  1. Ney, I had been meaning to ask you this.. they are doing interviews on a SUNDAY? I'm impressed anyone in the US Government is working on a weekend :) Regardless of what country they are in.

No offense to Krystle or anyone else, but Ney and her family are in my prayers more than anyone! Unfortunately, I understand, too well, the difficulties her son and I face with interviews in that particular part of the world. The one good thing for Ney and her son is that his fiance is a woman. Things seem to go much easier for the women than for the men.. but I don't think many people (except those going through it in these countries) really understand how different and difficult it is for the MENA countries. I didn't even realize how much more difficult the visas were there until I started reading VJ.

And yes, I know.. Turkey is not technically in the Middle East.. but when it comes to visas they are treated pretty much the same ( and China seems to get the same treatment and scrutiny too.. sometimes it seems they are even harder).

But..today is not about worrying.. today is about the great news we are going to hear.

COME ON our Jamaican Queen.. bring us some good news. I imagine you sitting there, in the consulate, right now.. and I hope you know we are all sitting there with you!

I understand your concern with MENA countries, they are historically difficult. But to give you all some hope, my VJ friend went through Morocco at the end of January, a country known for automatic administrative review, and they received approval the same day of interview and a visa in hand one week later. I fully expected to be consoling her after the interview but it happened for them, and it WILL happen for Ney and Jenn..

  2. Good Morning everyone! I am sorry to be absent so much. I am thinking about you all. I know that there are interviews coming up and I am losing track and feel horrible about it. Things have been a bit hectic since Antonio arrived with the wedding planning. And until he has a US driver's license he is stuck at home until I get off work everyday, and I feel guilty living him alone to get on the computer in the evening.

The wedding will be March 20th the first day of spring, and I am wrestling with friends with good intentions with this "First Day of Spring" theme. I am having trouble being gentle with some of the OVERLY spring ideas.. If they had their way, the guests would expect the Easter Bunny to jump out of the wedding cake! DOH! Oh Why oh Why did his parents decide to fly over..? I would SOOOO be in Vegas, baby! And we have to do it all over again in Italy in September..

I have an idea for a gift for your honey(s) that I discovered back in December. You can contact your US Senator and request a flag be flown over the Capital and they will send you the flag and a certificate honoring someone. I think it was $19.00 for the cost of the flag. If you request them early enough you can request the flag be flown on a specific day, like for instance the interview date (and of course this will be the same day everyone gets approval for the K-1!!)

Good Luck to you all, and especially Kjenkins right now. I really need to get a spreadsheet to keep up!

  3. Lol, as I was writing ours I thought of writing a funny 1 but the old folks wouldn't get it and thus wouldn't think it's funny. But is that your vows for real???

Mine: As I give myself to you in marriage I promise to encourage and inspire you, to laugh with you and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle. I promise to love you in good times and in bad,

when life seems easy and when it seems hard.

I promise to care for and always cherish you. These things I give to you today, and all the days of our life.

    Isn't love a beautiful thing?

Gaynto's hubby is coming tomorrow, I know she is not sleeping!

Good Morning Everyone!!! I beat Krystle to the punch!!! Wooo Hoooo

I go to pick up Antonio today!!! YEAAA!

I love it when my friends ask "How long is he staying?" and I can say "Until we moved to Italy together" BOOOM!

I have only one regret..... Now I have to share a closet with a boy! And an Italian boy, so it's like sharing with a girl!!!

Everyone have a great day.. I have go to the grocery store because the pantry looks like Old Mother Hubbard's, go sample the catering for the wedding...Then I am off to Charlotte to get my honey. He arrives after 11pm tonight!!

  4. Goodmorning everyone, as usual I'm the first one in here

I can't express how lonely I am and MISS my honey :crying: But everything will be coming through soon and he will be on the next thing smoking. Thank goodness I don't have a credit card because if I did I'd be there this weekend :star:

    Everyone have a great weekend

Good Morning Krystle!! : ) Your honey will be with you soon. Just imagine how happy you will be when you are sitting next to him and they say "approved"!!

    Have a good weekend.

  5. Goodmorning everyone!

I see yesterday was a quite day in the forum, we must've been busy @ work.

I noticed AandD visited the forum yesterday but she didn't post anything, hmmm.

As the days are getting closer I'm excited to see my hubby and pass that interview. But last night I was reading reviews about my consulate and it turns out they're not very nice, so now I'm nervous. I can't think of a reason why they would deny us but in the mean time I'm trying my best to stay positive and have faith.

    Everyone: have a great day!

    20 DAYS TIL OUR INTERVIEW!

Your interview is going to go smoothly! Don't worry!

  6. It's quite in here today.

I am so tired of seeing my avatar photo but everytime I try to change it some silly message pops up.

Quick poll: what are we sending our honey for valentines? (for those who's hubby isn't here yet)

what are we doing for valentines (for those who's hubby is here)

I think Antonio will be holding my hair back, since making wedding plans for March is making me a nervous wreck.. (or maybe just dinner at our favorite restaurant)

    I like your pic!

  7. Lol @ Jenn! Well Jenn, someone's gotta start the morning off, why not me? I was up researching how much a cruise ship wedding would cost, after two websites: can't afford it! I'm not mad though, I still want to marry the man of my dreams, I just didn't want civil ceremony pictures :-(

Sending good vibes & limbs for Kayla, Maggie & AandD!

Later everyone, going to pull out my last penny @ the bank!

Have you thought about a wedding on the beach? Then a reception elsewhere?

  8. Still 16 here today.

I think I'd like some Bourbon!

You know, I've noticed something. Canadian liquor is stronger than american. At least on somethings. I LOVE those Smirnoff flavored beer thingies. If I buy them down here I can drink like the whole 6 pack and not feel the least bit tipsy. But when I went to visit Mathew in November he got me some of the raspberry flavored(heaven in a bottle) and I could barely walk, lol.

I would think that he put a little somethin' extra in it if it weren't for the fact that he's never seen me drink. but now that he has, I think he loves it. Let's just say he got a lot of added bonus out of it. ;)

Guess that means I gotta do a good drinking experiment.

Give me another week and I'll be throwing another crazy fit over the fact that Montreal hasn't even batted an eyelash at our file.

Ranting is necessary, because dammit, it makes me feel good! :)

    Such Awesome news today...

Interview Dates and Visas oh My!

CONGRATS GANG!! I am slow on the replying but doing my best to keep up..

By the way Maggie ...it's still cold in South Carolina! : (

  9. Well, i have all the pictures, e-mails and so on on my laptop. Does anybody knows if it could be brought to the interview? In that way i can also show all the times i've been here with my g/f because the stamps on the passport can only say that i've been in the USA (19 times since we met :))

Scan and print your passport and all the stamps. The petition filed and any other additional evidence you have accumulated since filing should be taken to the interview. With 19 trips, I doubt you will have any difficulty, but overprepared is better.

They asked my fiance how we met, flipped through his documents and sent him to pick up his visa at 5pm.

  10. Happy New Years to all.

We too are having our interview soon. She is going to Warsaw on Monday morning. Medical is Thuesday at 11:00am and the interview is on Wednesday at 9:30am. I'm getting worried about it don't know who is worried more her or me. We both know that it's going to be good at the end. It's on the 6 of January. I can't wait til Wednesday to get it done with so we can start planning our life and we can finally get some sleep at night. Just counting days....

    Happy New Year's everyone!

Don't worry Seb928 the interview will go great!! You are almost there!

  11. Now the question becomes, "will this thread last another 24 hours?"

What's missing is the "YouTube" of the OP on Jay Leno=>

    Jay:

"When did you discover your soon to be husband was a louse?

-We'll find out after the commercial..."

I'll be in Rome next week... want me to tell Massimo "what up?"

  12. Yes, that was a reply to the OP about looking again in a different country!

But you raise a good point, in general, I don't get why people go to such extreme lengths to find a wife/husband abroad and do not first make a good hard attempt at finding a partner that is already legally here, first... so you can spend a lot of time with them before getting married, get to know their friends and family if possible, see how they live, I can carry on because there are just soo many advantages of knowing your partner well before marriage... (this is common sense btw)

Now I've heard that people look abroad for "variety", come on, non sense! there are huge international communities here in the USA, already legal ! No gambling with your life in questioning: "is she marrying me just to get to the USA and then will take off business"

You think it's condescending that I think it's best to marry someone that you've known for a while first and gotten to know well before marriage? why? No.. It was the find someone here part... and like I said if it was a reply to the OPs concern for another petition.. HEAR YA.. we are on the same page with that.

Often (not always!!!) through the K1 route this does not seem to happen... seems like just a short visit here or there and chats online and 'Bob's your uncle' they're married and shortly after the problems start - cultural differences, language barrier, age difference etc. If you get to know someone well beforehand a lot of these issues are straightened out and there aren't such extreme surprises...

Yes of course there are those times when you fall in love and "you just know it's right" but sheezz, in the case of bringing a complete stranger over on a K1, gambling with your money, happiness etc. don't you wanna be damn sure about that instead of just relying on a fleeting feeling? Why not go visit over there for a few months, or help the fiancee to come over here on a tourist visa to spend some time together first? Then she can go home, you can both see if you still feel like spending the rest of your lives together and Then apply for a fiance visa?
