  1. The forms to filled are less but you have to get witnesses, bills together, taxes file together... a lot of stuff and is for ten years... is too much things Jesus!!!

I have tomorrow an interview, if you believe in God please pray for me, if not wish me luck, lol.

Good luck! Which place are you interviewing at? Did you go to Elizabeth for your biometrics? That's where Peter and I are going on the 25th.

Edit: Nevermind, just read your signature and saw that you did. What were they like, if you don't mind my asking?

  2. That's great news! Congrats to everyone so far!!

Joe and I are gearing up to submit my AOS/EAD next month. Question, so I'm under the impression that the EAD typically arrives within 3mths of submission. So what's the average timeline of acquiring the Greencard? 18mths as mentioned here and there? And I thought I saw somewhere that once we've acquired the Greencard, we have to renew it in 2yrs time? I'm confused on that part.

From what I've gathered, yes, EAD arrives in 2-3 months but I've seen the greencard arrive a lot earlier than 18 months, that's for sure, probably closer to 3-4 months. They seem to be speeding it up on that kinda stuff lately. Anddd I think after 2 years you have to apply for removal of conditions ( http://www.visajourney.com/content/751guide ) so at least you have 2 years of no paperwork to worry about, just collecting evidence of a bona fide marriage.

  3. Happy Valentine's Day my fellow Feb filers! Hope you all have a great day with your loved ones!(L)

I have great news! My AOS & EAD were approved on the 11th & my AP on the 12th! :dancing:

Wow! Congratulations! That's very awesome. We got an RFE because I forgot to include proof of citizenship for my joint sponsor (apparently 3 years of tax returns + his social security number were not enough, geez) but it should be all good now. Happy Valentine's Day to you all, too! I woke up this morning to a very beautiful bouquet, my first time ever getting flowers on Valentine's, so I don't care how stereotypical it is, it's adorable. :luv:

  4. So my case was transferred to CSC and today the online status shows that The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office

Any idea what does it mean?

My guess is they're now working on your case in CSC and you just have to sit and wait for them to approve it now. Just my take on it anyway.

Made a copy of my joint sponsor's birth certificate and mailed it off today. Hope it's good enough proof of citizenship for them.

  5. I got our RFE letter in the mail today and it's exactly what I thought it would be for. We didn't include proof of our joint-sponsor's citizenship. I didn't even read about it being necessary until I saw it in someone's signature on VJ after sending out the AOS packet. Oh well, it's an easy fix, I'll send it out tomorrow and hopefully it'll put us back on track by the time we get to his biometrics appointment.

    Any news, birdygirl?

  6. We got a text this afternoon of an RFE for our AOS case, boo. I think I know what it is though, I don't think I included proof of my co-sponsor's citizenship or some b/s like that. It seems like more people get RFEs with AOSes than anything else. So it goes, I'm not as flustered as I was last time. My birthday's tomorrow so this isn't the best gift one can receive, but I'll deal.

  7. Those are all gorgeous, UK! Once I have a stable job and more expendable income you can bet I'll buy a couple of those bracelets for sure. :) If they're still there when I do get a job, haha.

We got our bio letter yesterday, we're very happy and pleasantly surprised at how fast the system is moving. Figures that once we're all together and waits don't seem so bad, they're much shorter.

One of my stones fell out of my engagement ring a couple weeks ago :( we're getting it repaired, but in the meantime, Peter came into the basement storage while I was looking for something and proposed to me with the first ring he bought me back in 2006 so my finger isn't lonely. He's still as adorable as the day I met him.

We were at Target yesterday and he bought flashcards about US states, their capitols, and US presidents. He's going to be a better American citizen than me when the time comes, sheesh.

  8. Finally my case number for I-485 showed up online. It says "we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action."

Little confused as i thought i will have Biometrics done before case progresses anywhere but still there i have not received any Bio letter. Also why did they transfer to CSC? Does every case go to CSC? Something wrong with my case?

Little confused as things are not occurring in the order i thought they will. :(

From what I've gathered, if a case is sent to CSC that generally means they won't require an interview from you so you're on one of the best tracks. Relax! Everything will be okay. :)

  9. Hey Everyone, Just to let you all know that we are in fact, still alive and was not taken away by aliens or indeed kidnapped by hobbits....or even donkeys lol.....no starving midgets have cooked and eaten us either.

Glad to hear everyone's getting on with the next step....we had all our bi metrics done...and like Poacher we also got a RFE...but we did what they requested and are now waiting to hear back from them....difference is I guess now, we are all together so the RFE isnt a heart break or as feared as it was this time last year right?

OMG its actually a year since we all started this process, now I look back it seems to have flown by but during the feb-sept seemed to take forever. I actually managed to get the business online and up and running...thanks to Ken :) Wouldn't have done it without him...its www.fantasyjewelrygoddess.com you are all most welcome to go check it out and let me know what you think.

I love reading on what you've all been doing, life is a lot busier than we thought...lol...well maybe not. Our youngest started Ballet...so adorable. Our son signed up for Baseball (little league) so I hope that he settles down and enjoys it. They are both fully settled into school and I'm sorry to say that our daughter has now totally lost her English accent and is full on American lol....that didn't take long :(

Anyway, I hope that you and your wonderful spouses are all well and keeping warm (so much snow, the kids love it)

    Stay safe.....hugs to you all

    Em and Ken

So glad to see you, Em! I was wondering how you were doing. :) So happy to hear the kids are settling in.. I did little league when I was your son's age but I wish I had done ballet instead, haha.

  10. Uh oh, I didn't send an income tax return for 2010 either. Of course I didn't, I didn't get my W2's for 2010 before we sent my husband's AOS package. I sent it off then because I thought USCIS prefers if you file for AOS before your I-94 expires, and to do that I could not submit an income tax return for 2010. Sheesh. I did have a letter from my employer though, stating my position and salary. I hope that's good enough and I don't get a RFE.

Yeah, I think USCIS seems to be ####### about this. It's sensitive, I guess, because we all applied at the start of the year but before the tax season. I hope it's just a few grumpy/picky employees and it doesn't happen to all of us.

  11. Got RFE'd today ugggh......this is so stupid! They say I need to submit a income tax return for the most recent tax year(2010). I sent in the 3 recent tax years statements07, 08,09...however Im assuming the USCIS looks at it like that I was fired or layed off and had no income for 2010. Im still working at the same job hello?????????? :bonk: I need to submit a statement from my company explaining my position and salary and etc.

Just wondering if I could just submit one off my sections of my 2010 W2 and this would be allright?

    Matt

That really sucks.. ;\ I was out of a job when I applied and still am (been unemployed for less than a month but it still sucks!) but I did hold employment for most of 2010.. so I might get RFE'd too? I dunno. I hope our joint sponsor will be enough for them but we'll see..

In happier news (for me, anyway), we got our NOA1s today. Looking forward to the biometrics letter soon pleeeeease!

  12. I'm very glad you two came to a conclusion on this. As a (female) American citizen who was the petitioner as well, I know how much stress she's going through worrying about the visa and wedding planning at the same time. Take a peek at my signature, through the grace of some luck Peter managed to arrive *days* before the wedding I had been planning since August 2009. I always managed to luck out in the end.. but damn if it wasn't stressful, and I probably wound up saying some very conflicting things to my now husband back when we were still apart. I was thankful to have my step-dad pay for the entire wedding, because I'm the only daughter on all sides of the family, mom's, dad's, step's, in-laws', etc., but if we had to pay for it out of pocket I still would have been just as happy. It was a backyard wedding on the hottest day of the year (I did NOT plan on that, but at least there wasn't a cloud in the sky!) and to be completely honest, out of all the photos, all the gifts, all the guests that were there to celebrate with us, my favorite part of the entire wedding, which started at 6 PM and ended at 5 AM, was his vows to me. I still get teary eyed 6 months later thinking about them. I would have felt just the same if we had performed it in a court room.

He even mentioned the visa process in part of his vows. "I really feel that that's the kind of relationship we have, and that's what's carried us across the ocean so many times to see each other. That's what's helped us through our time apart when we've been counting the days. It's kept us from giving up when a long and excruciating visa application process was a constant source of stress and worry." So.. as long as you love each other, everything will work out. Always. :)

  13. Yes, the receipt number starts with MSC. I just registered those numbers to my online account at the USCIS website. That way I will get emailed when anything gets approved. It's so weird, going to that website and checking if anything has been "touched" reminds me back before we got our NOA2 for the K-1 visa. I was checking that website pretty much every day back then. It's so much nicer now though since my husband and I aren't separated this time. :)

Yeah, definitely. I tried the number last night and it didn't work, but I'm not bothered. I might check every day or so for poops and giggles, but it's definitely not as bad as it used to be. I feel so bad for people with VSC right now, most of them are far beyond the 5 month processing wait and I thought 4 months was bad.

Oh hey, just tried the numbers now and they work, yay! Back to "My Case Status" every day again.

  14. We got the emails and texts tonight that our applications have been received and accepted, and Peter's I-94 expired back in October, so you'll be more than okay, cdnangel. We might get some flack for home translating his birth certificate because, as one might guess, there are no Danish translators in NJ that don't want to charge an arm and a leg for it. We're bracing for the RFE if they wanna complain about it, but we're not shelling out the stupid amount of cash until then. The $1070 fee was enough, plus the $200 for his medical. Oy vey.

I hope the wounds heal soon, poacher. Those bears.. they can be vicious.

  15. We got our texts/emails tonight! I'm glad they didn't send the packet back with a big ol rejection letter slapped on. Still bracing for a potential RFE but I'm glad we're on the right track so far. It was the perfect thing to see after a stressful day of baking cupcakes and making homemade icing.. hey, baby showers are tough to cater for, okay?

And that sucks that it's so far away from you, birdygirl. NJ is such a tiny state and has two USCIS offices within an hour driving distance. :\ Good luck! At least you can make something of a trip out of it.

  16. Always good to feel welcome and having others as a source of information on this matter, it is very appreciated!

Lohninck - aww thank you! Am thrilled to read you didn't come across any problems going through the first "level" other than an RFE on your DK->US journey. I (and my fiancee) might have some questions and will definitely be fond of the A's to the Q's or advise :)

Yeah, it was just a missed box on one of the forms on my part, apparently one of the more commonly missed questions, too. Just when I thought I had made sure I crossed all my t's and dotted all my i's.. ah well. All done now, right? :)

  17. Welcome to Visa Journey! As someone who's gone through K-1 with a Dane, you are more than welcome to ask as many questions as you want. You're very fortunate to have a very lax, efficient, friendly and easy consulate on your side. :) I also have packet 3 scanned if you ever need to take a sneak peek. Good luck and I hope your NOA2 comes soon!

Off-topic: Hey O&C! Long time no see!
