  1. I think we are all ready for the interview. Scott is coming tonight & we will get everything in order. We are driving to Montreal tomorrow morning for my Fri. interview. Wish us luck!!!!

Best of luck, girlie! I'm sooo glad that you got your house sold, everything's falling into place for you! It always does. Good things come to those who wait etc.

And yes, UK, pictures pleeeeeeeeeease! You've got to come up for air eventually! ;)

  2. Hey Poacher, you actually came in handy for once! ;) Reading your post made me realize Peter could apply for his SSN (and reminded me that I really need to change the last name on mine) and after looking into it and going to the office today, Peter got his (well, it's coming in the mail) and he's one step closer to becoming a USC. Thanks! As for his driver's permit.. well.. we'll give that a bit more time. He's never driven anything apart from a tractor in his life, so I'm a little wary yet.

I'm so glad you're enjoying the States, UK! I cannot, not, NOT wait for your wedding and all the pictures! I know how your daughter must feel, I hated going on the bus/to school as a new kid, but I know she'll make a ton of friends, especially with that adorable accent of hers.

Best of luck to everyone with upcoming interviews, I know they'll go awesomely.

Keep kicking ####, Paul and Vanessa. You should write a book after this whole fiasco and I hope it becomes a best seller and then you can buy the entire state of Vermont and fire the whole staff at VSC and.. well.. whatever from there on.

  3. Welcome to the States, UK! :D I can't wait to see YOUR wedding pictures soon enough!

Solmarc, I can't believe they're taking so long. That's just absolutely insane. We really do need poacher to help you out there.

I'm back up for air, poacher, I promise. Honeymoon is over and I'm back to work. We're gonna start the Adjustment of Status papers tomorrow.. man, that's gonna be sooooooooooo much funnnnnnnn.. :bonk:

Any news, Vanessa and Paul? :( Rooting for you super damn hard.

  4. Got our visa's/passports in hand :)

    Woooo hooooooo.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! So awesome! Can't wait to have you and your family stateside! And thank you for the compliments! Two of my bride's men (all the groomsmen except the best man were my friends cos Peter's friends couldn't make it, but it worked out!) wore funky belt buckles.. one Hello Kitty and one Nintendo buckle. They did ask me if it was okay and I said of course. As you can tell from the pictures, I wasn't all about tradition and I wanted to have as much fun and laughter as I possibly could. :D

  5. Here they are, folks. Pictures from the wedding!

  6. The word Horny is not enough i needddddd my Honeyyyyyyyy....lol.... i dont see him since may, i dont want to go to USA until i get my K1 and i ask Marc not to use his vacation days until we get the interview... here in Dominican Republic you get five extra days if you get marry i didnt know they dont do that in the USA so we need a few vacation days for our wedding... So that means i wont see him until Sept 15... 34 days from now, and i do count like you UK, we have that in common... i dont count today couse is already started and the day i will see him couse is just a few hours of waiting :) Stop those nightmares you will fine... i know!

Hey Lohninck a VJ i am talking with told me that for the change of status the husband has to do the medical again, did you know something about that?

Khark i am having this arguments about furniture from here, i want curtains, a table and chairs, and he said we will buy a house in two or three years is not worth it... i dont agree but nothing i can do from here, i have some savings and if he dont want to buy it i will decorate anyway, i dont want my mom going to my home and saying that we live like pigs, no way...lol

The fact that you used to have to do a medical again used to be true, but as of a few years ago, as long as the medical was within a year of applying for the Adjustment of Status, it's still valid and another one is not needed. More information here:

I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. If you are a K-1, K-2, K-3 or K-4 visa holder the I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. Regardless of if you are exempt from a medical exam, you are still required to complete certain portions of the I-693 and have a Civil Surgeon certify the form (and seal it in an evelope). Specifically, you will complete Part 1 (Information about you) of the I-693 and provide both the form and your DS-3025 (if you have it, proving your vaccination history) and any proof of required vaccinations that were completed prior to entering the US. If you do not have a copy of your DS-3025 you will need to provide sufficient evidence of your vaccination history to the Civil Surgeon (talk to the civil surgeon's office to discuss what vaccination records they accept as proof). If you do not have proof of your vaccination history the Civil Surgeon may insist on re-administering all the required vaccinations prior to completing the I-693. Once the Civil Surgeon has has verified that all required vaccinations have been performed, they will complete form I-693 Part 2 (the vaccination section) and Part 5 (the Civil Surgeon's Certification). They will then seal the form in an envelope and return it to you.

Phew, another hundred bucks saved at least.

  7. Lohninck! Beautiful new profile pic! Still waiting for more!

Vanessa...We are going to send you & Paul the donkey & midget right away. Hopefully they remember the pole so you can start dancing for VSC. Ply them with lots of beer. Cannot believe you guys have been waiting this long. That is insanity! Time to make some angry phone calls! After all this I hope you guys aren't going through Montreal for your interview. I still have at least 3 months ahead of me before my interview. Keep us updated on your progress & if the donkey & midget help at all!

Awww, thank you! Once I get all the pictures from the photographer I'll make a photobucket for all my buddies.. there's a bunch of Facebook albums but I'm not sure if they're friends only or not.

    Peter says hi!

  8. Hey guys,

I just wanted to finally say HI!

I have yet to post anything on these forums. You all may know my better half as 'Paul and Vanessa'. He's a frequent poster on VJ.

Wanted to say congratulations :) to all of you who have received your interview dates. We are still very patiently waiting for our NOA2. 5 months and 7 days...... :(

Any advice or tips you guys can give us would be great!

I do have one question though......what's the deal with the Donkey??? lol ;)

Damn, you should definitely contact your local congressman's immigration specialist and ask them to look into your case.. that's wayyyy too long of a wait! As for the donkey, well.. he's just a lucky charm, you might do well to keep him by your side until you get your NOA2.

  9. Glad the POE was easy for you, poacher. Ours was easy as pie, too, although he was one of the last to leave from his flight so the butterflies in the arrivals gate were killing me and every guy with long hair looked like him from afar.

I'm looking at the Adjustment of Status stuff and getting a headache already.. another $930 or so, lucky us. At least the nearest USCIS office to us seems to churn them out in 80 days or so.. but this is us we're talking about, even our RFE took forever, so we're prepared to be patient.

I bet you're totally excited to see your man soon, UK! I love the few days before you're going to see your better half, everything just seems so much better.

More pictures to come soon, I promise!

  10. Hey yall! I'm coming up for a breath of air for the first time in days. Partially because of wedding/in-law stuff, partially cos, well, sex. Married life is pretty amazing right now, I must admit. Peter's POE was very easy at Newark, they just took him into a room, took his documents, did the finger print thingy as usual, and after some waiting he was given his passport back with a "here you go." Easy as pie.

I will post tons of pictures of the wedding soon, I promise! I hope everyone's doing great.. glad to hear you finally have an interview date, solmarc! <3 It'll sneak up on you in no time.

I miss my entire VJ family immensely. Peter's out of the shower now, sooooo.. time to skedaddle!
