I recently applied for and received my US passport. Unfortunately the place of birth says California instead of United kingdom.
They didn't need my birth certificate just my Naturalization Cert. Which clearly states country of former nationality as United Kingdom.
Will this be an issue if I used this passport to travel?
I have contacted the department of state and they tell me now they need a copy of my birth certificate, the passport and a statement explaining the correction needed. Why do they now need my birth certificate if they didn't need it in the first place to issue the passport.

The good guys won, end of story. How does not matter
I have a feeling that it didn't matter who won the election. The American people lost.

Because some need basic understanding
Sounds like Chinese whispers to me. The more people you have interpreting Trump the more the message changes. So people end up hearing what they want.

Why Companies Like Boeing Keep Outsourcing American JobsI get a good laugh when people tell me they are buying an f150 BECAUSE they only buy american made
Because it is market driven. Americans want cheap affordable products. Products that cannot be manufactured in America because no American or legal permanent resident is willing to work for a bowl of rice a week.

What Trump basically said was he wants Boeing to prosper and make lots of money but the days of bottomless pocket books and cost overruns on the tax payers dime is over. How could any sane person find fault with that
One question. Why does the future Dictator in Chief's comments need to be constantly interpreted?
It seems he has an army of supplicants hanging on his every tweet who then go out and spread the translated word of Trump.
I am personally looking forward to welcoming the new crowned monarch, Head of the Church of America, to the thrown.. May he reign over us a long time..... Sorry, I meant to say president.......

Everything is expensive in the UK relative to the US, but such is life.
Give it time. President elect Trump will fix that in his first 100 days.

Surely you have to have the medical before the interview as the embassy needs the report from the doctor to process your K1. That was my experience 6 years ago.
The doctors office will tell you what to bring. I think from memory you need to bring your passport as well.

Once married you become an immediate relative. Immediate relatives can adjust status in country.
as to the rest of it. Good luck with it.

You can apply for a waiver

Not true at all.
Please point me towards verified documentation so that I dont make the same error again.
Thanks

DCF is only possible if your US wife has Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK

Personal Trainer, I doubt you will get a work visa for that. An EB3 maybe...... But I doubt there is no shortage of local personal trainers in New York State.

Not sure why you broke it down that way. We are well aware that football is a profession and his work and he can't work until he gets work authorization. I never suggested anything different.
Clarity...... Not everybody is as "on the ball" ( was that a football pun, I hope not) as you are.

Yeah we are well aware of the conditions on AP, but he won't just end his soccer all together, it is his profession and what he does to make a living. When he arrives in the US, he will be playing professionally here.
Thanks for the first suggestion, that might be something for us to consider. It's not definite that we will have to do that, but it at least gives us that option.
Football = profession = work. Nope he cant work in the US until he gets work authorization... I have made the assumption he is coming in on a K1 Visa as you said fiancé.

What happens if entering America from England with K1 visa Flying Aer Lingus. You now go through customs in Dublin, Ireland, so how would that work once you landed in America?!? Thanks

Correct. If you never had $10,000 (£6750) in 2015, it doesn't apply to you. I believe Yuna may have exceeded the value but didn't know if she was a "US person" having arrived as a K1 late in the year.
Ok Gotcha. I had a panic when I seen this.... For a moment I thought I was in deep doodoo.

Whilst they're all polite to my face, my wife's family is very catholic, trump supporters and I personally find them a little racist, a little homophobic and a lot of their comments I find aren't what'd be acceptable at home in England.
Welcome to 21st Century America......
Don't be a shrinking violet. express your views, politely off course. The only way to change bigotry is to confront it. Get it out in the light and dealt with. You are probably not going to change them but you might be able to get them modify their behavior around any future grand children.
Good look.

But the instructions say this.
Who Must File an FBAR. A United States person that has a financial interest in or signature authority over foreign financial accounts must file an FBAR if the aggregate value of the foreign financial accounts exceeds $10,000 at any time during the calendar year. See General Definitions, to determine who is a United States person.
So say your account never exceeded say $7000 in a financial year , I would read that as not having to file at all.

Dublin airport web site has their own bit about us preclearance.

I did my POE in the "old" Dublin airport terminal. It was cramped and the lines could be long but I took that over the possibility of being refused (even if it was very unlikely) stateside. It just meant to me that all hurdles had been completed up to that point. I could enjoy my flight with no worries and just get off at the gate and head straight to baggage claim. I also felt smug to be able to walk past the CBP in Newark.
It has been nearly six years. I wonder if they still try the joke about tearing up the visa and your packet so that you can escape being married....
-
Ya know, if you want to get citizenship, which you don't have to do.
Absolutely..... But it does puts an end to the whole USCIS pretty much permanently. And with dual citizenship (USA/UK) no more problems with CBP or UKBA, or even EU border checks. I like to travel...
-
So now is the time to get your N-400 prep done........ Not long now till you can apply for citizenship and then the USCIS can be a memory...

1. You can get married, stay in the country and adjust. Overstay is forgiven for spouses of USC. Anybody who's telling you to leave is incorrect.
2. You will have to file I-130 (and pay the fee) along with your adjustment of status. Yes, this is extra money. Alas.
3. You can only do the above as long as you're marrying the K1 petitioner.
Just to expand on point 2. File I130 and I485 concurrently (at the same time). Just filing an I130 will not work.

Thanks for the replies.
Just means I have to deal with Federal Gov, one more time.... The fun.
