to you ahead of time. Check out the Department of State website HERE
Scroll down and select the Instructions for Visa Immigrant Applicant appropriate for the country of your spouse. Forms are also available there for you to download but please check to see if they are the latest version.
* Complete the I-864 which is also available in the above link for download. When NVC generates this form it comes to you with a barcode cover sheet which you will then need to return along with your completedI-864 form.
IMPORTANT
Familiarise yourself with the for an Immigrant Visa so you know the order in which forms will be generated and what is sent to the USC (petitioner) and your spouse (beneficiary/applicant) to be completed.
NVC Automated Voice Response Service
So your I-130 petition has been approved and forwarded to NVC
Now you are wanting to know if it has been received and a case number assigned
You can use your CIS (NOA) receipt number from your approval to find out.
On calling the NVC automated voice response number (603) 334-0700 you will....
press 2 for Non Haiti Immigrant Visa
press 1 for English or press 2 for Spanish
(If you wish to speak to someone directly, press 5)
If not and you are just wanting to hear information about your immigrant visa, press 1
It will then ask you if you know your CIS receipt number.....press 1
(Once you have a case number you can use this.....press 2)
You then follow the instructions to key in your number.
If will then tell you if NVC has received the petition, and assigned a number.
This automated service is available 24/7.
Once you have your case number you can call them at any time to hear any updates on your case, using either the NVC case number or your CIS (NOA) receipt number.
Choice of Agent
Many are having success in emailing the NVC to choose their agent in place of mailing the DS-3032. NVC generally sends a confirmation email within a couple of days. If not you will need to call to confirm that it has been accepted.
In the Subject/Title line put your NVC assigned Case Number and the Beneficiary's Name
Example for body of email:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Re the subject line case number
My name is (put full name),
I have not received my DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) form and I would like to appoint my husband/wife as my choice of agent.
His/her name is (full name)
(Full mailing address)
All correspondence from the U.S. Department of State (National Visa Center) concerning my immigration visa application should be sent to my appointed agent at the address above. Thank you.
Sincerely yours,
-
so then I dont have to worry about packet 4/?? since I filled out ds 230 and sent it along with the IV package??
and what about packet 3???
hi mr khan i think i can give you complete detail about K 1-3 PACKET basically K1-3 packet is belong to K-3 VISA which is non immigran fiancee visa
this imformation is use=fulful for K-1 FIANCEE NON IMMIGRANT PERSONS
IMMIGRANT VISAS
PACKET THREE (3)– K1 VISA
Your non immigrant K1 visa petition has been approved. While no assurance can be given regarding the date of your visa interview appointment, you should now prepare for that appointment by taking the following steps:
FIRST: Complete and return immediately to the Immigrant visa section at the American Embassy the enclosed Form (Applicant Statement) and form DS-230 Part 1.
SECOND: Obtain the following documents on this checklist, which pertain to you. As you obtain each document, check the box before each item and return this form to the Immigrant Visa Section at the American Embassy, New Delhi. DO NOT SEND THE DOCUMENTS TO THIS OFFICE. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THE DOCUMENTS AT THE TIME OF YOUR INTERVIEW.
PASSPORT: Each applicant must have a valid passport. The passport must be valid for travel to the United States and must have at least six months validity beyond the issuance date of the visa. The passport should reflect the correct name and date of birth of the applicant. The visa is issued in the name given in the applicant's passport. A female applicant does not compulsorily have to change her name to her married name. Those applicants whose passports are issued in their maiden names will have their visas issued in their maiden names. Applicants should bring all current and former/expired passports with them to the Embassy for their interview.
PHOTOS: See attached sheet.
APPLICATION FORMS: attached forms DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application, for each applicant (two for each applicant). Separate forms should be completed for each applicant. When completing the form please include all names used by each applicant, including any names used in the past. In particular, married women must be sure to include their full name as used before marriage, after marriage, and any other aliases. Please use the exact spelling and name order indicated in the applicant's passport.
BIRTH CERTIFICATE: Original and photocopy. Each applicant must submit an original and a clear photocopy of his/her birth certificate. The certificate should include the applicant's name, date & place of birth, the names of both parents, and the seal of the issuing office; i.e., the municipal authorities. If your name is not mentioned in the birth certificate and if any details are missing in the birth certificate or if there is a discrepancy regarding your date of birth or name, submit the certificate along with secondary evidence.
Secondary evidence can be a baptismal certificate, an adoption decree, a school record, a notarized affidavit from a close relative (a parent, a close relative, a neighbor or friend who was present at the time of your birth) on the appropriate stamp paper, which must be sworn before a First Class Magistrate. The person making this affidavit must state how he/she knows your family and how he/she knows the facts of your birth. Secondary evidence must have your name, date and place of birth; names of both parents; and the seal of the issuing office. If your birth was not recorded, please submit a "no record of birth registration" letter from the relevant municipality along with secondary evidence and if your birth record has been destroyed or the municipality authorities will not issue one, submit a letter from the municipality stating so along with secondary evidence. Secondary evidence may be a baptismal certificate, an adoption decree, a school record, a notarized affidavit from a close relative (a parent, a close relative, a neighbor or friend who was present at the time of your birth) on the appropriate stamp paper, which must be sworn before a First Class Magistrate. The person making this affidavit must state how he/she knows your family and how he/she knows the facts of your birth. Secondary evidence must have your name, date and place of birth; names of both parents; and the seal of the issuing office.
Note: If any of these documents were issued in a regional language, a notarized English translation is required in addition to the original.
TERMINATION OF PREVIOUS MARRIAGE: All applicants who have divorced or whose spouses have died must provide an original and a clear photocopy of proof of the legal termination of all previous marriages (death certificate of spouse, divorce decree). Divorce between Hindus and Christians must be documented by a court order. A certificate from the Kazi or the head of the Jammat must document divorce between Muslims. If any of these documents were issued in a local language, a notarized English translation is required in addition to the original.
PROOF OF RELATIONSHIP: We strongly suggest that all applicants bring extensive documentary evidence of the relationship between the petitioner and the primary beneficiary and between the primary beneficiary and any derivative beneficiaries. Failure to do so could greatly delay your application while your application is investigated. Some examples of such evidence are family and other photographs (old and recent) showing the parties together, letters, cards, correspondence, and telephone records.
POLICE REPORT: Each applicant aged 16 years and older must submit a police certificate that includes information regarding the applicant including all arrests, the reason for the arrest(s) and the disposition of such cases. (A) Indian citizens residing in India for six months or more since turning 16 years of age must present Indian police clearance certificates from both their district police station and the local area passport office. Applicants whose passports were issued within six months of the visa interview may present just the passport office certificate. These certificates are valid for one year from the date of issuance. (B) If an Indian citizen who has lived in India for at least one year after the age of 16 currently resides outside India, he/she must obtain a certificate issued by the Indian Embassy or Consulate where he/she lives. These certificates are valid for only one year from the date of issuance.
© Foreign police certificates: applicants who have resided in any other country for one year or more after the age of 16 must also submit police certificates for these countries. Applicants may inquire with our Immigrant Visa Unit regarding police certificates for these countries, telephone number: 2419-8062, 24198374 , Email:ivnd@state.gov .
