  1. hmm i would think you may need to report it the day of the accident, you would think you'd want to if a death occured especially .... hmmm i may be failing the test now, i don't ever remember that question being on the canadian driver test, that was a few years ago for me though .

  2. My hubby and I are wanting to purchase a bigger dog when we move into our new home. That won't be awhile yet but we just started doing a little shopping adn hunting around to get an idea of what we might like. We have a little yorkie as of right now. We want to add to our family lol. The other day we just took a boo in a pet store after doing our routine at the gym and saw some puggles. (Half Pug Half Beagle) They were so adorable. Just curious to see what they would sell a mixed breed for, they told me 849 bucks!!! Is it just me or is that highly over priced? Especially for a mut? Is that not what it would be when you mix breeds? It's not pure bread and or registered. I don't know but that seems a little high to me. Makes me think that we just might go to the local shelter and just find a pup there. Right now they have 4 shepard mix pups that are adorable. 2 look more like a german shepard and the other two along an australian shepard. Oh and one husky/shepard puppy, super sweet. Who knows, just thought I'd post that and see if thats a norm for pricing. My puppy right now is pure bread, registered, and had all shots updated, etc and i paid just over 4 hundred for him.

  3. I personally as a christian get nothing out of the fact of leading someone to Christ... can I save someone, no, thats not my job. Can I share with someone, yes. I don't do it so that in the after life I can be like hey I saved you! :-p it's not like that by any means. I don't want a medal, I don't want a plaque. I don't care if I even get recognition, because no christian really should. The only one who should get any kind of attention out all of it is God himself ... it's not about me converting someone so I can gloat, or I can earn something out of it.

  4. And Pentecostals think anyone not baptized by total immersion are going to hell too

He did overgeneralize making it sound like Pentecostals in general believe this NOT just one or so :-p

roi should say something else so we can all debate bout that too hehe

Why do I continue to post...? because I hope at some point I'll clearly get the point across that I do not hate Christians, or what they stand for and that I think if Christinaity works for them...GREAT. BUT I also hope they will be able to acknowledge that while Christianity is perfect for them, that it isn't for everyone and that just because I'm not a Christian, that I'm still able to be a good caring and compassionate person, with strong morals and that these morals don't always have to come via the bible. Just because it's a religious debate, doesn't mean a non-believer of Christianity can't have personal interest and opinions.

I guess that's my blah, blah, blah...

*goes to put on saffron dress and sit in the corner with HH DL*

Frances, I wasn't aiming my comment at you in particular. I was just aiming it more at the ones that seemed to get really heated about someone voicing their view kind of in general and having an attitude well i don't want to hear it so shut up kind of thing. I respect your oppinion and appreciate what you've had to say and those in general that have made this discussion respectful towards all those though we all may have different views.

  5. Well I do believe in full immersion but I don't believe in the if you don't do it your going to hell part of it. Baptism is a commandment but it is not something you do to earn salvation or a ticket into heaven. Works can't get you into heaven...thats just my belief though. I remember when I got down here. My issue with baptism was that I always felt pressured to do it, so I never did it cuz if I did I knew I was doing it on someone elses behalf. I wanted to do it when I felt ready to make a commitment and stand for what it represents rather than someone tell me I had to do it. I finally did get baptized (immersion) a few weeks ago but it was because "I" decided the time was right for me. My husband used to attend the Church of Christ though and he told me that one time and I was devestated. I think it's sad how people take things out of context. No where in the Bible does it ever state you need to be baptised in order to earn salvation and a way into heaven. It is asked for us but I think it's totally seperate from a salvation stand point. All it really is is a public declaration that you are going to live your life and follow Christ. Die to your ways and live for his.

  6. And Pentecostals think anyone not baptized by total immersion are going to hell too!

I belonged to a pentecostal church when i lived back home in Canada and I never heard of such a belief. When I did move down here though I found out the Church of Christ believe that. I guess it doesn't matter but *Shrug*

They may believe that immersion is the way described in the bible, but that does not mean they think ppl not immersed are going to hell.

    Agree :)

  7. I am so sad to hear about your mom littlepoem. That would devestate me. Especially if I thought that would probably be the last time I'd see her. I'm struggeling with just seeing my family again and they are back home in Canada. You have great strength. I'm glad to hear that your trip back to the USA was easy breezy and that everything went well.

  8. Aww man I told myself I should just stay out of this thread. LoL ... I hope in the past few pages that I did post that I didn't offend anyone, that wasn't my intention. I just want to make a small comment about a few things. One, there have been a few people in here stating that they don't want to hear the word, they don't want to hear this, blah blah blah, well essentially most of this thread has been a religious debate. If you don't really want to hear it then why are they continually posting in here?

Also, just a question for the fellow christians in this room. How are we suppose to leave God out of things? I jsut don't understand that, I want to try too, but I don't. God is suppose to be apart of every aspect of our lives, we are suppose to "die" to ourselves and allow him to live in us. Yes we are all human, and alot of us screw up, and we're not perfect in telling people about God. Maybe the problem really is that some of us should just stop spouting at the mouth all the time (my own father as an example) and in stead of just talking the talk, we need to start walking the walk! I would never ask anyone or tell anyone to believe in something or do something that I wouldn't be doing myself. I am still learning, growing in God daily. And yes that is my "personal" decision. But that decision is what governs my entire life, my being. God is not a genie also, we just can't "Sit" back and wait for God to do something. Half the time he's probably sitting back waiting for us to do something. I believe God works through people, human beings, of all kinds. Just look at all the people he used in the Bible. Were they all high up in the food chain? were they all perfect? no, Judas sold him out, Peter denied him, Moses didn't want to listen, nor did Jonah. Yet God still worked through those human beings. The power of his nature no matter what they did. They were all willing to step up to the plate though at many times they probably made the faith in Christ look bad. Maybe even worse because some of them actually lived side by side with Jesus and yet they still struggled! Many people were witnesses and followers to his miracles and teachings and some still didn't believe! Thats all I wanted to say, I don't want to offend anyone, was just trying to look at it from a different angle is all.

  9. am very conflicted how immigration officer would react for this kind of separation - and generally I am not sure what to do, I want to start this job as soon as I can, because they waited for me and it is job in my proffesion which I always wanted to do - but on the other hand I don't want to do immigration any reason which would make them suspicious, considering fact that we don't have yet a lot of documentations.

I wouldn't worry too much. If your up front and just honest about the whole thing i'm sure you shouldn't have any issues. As for the documents, I too do not have a lot of assests and such with my husband because I just recently recieved my EAD card but am still waiting on SSN. Just gather together what you can. Lease documents, pictures, mail with the same address on it even if they mailed to you two as just individuals, insurance of any kind if you have it. Some people have like blockbuster accounts together, stuff like that. Letters, wedding cards, b-day cards. Stuff you've given eachother over the time you been married - letters, cards, etc. And pictures, I'm sure you guys will be fine :) .... I hope I am, because I as well llike i said dont' have a whole lot of stuff with my hubby and me on it cuz of the lack of a ssn.

  10. The marriage is on the rocks, but it is not over. Why would they NOT want to go through with AOS? If they don't go to the interview because their marriage is not stable at this moment, what happens down the road if the marriage improves and now they've missed their AOS interview?

I agree with the above. Just because they are having a rocky marriage, why does that mean they shouldn't be going through with the AOS? Just because it's rocky doesn't mean it's ending. If they both entered it with the right intentions and good will, not as fraud, then well then lol .... i don't know. But amancd, if you believe that your marriage is rocky enough that it's not going to last then maybe you want to reconsider but if this is just a rough spot you've both hit, there is no need for you both not to finish and go through with your interview. I guess the decision is essentially up to the both of you but if your really that worried about it maybe you need to sit down with your husband and have an honest conversation about where you both sit with one another and the relationship. Best of luck to you.

  11. I also did this as well. We used my inlaws addy, also for a safe place to mail things. Our AOS interview is coming up soon though and I was adviced to switch it to our address that we are at now and not our inlaws because it could cause trouble with them seeing that we got mail at this address yet they were mailing it to the other. I was just informed it could cuz problems when trying to prove the liability of both of us living at the same address.

  12. there is abortion, infanticide, murders, slavery, rape, child abuse, and ritual sacrafice in the bible!!

Yes but it was never tolerated. Sin is sin, but it can all be forgiven. God doesn't damn anyone to hell. He doesn't even send people there. People send themselves. It's their own choice. Not his choice. You know what hell really is? Complete seperation from God, which means anything good really, because God is all Good. Do disasters happen, for sure. But like i said way back sometimes its sad the lengths God has to take to get someones attention. He doesn't wish for us to go to hell, but you don't believe in what I believe so I don't want to affend you, i'm just stating thats how i see it. You don't have to follow suite ..

  13. Islam and Christianity are not "Sister Faiths". A side by side examination of the texts of the Bible and the Quran will quickly identify some of the differences related to Islam's teachings about Christ and the truths of my own Bible about the Son of God.

    1. Islam instructs its followers to kill their enemies, but christianity instructs its followers to love their enemies.

-The Quran say to "fight and slay the Pagans wherever you find them" (Surah 9:5) But my holy Bible tells Christ's followers to; "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you" (Matt. 5:44 KJV)

    2. Islam denies Christianities core truth-the death and resurrection of Jesus.

That they said (in boast), "We killed Chirst Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah"; but they did not kill him, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (Certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they did not kill him. Surah 4:157

Islam says that Jesus did not die on teh cross. The Bible says that Christ died on the cross and rose from the dead.

    3. Islam also denies the deity of Jesus Christ

The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the Son of Allah...Allah's curse be on them:how they are deluded away from the Truth! Surah 9:30

Not only does the Quran deny Christ's deity-but also, as we see in the verse from the Quran above, it also puts a curse on all who confess Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Islam brings Jesus Christ lower than Muhammad, making him no more than a messenger.

Christ the son of Mary was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had bot to eat their (Daily) food. See how Allah makes His Signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth! Surah 5:75

Since there are such marked differences in these areas between Islam and Christianity. Christians are commanded to "try the spirits" to see if they are from God.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, wheterh they ar of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God; Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is God, and every spirit that does not confess this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard has coming and is now already in the world 1 John 4:1-3

Allah is not the same as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. According to the Bible, God is knowable. Jesus Christ came into the world that we might know God (John 17:3) God's word tells me that man can come into a personal relationship with God the Father. He said, "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know" (Jer 33:3) God wants to love you....today.... just as you are! "For God so loved the world that He gave ..." (John 3:16) "God is love and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him" (1John 4:16)

But in Islam, Allah is unknowable. He is so exalted that no man can ever personally know Allah. The Allah of the Quran is so distant, so far off, so abstract, that no on can know him. And Muslim believers can never know the love of Allah until judgment Day when they find out if Allah loves them and will invite them into paradise. In his book, Jesus and Muhammad, Mark Gabriel, a former devout Muslim says;"If you ask a Muslim, Do you know how much Allah love you?' he will respond, 'I don't know how much he loves me. Only Allah knows." He gives an example from his life ... When I was living as a Muslim in Egypt, I was always puzzled by a littls saying that Christians ust to put on their cars or frame in their shops. The phrase was Allah Mahabe, or God is love. Thos two words are never put together in the Quran. I always thought, I wonder what those people are trying to say.

The god of Islam is totally different from the God I serve ni the Bible. The Quran tells us that the god of Islam works with Satan and demons to lead people astray in order to populate the hell he created. (surah 6:39,126;32:13;43:36-37)

For Jesus, God is a loving Father, for Muhammad, Allah is a demanding master. This description sets the tone regarding love for all their other rlationships... Allah finds new believers who will serve him better. In contrast, God the Father searches for the one lost lamb until He finds it and brings it home rejoicing. This is the difference between Allah and God ....

Watch me get stoned for all of this ...

  14. it's been a year since last may when i moved here. Thankfully I do have a green card (aos) interview at the end of this month. I just think i'm too the point though that it's all gotten to me so bad sometimes I don't even feel excited about the interview. I am but thats just how it feels sometimes. I just stating all this cuz i want you to know your not the only one feeling the way you do

  15. US officer jailed in suspected immigration scam

    1 hour, 32 minutes ago

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A U.S. immigration officer and his sister were among 27 people arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of running a fraudulent immigration business that arranged green cards through sham marriages.

Federal prosecutors allege they received more than $1 million by providing hundreds of green cards, or permanent residency documents, between April 2001 and November 2005 in exchange for fees ranging from $8,000 to $16,000.

Immigration officer Phillip Browne, 40, and Beverly Mozer-Browne, 49, face charges including visa fraud and money laundering, the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan said.

Browne worked as an adjudication officer for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS), formerly known as the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

According to the indictment, he would approve applications without an interview for people who either entered into sham marriages with U.S. citizens or forged documents showing a marriage to a U.S. citizen in the past.

Twenty-two people were arrested in New York, four in Florida and one in North Carolina, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

They included applicants and employees of the business based in the New York borough of Queens who helped fabricate false birth certificates and letters from purported employers and banks.

Three others who were among the 30 people indicted remained at large.

If convicted, the defendants face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on the money laundering charges and 10 years for visa fraud.

    Go Figure!

  16. Nothing is walking distance from where I am. There isnt even anywhere I can walk the dogs really, as all the neighbours have huge, mean yard dogs that charge the gates when we pass- and ive had a few VERY close encounters! So even that I have to wait for my guy to have the time to drive us the the dog park. Its so sucky

I know! Thats the biggest pain for me. I have a little hyper Yorkie. I try to walk him daily but sometimes it's scary. Everyone around here has big dogs and their fences only go up half way up then an average fence at home would so if they wanted too, could jump over very easily. There have been many that have tried and i just walk faster. It's kind of scary.

Essentially you just have to stay positive. Thats what I try to do. Yes, I have good days and bad days. Am I slightly depressed? I just maybe, I don't even know anymore. I know that I've never felt this way ever before though and know that it just has to be the whole adjusting and then kind of feeling trapped in your own home. It feels like you have no identity. I broke down literally yesterday just because I've had enough. I had a phone call from the company building our house that because I couldn't be put on the morgtage and have yet not recieved a ssn that they have to remove me from the house building contracts. One more thing I can't do. It was hard to hear, my hubby tried to calm me down thru the night. Just hang in there. Stay positive, as much as you can.

  17. Yeah, but you can't pretend you believe something that you don't

That is true, which is why I said it was a thought. I would find that difficult as well.

The same words, all of which were written by MEN. God did not write those words, men did. Men then translated those words from many different scrolls, and then bound them together. If it was so easy for God to write books and give them to men... why has he stopped writing? Can't get on the Best Seller list?

The Bible (Basic instructions before leaving earth :-p haha) is not a collection of stories, fables, myths, or merely human ideas about God. It is not a human book. Through the Holy Spirit, God revealed his person and plan to godly men, who wrote down God's message for his people (2 Peter 1:20-21). This process is known as Inspriration. The writers wrote from their own personal, historical, and cultural contexts. Yet, though they used their own minds, talents, languages, and styles, they wrote what God wanted them to write. Scripture is completely trustworthy because God was in control of it's writing. Its words are authoritative for out faith and our lives. It isn't a historical book, it's a book to help change you very life. Why does God need to write another book? Everything we ever need to know is in this one book. The book is our love letter from God. Our instructions on how to live our lives here on earth. Thats what I believe though I know your gonna comment or someone is once again and state that many of you don't find the Bible credible. I know I know, but thats just how I see it.
