ok here is the application to obtain a SS# http://www.ssa.gov/online/ss-5.pdf
and here is a chart that tells which visa classifications allows you to obtain a SS# http://www.ssa.gov/immigration/visa.htm
Ok at least i got that clear, now...about the change of status, dont know which one to do, go for temporary and then permanent or just jump straight to permanent, then again...permanent its $1010 and at the moment i'm drying my savings but i guess i can push it, any advice?

I am very envious of Susan and need. I am so happy that you will be with your SO's so soon.
Need I am pretty sure that you can apply for a social security number about two weeks after she arrives. I think you have to have that so she can get her marriage license. It differs from state to state, but I'd look into that first. As for the adjustment of status you have to do that after you get married. You can also apply for work authorization and advance parole, which will allow her to leave the country. The best thing to do would be to go to the guides at the top of the VisaJourney page and there it has all the finite details.
Hey Lee...thanks alot for the info, your time will come soon just be patient and dont stress yourself out so much. I read the guide and it tells me that i have to file the I 485 which is basically just filing for a green card but i think i read something somewhere about a temporary residency and right afterward the permanent residency. I dunno, i'm confused ever since i read that somewhere... about the s.s needed for marriage...i would have to check what is needed here in Nyc...as far as i'm aware you just get the marriage license 24 hour or more before your wedding day and that's it. Anyone with experinces in ny here? lol
Anyways, again, thanks alot

Congrats Susan! I am so happy for you.
 When do you move?
Thanks Lee, my flight is booked for 23rd Sept
REaly looking forward to moving.
Thanks Liz
Susan congratulations!!
make sure you have some mojitos to celebrate, oh...don't forget the piña colada and peach daiquiris!!! those are delicious drinks for a change

Ok...anytime now Jenny will be having her interview...
No reason there should be a problem, but still nervous...
should know by midnight I hope...or worst case in the morning...
Don't worry Dave. Be prepared to have a great phone call sometime tonight.
Jenny is online now - she got a Pink slip
She said she got a kind and approachable pre-screener, and then only had a few questions at the interview:
how and where we met
who is the petitioner
her birthdate
my full name and citizenship
now just waiting for delivery
Dude congrats...sorry i'm late at congratulating you, i missed out alot while i was gone then coming back to work and being busy
wish you the best for all things to come my friend

Hey guys! how are you doing today!
Well today Kathy went to pick up her passport and the envelope containing the docs. As far as when she'll get here, chances are that tomorrow imma buy her ticket to arrive Sept. 9. That'll give her plenty of time to say her goodbyes to her family and get other things done. i start school at the end of the month eek... and other than that, we're looking to get married Sept. 23rd....
Now...i'm not too sure about the change of status, i think first its a temporary resident and after some months or a year or two you apply for permanent resident? I'm a bit confused there as you can see because i read something like this somewhere...
Adjustment of status.. if that is what you mean from my point of view will be done as quickly as possible after marriage..I will also apply for advanced parole so God forbid something happens back home, she can travel without fear of not being able to return. Is that what you were referring to Need?
September 9!!! that will be here very quickly! I am excited for you!!
Hi Richard, good morning! thanks for all man and for being happy for me!! Yea it'll come quickly, i'm gonna go pay for the ticket this afternoon and that'll confirm it all
Well, yes, that's what i meant, the change of status but i'm not sure where i saw that first it's change of status as a temporary resident (you still get driver's licese and social security number which allows you to work) and after some time you apply for permanent residency. Please explain, i've seen the process here but it's not really clear since i read that somewhere. I know right after marriage you can file for the green card but it will still take time to get approved, so how can i get her social security and ID, i'm confused there, also, if all things go well, I wont need that advanced parole, our religious wedding will be in Peru but i think with the expenses i had, i think i will need some time before we do that, i'm looking for a part time job after hours just so i can get rid of the debts faster, i know it will all work out, this 129F burden just showed me that patience is a virtue and once you learn it all good things just happen.

LOOKS WHATS HAPPENING LOL I GUESS EVENTUALLY YOU JUST GROW UP AND GET OVER THINGS AND ACCEPT THINGS, JUST GIVE HIM TIME AND UNDERSTANDING I GUESS...
Congrtas Need. I am happy for you my frined. I am also glad that the process was an easy and painless one.thanks alot.
PS: sorry again, caps up there lol

Thank you Richard, whats your status so far with your process?
Still awaiting our NOA2.... Joanna has her and the children's medical this friday... and I think we are done on the paperwork, process side..... pending the NOA2, NVC and interview...
did you try calling the national visa center, im sure they can give you more details.
Oh i spoke to one of those national security guys who stamp your passport, well the guy told me if im coming with my girl who has a k1 visa and im the citizen, we dont have to go through the VISA line in the airport, i just show my passport and we take the quick and smooth road...the visa line in jfk airport is HUGE... just letting you guys know that.
Really? I would think that would be ok on a tourist visa, but on a K1? I thought was #######(p) they needed to do... take the envelope and warn you to get married in 90 days
Well i guess that'll happen, the guy even said " K1... i havent seen one of those in a while" lol... anyways, i guess that does happen it just that you dont go through the "tough" visa line agents, those guys act like hard asses... these who check the us citizen are easy going and nicer in my opinion and therefore she would just give her envelope, xray and passport to the guys, then the 90 days warning and thats it, and even faster because if i would've picked her up then she would've come with me in the U.S citizens line, which is faster and shorter...the visa line... WOW... really long = ( poor baby, i'm gonna have to give her a peace of mind about that too, that its long but she should not be scared of that. It's her first time traveling alone.

sorry about the caps...just noticed them lol
ps: here at my job i work with caps so in the rush to get things done here and checking the forums i forget lol sorry again guys
LOL, I just thought it was all the excitement and adrenaline
man.... when we got out of the embassy, Kathy and I were still in shock and i think we are still in shock because it doesn't feel that we got it, i know she got it and she knows she got it but we're still in a shock that its like beyond wow...as if this was just a dream lol
I think I can understand... even though I am not quite there yet... I also think it is this dang process.... if it was like getting a loan kind of process and it took like a week.... and the FEAR of everything was removed or at least lessened.... I think it would feel a little different... but, then, what do I know
Nevertheless... I am very very excited and happy for both of you!!!
Thank you Richard, whats your status so far with your process?

GUYS SORRY I WAS CHECKING OUT THE FORUMS! ALOT OF GOOD NEWS! SO I WILL ADD MYSELF TOO BECAUSE I GOT APPROVED! WELL IT WAS ABOUT 3 HOURS. I WAS ONLY ASKED TWO QUESTIONS AND THEY ONLY ASKED ME FOR MY TAX RETURN, DIDNT EVEN LOOK AT ANY BANK LETTER OR STATEMENTS, NOTHING. KATHY WENT THROUGH HER INTERVIEW WITH THE USUAL QUESTIONS...WE WENT THROUGH 3 PEOPLE...
1. THIS ONE ASKED HER FOR THE PAPERS SHE HAD TO FILL OUT AND PASSPORT SIZED PICS. (10MINS)
1 HOUR LATER
2.THIS ONE ASKED HER MORE QUESTIONS, I WENT WITH HER AND THE LADY ASKED ME IF I WAS CARLOS GUANILO, I SAID YES, SHE SAID OK THANK YOU HAVE A SEAT AND ASKED KATHY ALOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW WE MET, HOW LONG WE'VE KNOWN EACH OTHER, HOW WE COMMUNICATED, IF SHE HAS BEEN TO THE U.S, WHEN WAS SHE DENIED VISAS, AND SO ON... ALSO ASKED HER FOR THE AFFIDAVIT OF OF SUPPORT AND JUST ASKED FOR MY TAX RETURN, OH AND SOME PICS, OUT OF THE WHOLE ALBUM OF 200+ SHE TOLD KATHY TO PICK 10 THATS IT. (20 MINS)
1.5HOURS LATER
3. SHE CALLED HER AND ASKED HER TO GET HER FINGERS SCANNED, MADE HER SWEAR. ASKED ME 2 QUESTIONS, THEN 3 MORE TO HER, THEN SHE SAID, CONGRATS VISA IS GRANTED, GO TO THE DHL KIOSK OUTSIDE WITH THIS TICKET. (15 MINS)
THERE YOU GO FOLKS...IT WAS FAST AND I TOOK ALOT OF PAPER WORK AND I JUST USED 2 THINGS LOL BUT I PLAYED IT SAFE. ALSO THERE WERE 3 K1 CASES THERE BUT NONE WENT WITH THEIR PARTNER, THEY WERE SENT TO A LITTLE ROOM WITH THE GENERAL CONSUL IN AN INTERVIEW THAT LASTER AROUND 25 - 35 MINS, I TOOK THE TIME AND I OVERHEARD A FEW OF THEM. 1 WAS DENIED FOR SOMETHING SMALL. OTHERS JUST HAD THE INTERVIEW THEN TO THE WINDOW WHERE KATHY AND I WENT, WE DIDNT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE GENERAL CONSUL I GUESS... LOL NOW... SHE GETS HER PASSPORT BACK TOMORROW AND I GOTTA LOOK FOR A PLANE TICKET FOR HER FOR THE END OF THE MONTH...
ANY QUESTIONS GUYS? = )
WONDERFUL news!!!!! and it just goes to show you... BE PREPARED
I am very happy for you my friend!
Are you bringing her back with you? How long are you staying? etc? etc?
DUDE, I WISH I COULD'VE BRING HER WITH ME, I GOT THERE AT 4.15AM AND GOT TO HER PLACE AT AROUND 5AM. DIDNT EVEN SLEEP, WE WERE FINISHING THE LAST DETAILS OF THE PAPERWORK AND THEN THE CAB WAS WAITING FOR US OUTSIDE AT 6.30AM, THEN WENT TO THE INTERVIEW AND THAT IT, AFTER THAT JUST SPEND THE WEEKEND WITH HER AND TOOK MY PLANE LAST NIGHT AND I JUST GOT HERE AROUND 8.30AM, TOOK A CAB IN JFK TO MY PLACE, DROPED MY BAGS, GOT IN MY CAR AND CAME TO WORK...I WISH I WOULD'VE STAYED LONGER...I COULD'VE IF I TOOK MY VACATIONS BUT I DECIDED TO SAVE THEM FOR WHEN SHE COMES HERE SO I CAN SHOW HER AROUND AND ALSO SPEND TIME WITH HER. KINDA SUCKS I DIDNT STAY, PAID ALOT OF MONEY FOR THE TICKET BUT IM HAPPY I WAS WITH HER BECAUSE SHE COULD'VE BEEN ALOT MORE NERVOUS BUT WITH ME, ALL SHE DID WAS HOLD HANDS AND I TRIED TO GIVE HER PIECE OF MIND BY JUST TALKING ABOUT RANDOM STUFF AND JOKING AROUND WITH HER, SHE FELT RELAXED AND THEREFORE, THE INTERVIEW WENT SMOOTHLY AND IT WAS A BENEFIT TO BE THERE MYSELF, NO INTERVIEW WITH THE GENERAL CONSUL LOL.
IM LOOKING TO BRING HER BY THE END OF THE MONTH, GOTTA START LOOKING FOR THE PLANE TICKET ! THANKS BUDDY!
Hey Guys...As far as the medical goes... My understanding is that they are just checking to see if there are serious diseases (STD's) that could be carried and spread. Maria did have to get a tetinus shot before they would sign off on her medical exam. They also told her she would have to get a few more shots when she gets here. Dont know what they are yet.
THERE'LL ALSO BE X-RAY AND OTHER VACCINE THAT THE MOST EXPENSIVE, I FORGOT THE NAME OF THAT ONE.

I'll be honest to you guys... when i sent my 129F VSC sent me everything back...guess what happened...the form 129F was one that was expired...i got so sad thinking it was more than that but then i re-arranged everything and got some stuff notarized and wrote more detailed statements of each proof i was providing and next thing i know case was received. I know some stuff does makes everyone worried if it will go fine or not but i guess in something like this only patience and learning from the mistakes makes it all happen...you know what i mean... so just be positive and cheer up guy!

It's only a little over a 3 hour flight you could be here for dinner or drinks and then you could see the city. A few days of a 'sex in the city' lifestyle.
Roman it really doesn't matter to me anywhere and anything is fine with me.
I was thinking some light like sushi. What do you say????????
Sushiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...Now I know I have a place to crash when I go to NY..thats if u dont mind going out with a "tourist" that will be taking pictures at ANYTHING

Richard, it's the social security that you have to do before the I94 expires but I was wondering when that's filled up, does the beneficiary have to state a return date? because i think the I-94 is filled the beneficiary when he/she arrives into the U.S no?
