  1. I dont really want many relatives/people to attend...we really like it to be more private but like liz said...if you dont invite as many relatives as you can you're in trouble, but i'm doing it a friday so we'll see what happens, not expecting a party either because like i said, this one isnt the one that matters to us in the sense of love, this is more like a official way to let society know we are married, but what we believe will unite us and bless us both is to be married by church also as a part of tradition on her side since she's more religious than i am, so we'll see what happens.

  2. Maire...all i'm doing is the civil wedding in city hall and just getting together at a restaurant and that's it. The big wedding will be the religious one and that one will be in Peru in a year or so.

What's everyone doing for their wedding?

is there a separate rooms at the court houses for weddings?

Never seen the court house here in queens...seen the one in manhattan through pictures though...anyways, if you dont want it in a court hour you can have a licensed person to go and marry you wherever you want to get married at for a higher fee i believe, i was gonna do that but then again we said why spend alot of money when the one that really matters is the religious wedding...anyways, i got the ring and dress this weekend...well the rings are coming in sometime this or next week because our sizes were not in stock so when you get your rings and if just in case your sizes are not in stock...make sure you order them 3 weeks ahead of the wedding date.

well im super nervious cus ive never been to a wedding so I have no idea what to do..

need me to tell you as far as i know? i barely been to weddings but i have an idea of how it is...unless someone can tell us more with details how it is.

    please....

ok as far as I CAN TELL... is...

you have to check out your county clerk website, they have the instructions for obtaining a marriage license that should be useful for 60 days, you cant get married within 24 hours unless you obtain a waiver for a judge. the fee isnt more than 35 for the license.

Next you gotta set the date at least make it a month after arrival and start looking for the rings asap because if they need to do a special order it'll take 2 weeks or so to get the ring done. Also, start looking for the dress, i suggest white silky or cream, sometimes it's not about the price but how good it looks on you that matters because you'll have your pictures taken right after the ceremony and you wanna look good in those picture because they'll be there for a life time. Ok, now in city hall...or the place where th marriage is performed...idk how it is in there...if you gotta make a line or you gotta reserve a spot...not sure of the fee either.... but once you are there they'll call you, tell you a little marriage lecture, you say I DO and give each other a kiss and receive the congratulations from everyone who is present...very important, make sure you have a witness or two present. After the wedding...well up to you, go celebrate at a nice restaurant or just have a family reunion at home and celebrate. I suggest to make it a friday just so you have a day off from work and also a long weekend ;)

    any more questions?

  6. There isn't going to be a wedding just yet. We are going to the local borough hall and getting married there. Afterwards we will go out to a restaurant with some friends of ours and do some celebrating. On the 26th, we will go to my parents house and do the family thing (DRINKING).

Actual wedding we still have to discuss. Maybe we will have it or maybe not. We are not sure yet.

BTW...... Besides Liz nobody even remembered or wrote anything about the fact that I have been missing from VJ. (you are the best Liz).

Richard this is why you not invited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am hurt, really hurt I tell you.

Look at the Sheriffs website... i think they are the ones that issue State IDs in NY

Alright, about doing the name change for the SSN...she wants to keep her last name, not take on mine... lol i guess i can still do it now if there wont be a name change...or her name automatically changes once we get married?

  10. So tonight was the first night with no hookey pookey lmao and i gotta catch up with school work. Been going out alot lately. How's everyone doing? I'm wondering if i could get her a state ID (ny ID non- drivers license) now or i have to wait until we're married, or can i get her a social security card as of now? that's another interesting question that even Maire would like to know.

spoke to my attorney this morning . he told me to chill and enjoy single life. he just received NOA2 for another client of his filed in January 2009 with no additional touches and RFEs or other #######. So chill and relax and enjoy ur life USCIS is all over the place and absolutely wacko

have your bachelors party and enjoy it all you can while you can...he's right lol

First of all is HUNKY PUNKY so get it right!!!!!!!!

and yes I would like to know the answer to everything..i think we are both lost...but I also think that the first thing to do is marriage and then social security...I think

OK... you WILL wear the pants at home...i can tell already... geez sorry for getting it WRONG lady! lmao

  12. Need the cost for AP and the EAD is included with the Adjustment of Status. You just have to fill out the forms at the same time.

As for employment, that is going to be hard. I speak great english and I wouldn't want to be looking for a job right now. I would try looking for places that need spanish speaking employees.

That's hard to find, they mostly ask bilingual (english-spanish) speaking person...but we'll see, I think a family member of hers can hook her up with something....but any additional ideas are welcome, i'm gonna sign her up in my college for english classes starting october.

  13. Maire,

He will arrive in the US on with the K-1 Visa. He will have to fill out an I-94 form, which will be stapled in his passport. So the K-1 is done! and he is here with an I-94. it will expire in 90 days. So, get married and fill out a bunch of forms again. He has to make sure he has all the vaccine records too. It not hard...easier than before! Use the guides when you are ready.

what guides? also with the i94 can he work? or he has to wait for after marriage?

I'm a bit confused too..i think the work permit and advanced parole can be included in the i495 at no extra cost, just pay the 1010$...?

Someone that went through all this or is sure about what to do...it would be great and kind of you if you could make a word doc. with the step by step of filling out which docs and what type of docs have to be presented...the guide for AOS is more for a K3 rather than a K1....

He has to wait until after marriage. When you do the adjustment of status you can also do work authorization as well as advance parole which will allow him to leave the country and come back.

the advanced parole is at an extra cost no?

Lee is correct. When you do the AOS you have a couple optional things as well.. first is a work permit and the second it advanced parole. It is all included in the $1010 fee. So it wouldnt hurt to do it. I told Maria she can not work until she has the work permit. This process is too long and difficult for any problems that may send her away. Not happening!

Now here is another dilemma... even with the work permit, what are any good places for a person that has basic or minimum english knowledge TO WORK AT???
