I don't even know how to respond to this. It's pure Talking Point. No, we don't need every sheriff to ignore his job requirements and cherry pick his causes unilaterally, to the detriment of his serving the rest of his duties. No, we don't want people in power who think they are above the law.
When we have that, we get a lot of abuse. Many of us are not fans of being abused by uniforms on a power trip. I suppose you think that only those on the fringes would ever be on the receiving end of mistreatment. That's not so.

Just research a bit. The feds are suing him for obstructing their investigation. He's pretty much the only state guy in history to simply ignore the government's requests for info and cooperation. His m.o. is acting like he is accountable to nobody, and like Arizona is his own private wild west. All blindingly arrogant civil rights abusing maniac rampages must come to an end sometime. He's had his fun and people have died. Reality check time.

Because everyone who has ever been arrested is guilty and deserving of torturous conditions. Arpaio runs a jail, not a prison. If that whole fundamental human rights, presumption of innocence thing means anything to you. Wait, don't answer that.

Proper name abstract noun general assertion abstract concept!!!
The guy isn't a concept; he's a civil servant. He's failed to fulfill his duty as sheriff, which is why the outstanding warrant roster in AZ is out of control. He's failed at his job because he decided to launch a crusade instead. You may enjoy that, but he can't just Not do his job. That's not how it works, even if you have given him a shiny medal that flashes TRUE AMERICAN HERO in red white and blue.

So you think that eiminating the 1st amendment would solve this problem. Maybe just a little and for a little while? Then we will put it back how it was? So does nancy Pelosi, she would like to restore the "fairness doctirne" to prevent people from saying what you are saying on the radio. That's OK?
It is PRIVATE PROPERTY paid for by PRIVATE funds. It is religious property and the government cannot stop a private organization from building a building in compliance with codes on its own property.
The citizens of the US do not have to like it. The bill of rights protects UNpopular things, NOT popular things.

Mmm...it's not hard if you can walk and chew gum at the same time. Also, "America" doesn't do, or think, anything. America is the general term for an enormously diverse body of people that share a land mass, many of whom are capable of making a distinction between terrorists and community center members. The word for the people that can't make that distinction is "sad," not "American."

Just because you guys make sure to set up your important "points" for plausible deniability doesn't mean the motivation is invisible to people who aren't in a coma.
Obama is middle of the road. He is waaaay too far to the right for most "Liberals." He's pretty much followed W's lead on all things hawky, or done him one "better." There's not any legitimate support for the notion that he's hellbent on turning you all into helpless cogs in a big scary commie machine, or whatever the fantasy is.
The uproar since Obama's election is irrational, frightening, and utterly out of proportion to Obama's actual deeds. The real source of the massive histrionic overreaction is obvious and sad.
And I wouldn't care if you all spent the rest of your lives snarling impotently about imaginary crimes, except that you are contributing from your basement fortresses to the fearmongering and the hate that is ramping up to obscene, shameful levels and successfully creating an atmosphere of violence, xenophobia, and racism.
It's the easiest thing in the world to pretend all that hate and intolerance has nothing to do with you. But that's a lie.
Things have gotten too real for this sh*t. Too dangerous. It was never okay, but it has become absolutely indefensible to gleefully lie, scorn, and demonize and then plead ignorance when people get hurt. Lazily hateful and sick.

There is often more debris left behind after a gathering of 2 million people versus a gathering of 80,000. Liberals often refer to this phenomenon as "math."

Oh and for what's it's worth, I think Gore is a potentially well-intentioned robot man with questionable hair, possibly autistic spectrum and generally repellant. Even though I would've taken Big Bird over Bush, I got a spontaneous full body rash every time I had to watch Gore debate. Shudder.

I know it hurts but here's a bit of context to the discussion. Those railing against the extension today have been quite supportive of the very same thing in years past. Of course, then it was them running the show and that made it alright.

I am sure this is a very interesting argument to those of us who are employed. But for those who aren't being told, despite all of the evidence to the contrary, 'this is all your fault you lazy, society sucking leach' is likely pretty offensive.
When you point out a single fault in the current American business model perhaps you will gain a scintilla of credibility. Until then, you just seem to be a broken record focused solely on the less fortunate, ignoring all of the outside factors that assist in creating the misery.
Are there leaches on the public dole? Sure.
Are there parasites in the US business community making a mint destroying the ability of many to earn a living? Apparently not in your one track mind.

    Lets put the numbers down.
    $7.25 per hour * 40 hour weeks = $290 * 4 weeks = $1,160 [without tax]
    Take out $200 for taxes = $960
Take out $450 for dirt cheap rent = $510
Take out $200 for crappy food = $310
What about even $100 for a shitty beaten up car? Since you have to drive everywhere here.
    What about fuel?
What about insurance, which tends to be cunningly based on credit ratings?
    What about buying a prescription?
You think this person has any chance of succeeding or becoming a millionaire? Hell to the no. Go to night school you say, how? when? with what money?
Now before you cry, I will use the system I know best, as an example [AUS]. The same person doing the exact same thing but work in a different country would earn over $2.2k USD a month, receive health care, retirement, sick and 4 weeks vacation. Yes under that system, you can very well start with nothing and get on your feet.

The way the system is setup here, it's almost impossible to get out of poverty in one generation, unless you are extremley lucky. Unfortunately that is not opportunity, that is simply playing the odds.
Many claim being on welfare for no legitimate reasons makes you a bludger and and leech. Okay, I will accept that.
The same folks then turn around and claim those working 40+ hours, with no health care, no retirement and no adequate sick or vacation time [4 weeks], are simply overspending. Okay, I will accept that idiocy too.
What I find bizarre is that so many who say this and think along these lines, are living a paycheck away from poverty themselves. In fact, many live in homes and drive vehicles that couldn't pay for the deposit of a house in the UK, Canada, Japan, Australia etc etc. Live a Q.O.L that most abroad ironically sneer at. It's just amazing that those hating on others, are by International definition living in poverty and losers themselves. We cannot accept that though, it goes against the indoctrinated belief that US is still the best, and the rest of the world sucks.
I am sure mocking me will begin soon, as it seems to be the choice of response to such news; or the usual get out, because we basically do not want anyone to hear the truth.

What is this, some kind of performance art? I can't tell whether you all are serious or not. The way you guys sit around looking for random, nonsensical things to jab at is really pretty bizarre and disturbing.
The only part that upsets me is that it's not totally random. The choice to make a "point" about the "dirtiness" of an enormous mixed-race crowd celebrating the election of a black man versus the "cleanliness" of a tiny lily-white crowd gathered together to be fat and nonspecifically resentful is telling, to say the least.
The point itself is utterly without merit, but the way you are able to inject the freshly invented "argument" into the discussion without having to justify its existence, prove it, or make it useful in any way is basically trolling on a grand scale. And you love it, and it gives you a smug thrill, and the dishonesty and intellectual laziness and ugliness of the tactic bothers you not one iota. Gross.
