  1. Nope, the IO said it might take up to 4 month, I am hoping it doesn't, but I am ready to wait for so much, this was the reason why I filed on the day I was eligible, because I know even a simple process takes a long time:)

At least you are almost done...doing my happy dance for you and so excited!! WOOT WOOT!!

My interview is on March 8th...if all goes well I will be having the biggest burn party with all of my immigration paperwork..teehee

  2. I'm reading my interview instructions and it says:

"NOTE: Unless a traffic incident was alcohol or drug related or caused serious personal injury to another person, you do not need to submit documentation for traffic fines and incidents that did not involve an actual arrest if the only penalty was a fine of less than $500 and/or points on your driver's license."

I know we've had a lot of discussion about our traffic tickets in the past so wanted to share the exact words from the instructions I'm seeing.

I also did not know I needed to bring my children's birth certificates! I wouldn't have even thought of that though it makes sense. Eek!

    This is great information! Thanks

  3. Hello to the VJ community. My name is CJ, and i have some things i could really use some help and advice with. Me and my girlfriends situation is sort of difficult to sort out in regards to gaining the information we need for the K1 visa process. we have quite a few concerns. A quick background, me and her had met playing videos games years ago and it was just recent that we have decided to get together and to marry. While we do have a genuine intent and all, we are kind of nervous that it might be very difficult to prove so when we file the 129 form package. I'll explain below.

Currently we have not met, and we are planning for her to come over the first week of may for a few weeks to visit and meet, due to the requirement of meeting in person, as well as obviously we really want to anyway. Our concern here is that she is not 18 as of yet, and will be april 30th, hence why waiting for the first week of may. While we do have phone records, skype messages and calls, as well as transactions between our bank accounts, as well as when she arrives i will be proposing and will keep that receipt for the ring as well, can we use proof from before her turning 18 since in the US 18 is the legal age? as well as what can we do to provide sufficient evidence of our relationship. The 129 package being the first thing to be completed, and our situation currently, has us very much concerned and afraid. Anything would be great, thanks in advance.

Did you read the K1 guide on this website? It is very very helpful.

  4. I had been trying to do that but couldn't find anyone in my area so nothing to go by!

The fellow on the phone last night insisted that I would see the date online when it was available and I knew that was probably nonsense! Called back in this morning and escalated my call. I was able to get my date told to me over the phone which was great. I explained that my mailman continues to miss my house and randomly deliver mail. She told me that if I don't get my letter that I should call in again 5 days before my interview and they'll fax it to me so I have it to present. Otherwise I won't be able to get in!

Either way... got my date. March 22nd! Wow!

Hallelujah (insert choir singing hear)! Congrats Ms. Hogan. See what happens when I stay off of VJ for a bit!

Come on Jimmy - hoping that you get good news soon!

  5. Everything went great for me as well:). I was the first one there, since my interview was scheduled for 8am and I live 1:30 minutes away. I was called at 8:05 and put under oath, sat down, she went over the 6 questions, which was very easy and fast, then through all the Y and N answers on my N400. Told me I passed and the oath might take up to 4 months to be scheduled, which is fine:) I asked how exactly the name change will work for me, she made me sign with my new signature, which I have never done, and was totally freaked out, even though it was just a signature LOL

I don't remember how many questions I got asked, but I can only remember three LOL

All the best to everybody still waiting for the interview:)

Wow, in a few months I will be able to travel with my blue passport yeahhhh:)

WOOO HOOO Congrats Girl!!!! So very happy for you!!!

  6. Don't feel bad my adult stepchildren hated me when we were dating and when we first got married (almost 4 years ago). They are finally starting to come around when they realized that I wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. We have been together for almost 10 years and are at least civil to each other for the sake of their father/my husband. December was the first decent Xmas that we had together.

Hang in there. The only thing that you can do is be there for your husband.

  7. :dance:HE PASSED!!

He was so nervous but did great. I timed him and from the minute they called him in to the minute he walked out was about 20 minutes. He said they went over his paperwork, had him do the sentence, answer six questions from the list and that was that. Oath is in March!!

WOOT WOOT Congrats....that is very exciting...

I am lurking over here again...know that I should go back to the December thread

  8. Yes just thinking ahead. Im in an apartment next to my parents lol. So Im wanting to get out when we can. Just getting ideas for future I guess. I was also thinking about that myself getting a home in my name. Was actually thinking about a manufacture home. I know they decrease in value unless you have it somewhere you cant move it and do upgrades to it.

Just cant think of us living here for another 2-3 years to build his credit. Ive already been here 10 years.

I applaud you for being pro-active and trying to do some research to see what lies ahead for you. Maybe speak to a real estate agent to see what the process will consist of as well as speaking to your bank to see what kind of mortgage they may be able to provide.

When I moved down to the US, my husband and I bought our house and it was a dump. We paid cash and lived through reno hell. I always said if our marriage could survive through that then it could survive anything.

    Good luck.

  9. moemac59 your process is just astonishingly fast!! Any secret? lol. Good luck!!!

    Hey Osune,

I am very lucky that this is going so fast. I had an attorney in Buffalo do my application for me because I work for a Canadian company and didn't want any bs happening with my application due to days away from home so I decided to hire this firm. They were expensive but I think it was worth it. My lawyer told me that when their office calls the USCIS Buffalo field office, the field office actually takes their calls.

It could be the name of the attorney that I used or the fact that I live in bum $#@* nowhere. I mean seriously, who wants to live in this part of NY State since it is so expensive and taxed super high. If my husband didn't own a business here, we would have been long gone.

  10. Congrats on the interview appointment:).

I am silently stalking the December threat because of you LOL.

Woot, woot. I am so excited about my interview next week:)

LOL thanks Plam. Can you believe it? I never thought that we would get to this point. I am actually hyperventilating thinking about this and just want this to be done.

I'll creep back over to the November N-400 topic next week after you do yours to see how you made out.

Good luck next week!! You've got this!!!!

  11. Good grief, I know nothing about these things! I got a speeding ticket. I called the number on the ticket and paid it. I got an email receipt. End of discussion I thought. I don't have the ticket anymore. I don't have any letters. Should I be doing something else? I also requested my Ohio driver's abstract and have the one from before I moved from Ontario for insurance purposes. I am trying to order another Ontario one that goes back further than 3 years. But do we really need this stuff?

    https://www.apps.rus.mto.gov.on.ca/jtips/drivingrecord5Y.do?method=view - Here's the link for that

and if you want and extended version, you can fax or mail:

    http://www.forms.ssb.gov.on.ca/mbs/ssb/forms/ssbforms.nsf/GetFileAttach/023-SR-LC-112E~2/$File/SR-LC-112E.pdf

  12. This definitely won't slow down the scheduling of your interview at all.

You can bring this up as a correction at the interview... remember that there's a section on the application that you're not supposed to sign until the interview? That's so you can sign it after all corrections and under oath.

Whew thanks Jimmy. I have been so STRESSED and freaking out about this since I found out (should really stay off of VJ for a bit) while researching the interview process. This makes me feel 100% better

Just got notification that interview has been scheduled (1/26).

Will let you know once I get the letter with the date.

    Congrats!! :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

  13. I also checked NO and i have few tickets, like speeding, parking.... Will that be an issue?

Glad to see that I am not the only one here who did this.

From what my lawyer said and the research that I have been doing it shouldn't be as long as you flag this with the IO at the beginning of your interview and let them know that it was not intentional to omit this information and that your interpretation of the N-400 was that you thought that it meant that while you were a PR in the US. . Also bring any evidence you have that shows that all the fines have been paid. I am in the process of trying to obtain a certified copy of my drivers abstract from Ontario for all the years that I lived there.I will be trying to do the same for my NY state DL. From the research that I have been doing if the ticket was under $500 and it wasn't for a DUI then this should be okay.

When I got the ticket in Quebec, I was going with the flow of traffic but because I had Ontario plates I believe that is why the cop pulled me over and ticketed me...they don't like Ontarians in Quebec very much.

  14. One more update to go... you should get an "interview has been scheduled" notification before they send the letter.

In some offices it's just a few days, in others it's 2 or 3 months.

I keep hoping I am as lucky as Spoom is and that interview has been scheduled notification comes right away.

I think that the only thing that will slow me down is that I checked off no on my N400 application that I have never been cited...well stupid me didn't realize that this also meant any traffic tickets.

When I went in for my bio appt, I asked about the traffic violations questions on the N-445 that will be issued before the interview where it ask about tickets. The USCIS IO told me that they want all of your driving history not just your driving history since you have been a PR in the US....I was gob smacked...we are talking about going back to 1983 since I started driving.

I had an unpaid speeding ticket in Quebec from 2012 which I paid on line yesterday...thought that I paid it as I was getting ready to move to the US and turns out I didn't. I have maybe 4 speeding tickets (usually 12-14 mph) over the limit but these are all paid. I am hustling to get certified copies of my drivers abstract and will explain to the IO that I didn't realize on the N400 that you had to include these.

I am smacking myself in the head for this now.
