So I recieved my father-in-laws cartila militar (proof of military service) yesterday and while I am glad to have it, I am not looking forward to the extensive translation I will be spending my saturday doing. There are like 5 pages that have general information about the mexican army and mexico that are on everyones cartilla. Do I need to translate that stuff to or can I only translate the stuff that is directly related to him?
Thanks again
I don't think it is for you to translate. You have to get an independent party who is qualified to certify the translation as being accurate. Not just anyone they need to be sure the translation is 100%. So you will have to spend some $ to get that done.

Tom the kingstion, jamaica consulate said that DHL would accept payment when the packet arrived...COD- Cash On Delivery.
Thanks Ricardo. I am just gun shy now because of resent events so I am trying to cover all bases. I also do not want to give her any room for additional mistakes. I know she is not liking the attention and directions I am now giving her.
However, I dont like all of this extra stuff we are having to do because she give the time to didnt properly prepare and understand what was required of her.
Hopefully we both will learn from this.

tomD,
i paid 247.00 pesos for the delivery of my visa at air 21 booth inside the embassy.. i hope everything's gonna be alright tomd. just tell your wife to call the embassy asap so that she will know if they already have the document so that if they dont have it yet she can call back to NSO and ask some explanation... so that she can plan for the next set... good luck.. and stay cool my friend... i'll pray for you!
Thanks again. I ask her earlier if she paid for the delivery cost of the Courier and she said they said she can pay when they deliver. I hate these kinds of response because I see potential problems... I will forward you response to her and tell her again that she needs to call and get assurance that we have done all that we can. I am leaning toward having her go back to Manila its only 2 1/2 hours for her and then we will be sure.

I have emailed my embassy several times and they usually are prompt with their replies. However, I emailed them recently, on Wednesday to reschedule my husband's interview, but I got no response. Friday was a holiday in Guyana, so they were close. I'm hoping I get a response from them on Monday. Good luck with everything TomD.
Thanks Jusjuwife thats good to know. I hope they will respond to me on Monday if not I will be calling them.

guys!!!!! i finally got my visa today!!!!!!
wishing good luck to everyone!!!!!
and tomd.... cheer up! your wife is almost there... maybe all they need is proof... so tell your wife to call the embassy and ask if they already have the documents.. goodluck!!!!!
Thanks nix & lai, Yes I am cheery,
I am also just upset that we tripped up at the exit door. This was not necessary and it has complicated things and brought frustration unnecessarily to both of us. She didn't do it on purpose I know, but she did it just the same as a result of her not paying attention. Which has been a problem from day one. I already told her to call them on Monday to see if the document is there. If it is not at the embassy then she needs to call NSO which I ask her to do on Friday afternoon. If she doesn't get a good answer from them, she needs to go to Manila again and hand deliver it to the embassy. We have come too far to fall down now.
How much did the Courier charge for delivery of your Visa? I want to make sure she give her Mom enough money to pay them. I know she will be at work as she still has not put in for a leave of absence.
Congrats to those who are where I want to be !!!
And those who are getting near share my story with you significant other and triple check your documentation for what you need and what you have.
Even a bad example can provide your good lessons.
-
Tom, Hopefully this will all be sorted out quickly and your wife will get her visa. In a way, this was a blessing in disguise. Sometimes, learning a lesson the hard way really ensures a genuine change in the way we do things in the future! I wish you both the best!
NOW There is a positive twist.
I hope your right...
Thanks I think once my wife gets here I am going to go back and have her read and relive all of this... just as a refresher...

Yep I know. I was distinguishing between CE**NO**MAR (Certificate of no marriage) and CEMAR (Certificate of Marriage.)
Basically, what you want is the NSO copy, the civil registrar's copy isn't given much credence, in my experience. For example, when we worked on our son's US Passport in the Phils at the US Embassy, the civil copy would have been worthless; only the NSO copy was considered worthy....
Thanks for clarifying it Jon. I didn't know the difference. Darn Acronyms... But I certainly do now expecially after she got bite by it. She should have gotten another one when the one she had was taken because of the Passport renewal but she didnt.
-
Tom,
NSO Marriage Certificate and CEMAR are the same thing. (CENOMAR is a Certificate of No Marriage, which is needed for fiancee visas.)
Jon
Thanks Jon but she is not my fiancee. She is my wife. Guess everyone needs it. I am hopeful we will get this resolved or completed in time to get her the VISA. Fingers Crossed...

Anyone hear from TomD? He seems to have just dropped off! Am curious to hear if his wife got the visa and why she didn't contact him straight away!
I'm doin fine. Thanks for asking. No updates to report. I have spoken to my wife and I think I crushed her. Not intentionally but just by my forceful nature. I know when I was in PI everyone though I was Strict. I though they were lackadaisical. I got a bunch of I am trying my best and I am sorry but its not my fault and that's not what I want to hear. She basically made an assumption and didnt do, due diligence prior to going to the embassy. She was told by me to have original and to double check and all that Jazz. Now she is paying the price. I hope she learns form this and I hope we get the VISA in hand before Dec 1 which is her scheduled flight date.
I sent an Email to the Embassy in Manila yesterday regarding my situation and asking them if they got the Marriage Doc from NSO. I got the Auto response. Does anyone know if the Embassy response to emails directly? If so how long does it usually take them?
I am sort of stuck cause I cant do anything from here really. I sent my wife an email and told her she needs to call the Embassy on Monday and if they dont have here NSO Marriage Doc. Then she needs to go to Manila and hand deliver is ASAP. For those from the Philippines are NSO Copies of Marriage the same as CENOMAR's. I saw in an earlier post someone saying something to that effect. I dont think they are the same but what do I know.
Enjoy the Weekend I have a bottle of Jack calling me...

hi tomd..
sad to hear about that... but let me ask you first... is it really NBO or NSO? cause if your speaking about NSO Marriage certificate.. when you renew you passport or a certain documents here in the philippines they really ask for your original copies (which is NSO copy) birth or marriage certificate... and your wife should really get a copy of it so that she can present it to the embassy or to the consul. and she can get a copy of it for just an hours.. cause before i have the interview this morning, yesterday i went to the NSO to get a copy of our marriage certificate,, i got there by 8am and was release around 10am... to tell your wife to be there early so that she could get it right away. so that she could call the embassy,
dont worry tomd everything will be alright... maybe they only want proof cause as you've said.. when she renew her passport her name change.. maybe the embassy/consul just want some proof... =) cheer up!!!!!!!!!!
but honestly when i have my interview early this morning... i could say that people in the embassy are nice... the filipino pre-screener just ask this questions...
-who's petitioning you..
-where did you meet..
-when did you meet...
-how many times did he visited you...
-when did you get married...
-is this your first marriage...
-do you have children...
-is she a us citizen...
then she ask for my daughter's crba and us passport..
then she ask again...
... do you have pictures together... so i gave her all the pictures i have prepare...
then she told me to wait again for my number for the finger scanning...
all in all i got the 5:45 and finished at around 8:45...
Hi 'nix and lai',
As you know I am happy for you.
It might be NSO. She had a copy of the NSO but the Embassy wanted the Original. She explained that they took it when she got her passport and that was the problem. How FU** many Originals do people think that their are. They should be asking for cerified copies in my view. I just wish she would have been better prepared.
She went to the NSO office and got the document or paid for it and they told her she didnt need to give it to the embassy that they would be picking it up. Sounded strange to me so I told her to call them tomorrow at 330 pm and see if it was picked up. If not she needs to go to manila again and return to the embassy. If NSO said it has been picked up I want her to cal lthe embassy on Monday to verify they have it.
I also told her that everything I read said that the Embassy people were nice so I think it must have been her. I know she can be difficult even her mom says so.
I think the family is happy that we married and she is leaving.
They will have peace. She didnt like hearing that either. Sometimes people can also sense if you're stiff and then they become stiff.
just courious Did you have a NSO Marriage Certificate? They keep all her documents and passport so I am sure it will be fine but this was all unnessasary. They will courior them to her house I just need that to happen ASAP or atleast within 15-20 days or other things will begin to get messy.
She was not happy after we got off the phone I know that. She is just trying to do to many things and she dropped the ball. Her job should have taken a back seat and she should have gotten more envolved but she seems addictied to it.
Well I am going to get my mind off this for a while .
Take care ALL.

Hey, do you know how long is our police clearance certificate is valid for?
Typically 6 months . I think they should also state this on the document itself although each country is a bit different.

Thanks Mrs. D!
Tom is now plotting his revenge.
Who Me????
I wrote the rest of the sage on the Nov interview forum... For those inquiring minds...

omg!!!!!! VISA APPROVE!!!!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish you all the best!!!
I wish I could say the same but I still am not sure. I spoke to my wife today. Boy Filipinos are hard headed and will not accept responsibility!!! I am speaking of my wife of course. First off I tell her I am not happy that she waited so long to inform me about whats going on. So she said I already told you I am sorry in the email.
Well you should know me by now. I can not let that stand. So I told her "I am sorry" are only words that have little meaning unless they are accompanied by action. They are not a get out of jail free card. Then I said oh I am sorry. Then I ask her to tell me what happened and she softly proceeded.
Turns out when she got her passport renewed last month to reflect her name change. They took her Marriage Certificate(NBO)at the Passport office. Then my little one only had a copy of the NBO. The Embassy wanted the Original. DAH!!!!!! We had already provided an Original but it was not an NBO and so she had to go to the NBO office to get one again. Then they told her that the Embassy will come by and pick it up. Really?
When? The Embassy did not tell her if she was approved or not and she didn't ask. I am getting warmer by the minute.
She said the people there were not nice to her except for this Black man. She spoke with 4 people total. I ask if she got the original documents back and her new passport. She said they are going to mail it to her with the results.
I am hoping that the NBO will satisfy the Embassy and we get the approval but time is of the essence now as I have her ticket purchased for Dec 1. I told her to call the NBO Friday at 330 pm to see if the embassy picked our M. Cert Up. Then on Monday I wanted her to call the Embassy to see if they have it and when we can expect the Passport and other documents with our Visa. She said she would do these things. I am the bad guy now for a few day I think.
She said it was not her fault and I said NO it is your fault. You should have gotten another NBO if the one you had was used at the passport place. Why the Philippines have all the NBI, CFO, NBO bull SH** I do not know other then revenue generation and too much fraud. Glad we dont have to go to Washington DC every time we need a document.
Whew I feel better now.
So in short I dont know if we have a problem or not Houston. I am thinking not but I can not claim approval until I have something stating such. Thanks for letting me rant...
I am hoping that this is all dont soon.. I am starting to feel old.............

Oh man she's making you wait!! I would be biting my nails off lol.
Yeah right now its in the 40-50s, we'll see how I manage when it starts snowing and it gets colder!
Yes see how you women treat us poor men.
I think I will enroll her in some sensitivity training classes when she gets here. I might even be the instructor...
The good thing about cold is that you can always put more or better clothes on. When it hot you have to stop at the skin...
-
Excuse me for my ignorance, btw what is NBI?
NBI is only applicable for the Philippines. You dont need to worry about it.

This thread should be closed and everyone over in NOVEMBER!!!

Chicago is pretty cool Tom. We actually went downtown today, went up to the Sears Tower. So it's all good, thank you for asking!
How did your wife do???
She said she will call me tomorrow morning with the details. Guess she is busy... So I anxiously wait...
I liked Chicago when I went there years ago. I think you will too once you get acclimated to the weather. Summers are easy but winter test you...Hang on...

Your spouse is milking your emotion for all its worth, TomD. She better get a talking-to once you get a hold of her.
But seems like things are all right. Good luck.
Well she will or has wakened the sleeping Giant and needs a come to Jesus Meeting... What goes around comes around as they say. Not that I am a vengeful person but I do believe in teaching them to fish rather than feeding them a fish.
Once my son was not doing well in school and was getting D's so one morning I ask him if he wanted breakfast and he quickly replied Yeah!!! So I was already cooking some eggs and ask him how many do you want. He said 2 and I also ask if he wanted bacon and hash browns and he of course said Yeah!!! Well I put all the above on his plate and gave them to him. however they were only 50% cooked. When I set the plate down he looked at it then looked at me with that ####### look. Then I told him Joe, if 60 % is good enough for you, its good enough for me...
I think he got the message...
Who Loves yah BABY!!!

Maybe there is a brownout.
Please..... I just got an email from the little one... I will share it with all of you...
I still dont know what the status is... I dont want to guess. Looks like she will tell me tomorrow morning as she usually calls me from her home at Night. This is the email
Hello Honey,
Good morning! Hug!
I suppose to call you last night (I bought cards in Manila ) but because I was so tired/dizzy, I fell asleep right away!
And when I wake it’s already morning! I AM SORRY for not thinking that you are waiting for my updates..,
I encounter minor problem in the U.S. Embassy but then I was able to mange everything, so you do not need to worry.
I will call you tonight and tell what happen to me the whole day in Manila yesterday..,
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE…,
baby
Well it looks like it is all okay. I am not going to call it approved yet. Wonder if she would be so understanding when she come here and I leave her at the airport for an extra day because I fell asleep...
I'm tempted.

So after paying out IV bills on Saturday, our payment is still in process.
Did you think you were in the express line?

TomD, what's the update?

To be honest Teya I am kind of surprise how few people we have seen from Mexico in the March group. How many can you think of? I cant think of any really. Maybe they have other ways or sites to accomplish this like going directly to the Embassy. But I am just guessing.
